A Billionaire CEO Brings His Child Home: The Awakening of the Stay-at-Home Dad System
Chapter 207 Let's go out for dinner
Around six o'clock in the evening, Chen Hao sat at the desk in his hotel room, holding an A4 sheet of paper and folding it into a paper airplane.
Tingting stood to the side, holding a piece of paper in her hand, imitating her father's actions.
Both of them folded very quickly, but Chen Hao would stop every few steps to let Tingting see the key folding points.
"Tingting, look at this corner. When you fold it, you need to press your fingernail down here so the crease will be straight. Try it."
Chen Hao unfolded the paper airplane and pointed to a crease.
Tingting leaned closer to take a look, then brought her face even closer, her nose almost touching the paper.
She bent down and folded the paper airplane in her hand, her fingernail scraping along the creases until it was perfectly straight.
She held the paper airplane up to the light; the creases were straight and the edges were neat.
"Dad, do you think this is right?"
Chen Hao took it and flipped through it. The fold line on the nose was pressed very firmly, and the angles at which the wingtips on both sides were also about the same.
"Great, that's an improvement over the one you folded yesterday. Try folding another one."
Tingting took a new A4 sheet of paper from the table. It was the kind provided in the hotel room; the paper was a little thinner, and it felt different when folded.
She stopped halfway through folding the fold and looked up at Chen Hao.
"Dad, this paper is different; it's easy to fold it crookedly."
"Yes, the thickness and toughness of the paper will affect the direction of the creases."
Thin paper wrinkles more easily, so apply less pressure with your nails and fold it slowly.
Chen Hao unwrapped the paper airplane in his hand and folded it again, slowing down the motion so Tingting could see.
"Look, when pressing this crease, I use my fingertip to press it flat on thin paper, but I use my fingernail to scrape it on thick paper. Try it."
Tingting imitated Chen Hao, using her fingertips to slowly smooth along the creases, and the paper bent down neatly without wrinkling.
After finishing the last step, she held the finished product up to the light and turned it around to examine it.
"It's folded! It's even better than the last one!"
[Ding! Completed the tutorial on fine paper airplane creases, gaining 124 god-level origami experience points!]
Chen Hao glanced at the system notification and his lips twitched slightly.
Tingting's fine motor skills are quite good for her age; many adults make crooked creases when folding paper airplanes.
She was able to fold the paper quite well after just a few tries, which shows that she has excellent hand-eye coordination and observation and imitation skills.
He placed the paper airplane that Tingting had folded on the corner of the table, next to his own. Comparing the two, although Tingting's airplane didn't have the sharpest nose, its overall symmetry was already quite high.
"Dad, I've finished folding it." Tingting put the paper airplane on the table.
Chen Hao picked it up and examined it. The wings were symmetrical, the nose was sharp, and the creases were neat, showing improvement over the ones he had made that afternoon.
Just as he was about to praise her, there was a knock at the door.
"Knock knock knock".
Chen Hao put down the paper airplane, walked over and opened the door.
Wu Licheng and Yu Jingwen stood at the door. Wu Licheng had changed into a dark blue jacket, and Yu Jingwen had changed into a light gray knit sweater. Both of them looked much more relaxed than during the day.
Wu Licheng was holding a mobile phone, and it seemed that he was checking what good food was available nearby.
"Teacher Chen, it's time for dinner," Wu Licheng said with a smile.
Tingting ran over from the desk and poked half her head out.
"Uncle, Auntie, where are we going to eat?"
Yu Jingwen squatted down and looked Tingting in the eye.
There's a local restaurant nearby, just a ten-minute walk away.
"Is Tingting hungry?"
"Hungry!" Tingting rubbed her stomach, drawing out her voice. "I only ate bread in the car at noon, and that bread wasn't even good, it was dry and tough."
Chen Hao picked up his coat, glanced at the two paper airplanes on the table, hesitated for a second, and then didn't take them.
He took Tingting's hand and walked out of the room.
The four of them entered the elevator. There were other guests in the elevator. Tingting huddled next to Chen Hao's legs, holding onto his arm with both hands.
As soon as they stepped out of the hotel, there were noticeably more people on the street than in the afternoon. The shops along the street were lit up, and Tingting glanced at a milk tea shop a couple more times as she passed by.
Yu Jingwen noticed it.
"Tingting, would you like some milk tea?"
Tingting glanced at Chen Hao but didn't say anything.
Chen Hao shook his head.
"Let's eat right away, we'll talk after we finish eating."
Tingting didn't make a fuss and obediently followed along.
She held her father's hand in one hand and Yu Jingwen's hand in the other, walking between the two of them, her little head turning left and right, finding everything new and interesting.
There was a small stall selling candied hawthorns by the roadside. She glanced at it several times, but didn't ask for any.
Yu Jingwen looked down at her, and she looked up and smiled, her pigtails swaying.
After walking for about seven or eight minutes, we arrived at a restaurant called "Ningbo Flavor".
The shop wasn't big, with two red lanterns hanging at the entrance. Inside, several tables were filled with customers, their voices and the sounds of bowls and chopsticks mingling together, creating a lively atmosphere.
Wu Licheng had made a reservation in advance, and the waiter led them to a table by the window.
The table wasn't big, just enough for four people. There were several red characters pasted on the windowpane, which were the names of the signature dishes.
The four of them sat down, and Wu Licheng handed the menu to Chen Hao.
"Teacher Chen, please order. The seafood at this restaurant is quite good."
Chen Hao glanced at the menu, and without hesitation, ordered several local dishes.
Scallion oil crab, steamed ribbonfish, stir-fried rice cake with pickled mustard greens, braised bamboo shoots, and a bowl of seafood soup.
He glanced at the menu a couple more times when he flipped to the back and added sweet and sour pork ribs to the menu.
"What Tingting likes to eat."
Tingting heard this and leaned over to look at the pictures on the menu.
"Dad, how did you know I love sweet and sour pork ribs?"
"You ate most of a plate at that little restaurant near our house last time, don't you remember?"
Tingting thought for a moment, nodded, and chuckled.
The dishes were served quickly. The swimming crabs were bright red, topped with a layer of shredded scallions and minced ginger, and glistening with oil.
The ribbonfish were white and tender, neatly arranged on a plate, and sprinkled with a small amount of red pepper strips.
The rice cakes are chewy and sticky, and when stir-fried with pickled mustard greens, they turn a light yellow color and look very soft.
The sweet and sour pork ribs were served last, with a rich, dark sauce and sprinkled with white sesame seeds; the aroma was irresistible.
Tingting picked up a piece of rice cake, took a bite, chewed it, swallowed it, and then immediately picked up another piece.
"Delicious!" She nodded, her cheeks puffed out.
Yu Jingwen picked up a piece of crab meat for her.
"Tingting, try this."
Tingting took a bite of the crab meat, and the sweet and fresh taste spread in her mouth. Her eyes lit up and the corners of her mouth turned up.
"This is delicious too!"
Chen Hao peeled a few shrimp for Tingting, removing the shells completely and placing the tender white shrimp meat in Tingting's bowl.
Tingting picked it up and ate it herself, her mouth covered in oil, her shiny lips opening and closing, occasionally wiping them with the back of her hand.
Wu Licheng picked up a piece of ribbonfish, removed two small bones, and chewed it.
"Yes, this restaurant is indeed authentic. The dishes you ordered, Teacher Chen, are all quite delicious."
