Blood-Red Front

Chapter 23 The First Rising Priestess

Ignoring the novice sentries' speculations about Lin Zhiyuan's identity, the infiltration team continued their advance along the highway.

The newly formed army had a firepower advantage and air superiority. Their command post was unlikely to be underground; it was probably in a nearby town or village, and would be easiest to spot along the highway.

However, half an hour later, Lin Zhiyuan suddenly stopped.

"The commander has a truck." The soldier next to him also noticed the lights in the distance.

"I saw it." Lin Zhiyuan nodded.

The enemy's location has been marked on the minimap.

[Newly promoted soldier transport truck, 1 newly promoted soldier driver; 1 newly promoted soldier priestess; 1 priestess maid.]

The newly ascended priestess was a unit that Lin Zhiyuan had never seen before.

Although he didn't know what it did, Lin Zhiyuan could tell that it was probably a unit with superpowers from the initial stage of development.

"Spread out and prepare to intercept," Lin Zhiyuan ordered.

"I'll lure the commander down and take him out. You guys control the vehicles and don't fire unless absolutely necessary."

The infiltration team must retreat immediately once they open fire, and Lin Zhiyuan did not want to retreat just like that.

"Understood!" The group nodded and dispersed to the roadside.

The truck was getting closer.

When they were still about a hundred meters away, Lin Zhiyuan took two steps forward, waving his hands and shouting, "Stop the car! Stop the car!"

The headlights were dim at that time, and the novice driver didn't notice someone waving until they were about 30 meters away.

"squeak--"

Even with a sudden stop, the truck continued to slide.

"grass!"

Lin Zhiyuan quickly dodged to the side.

Fortunately, Lin Zhiyuan did not stand in the middle of the road, which allowed him to narrowly avoid the truck.

Lin Zhiyuan, who had almost struck it lucky, angrily ran to the driver's seat, opened the car door, and pulled the driver out.

"Baka! Baka!"

Grabbing the driver by the collar, Lin Zhiyuan slapped him repeatedly, both forward and backward.

"Are you blind? Can't you see someone waving?!"

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" the driver kept apologizing.

After slapping the driver more than a dozen times, Lin Zhiyuan kicked him to the ground, pulled out his command knife, and stabbed him in the heart.

The newly promoted commander's eyes were wide open. He died without ever understanding why the major in front of him would kill him, even though they hadn't actually touched each other.

When the soldiers on the roadside saw that Lin Zhiyuan had already made his move, they immediately swarmed forward.

A moment later, two female soldiers dressed in newly promoted uniforms but without ranks were brought before Lin Zhiyuan.

"Commander, there's nothing in the carriage except for two newlywed women."

The two women were dressed identically, except one was taller and the other shorter; the taller woman wore tall military boots, while the shorter woman wore leggings.

"Who are you, and where are you going?"

The tall, newly recruited female soldier looked very frightened and stammered, "Reporting...reporting to Major, we are medical personnel, we don't know where we are going, our superior didn't say..."

"My patience is limited, don't try to fool me with these lies."

"Sir, we are medical staff, we really don't know anything."

Lin Zhiyuan sneered twice. "Medic? Use your brain more when you're making excuses."

"Did you find any medical supplies in the car?" Lin Zhiyuan asked, turning his head.

"No." Everyone shook their heads.

"Commander, we didn't find any medical supplies on them, but we did find a codebook, a radio, and a map."

As he spoke, some soldiers carried the items over.

Open the map, and under the headlights, the contents of the map are clearly visible.

However, this map is probably not a battle map. Although it is detailed, it does not contain any deployment information for the Rising Army.

Lin Zhiyuan clapped the map in his hand and pointed to the radio on the ground, asking, "Gentlemen, is there anything you want to say?"

The tall female soldier glanced at the short one discreetly, her previously fearful expression disappearing.

"You are from the Xia army, but have you ever seen the people of Chusheng who betrayed the Empress?"

"Very good, I like your perseverance, and I hope you can persevere during interrogation as well."

A witch from the newly risen nation, carrying a map and a radio, traveled to the front lines late at night. It was obvious that they had a mission and knew the location of the newly risen army's forward command post.

It doesn't matter if she doesn't talk now; as long as we bring her back, someone will be able to get her to talk.

Lin Zhiyuan gestured to the soldier beside him: "Go find two sets of civilian clothes for them to change into."

"yes!"

Several soldiers ran towards the nearby village.

The local people had already fled, but many tattered clothes were still left behind, so finding a few sets of clothes wouldn't be difficult.

Soon, the soldiers returned carrying a lot of clothes.

……

Lin Zhiyuan picked out a few clothes that looked still wearable from the pile and threw them into the arms of two newly recruited female soldiers.

"Change your clothes."

After glancing at the shorter female soldier, the taller one spoke up: "Could you please have your men turn their backs?"

"Turn your back?" Lin Zhiyuan found it somewhat amusing. "A prisoner should act like a prisoner. I advise you to behave yourself."

"Your Mightiness……"

Seeing that she was about to say something more, Lin Zhiyuan raised his hand and slashed her with a knife.

The tall female soldier clutched her neck and looked at Lin Zhiyuan in disbelief before collapsing to the ground.

"Miyuki!" The short female soldier tried to save her, but Lin Zhiyuan blocked her with his knife.

"A prisoner is a prisoner. If you don't want to, I can send you to see him," Lin Zhiyuan said.

"Also, don't think that just because you've torn off your collar insignia and changed your shoes, I can't tell who's in charge. Your leg wraps are so amateurishly tied that they'll come undone after you walk less than two miles."

That's right, the shorter female soldier is the newly promoted priestess, while the taller female soldier who has been taking the initiative is actually the maid.

The priestess sensed something was wrong as the driver stopped the car. She immediately tore off her collar insignia and exchanged shoes with her maid.

However, with the markers on the minimap, Lin Zhiyuan could not possibly be fooled, not to mention that they themselves had many flaws.

If they know what's good for them, it's fine to take them all back; if they don't, it's fine to take only the priestess back, or even none of them at all.

Upon hearing Lin Zhiyuan's words, the newly ascended priestess's expression changed drastically, and she kept thinking of a way to break the deadlock.

But no matter how much she thought about it, she couldn't figure out how to break free from Lin Zhiyuan's team's control. After all, she was just a witch, not a sorceress.

However, she had figured out her situation. If she didn't obey orders, she would probably be killed as well.

Seeing the newly ascended priestess obediently changing her clothes, Lin Zhiyuan gestured to the warrior beside him.

After the newly ascended priestess changed her clothes, several warriors rushed forward.

Soon, a newly ascended priestess, her mouth gagged and her legs in the air, was lifted up on a bamboo pole like a pig.

"As long as you are willing to cooperate, I can guarantee your safety," Lin Zhiyuan said.

Of course, it's fine if she really doesn't want to cooperate; she has no power to resist now.

"Push the truck into the ditch next to us, and we'll go back the way we came."

"yes!"
