Blood-Red Front

Chapter 19 Loincloth

"Sir, someone's coming towards us!"

As soon as the 7th Company approached the cemetery, the sentries of the newly formed squad spotted them.

Upon hearing the sentry's report, everyone tensed up and pointed their guns at their surroundings.

"Don't make a scene!" Yamamoto hissed.

"Don't forget, we are now the Xia Army!"

Even the most elite squad only has 25 members.

Once a firefight breaks out, their only fate will be to be crushed by the main force of the Xia army.

Only by finding a way to deceive the enemy can the team escape danger.

"Remember, we are from the communications company of a detachment. The detachment commander sent us to check the situation, but we have suspended our reconnaissance here because we are worried about a second shelling."

"Do you understand everything?"

"clear!"

Yamamoto nodded, signaling everyone to get ready, then shouted towards the other side, "Which unit are those guys from?! They're on our side, don't fire!"

Upon hearing that they were on their own side, the 7th Company Commander raised his hand, and the troops halted their advance.

"Disperse and surround them," the 7th Company Commander ordered in a low voice.

Then they shouted, "We're from the 7th Company of the 6th Regiment. Which unit are you from? What are you doing in the cemetery?"

"Brother, don't misunderstand," Yamamoto explained. "We're from the communications company of the 1st brigade. I'm Zhang Shan, the platoon leader of the 2nd platoon. We're here to scout the situation on orders from the brigade commander."

"We brought it to the graveyard only because we were afraid of a second enemy shelling."

"Damn it, a bunch of useless trash, all they know how to do is hide in a safe place and watch the show," the 7th Company Commander muttered under his breath.

The 6th Regiment belonged to the 2nd Detachment. The people from the 1st Detachment avoided going forward, and he couldn't give them a hard order.

Just as the 7th Company Commander was preparing to check the situation and then rush to the regimental headquarters to rescue people, Lin Zhiyuan also caught up.

"Don't let your guard down. Let the other side come out first and gather together."

"Yes, sir!" the 7th Company Commander shouted towards the cemetery. "Come out, all of you!"

"Sure thing, just tell the brothers to be careful with their guns, so they don't accidentally fire."

Yamamoto Asahi's squad gave a signal, and all the newly promoted soldiers were ready to open fire immediately should anything happen.

Watching the 25 men file out, the 7th Company Commander grew increasingly angry: "Why didn't you go to rescue them when you arrived?! Hiding in the graveyard pretending to be ghosts!"

Although the 7th Company Commander's tone was unpleasant, Yamamoto didn't take it to heart and instead chuckled, "We're just afraid too. What if the enemy fires a few more shells?"

"Alright, enough with the nonsense." The 7th Company Commander waved his hand. "Is this all the men you have? Can you come with me to the regimental headquarters to rescue them?"

"No problem, no problem." Yamamoto nodded repeatedly.

However, he did not realize that Lin Zhiyuan had already directed the guards to quietly surround them.

After glancing at the minimap and confirming that all the enemies had emerged from the graveyard, Lin Zhiyuan stepped out from behind the 7th Company Commander, aiming his submachine gun at Yamamoto.

"beat!"

"Da da da..."

The newly promoted soldiers were shocked; they never expected that things would turn into a fight when they were talking so well.

The newly promoted troops wanted to retaliate with their guns, but the firepower from more than a dozen submachine guns was extremely terrifying.

The newly recruited soldier had no chance to react; the moment he raised his gun, he was hit by a barrage of bullets.

In just 3 seconds, the firing stopped, and all 25 newly promoted soldiers fell to the ground.

Lin Zhiyuan handed the submachine gun back to Wang Xiaoliu and said, "Finish off the gun and clean up the battlefield."

The 7th Company Commander, standing to the side, was momentarily stunned by the sudden outburst of the guard platoon.

"Battalion Commander Lin... what's this?"

"They are infiltrating spies," Lin Zhiyuan explained casually.

"Spies? I didn't realize it. They speak and act just like the people of Xia."

"The same?" Lin Zhiyuan glanced at the 7th Company Commander and asked, "Where do you think they're from?"

"Where are they from?" The 7th Company Commander pondered for a moment and said, "Judging from their accent, they seem to be from beyond the Great Wall."

The 7th Company Commander was not surprised to see soldiers from outside the Great Wall in Binxi. After the area outside the Great Wall fell to the Japanese six years ago, many people had fled to the interior.

"So how tall do you think he was?" Lin Zhiyuan asked, pointing at Yamamoto's body.

"height?"

The 7th Company Commander was a little confused, not knowing what this meant, but he still made an estimate.

"He's probably a little over 1.6 meters tall."

Lin Zhiyuan shook his head. "At most 1.55 meters. You can measure yourself if you don't believe me."

The 7th Company Commander still didn't understand what it meant.

Looking at the bewildered 7th Company Commander, Lin Zhiyuan shook his head helplessly. "Have you ever seen such short soldiers from outside the Great Wall?"

"Huh? Is that a reason?"

"Of course, there are other verification methods," Lin Zhiyuan explained.

"Because the newly ascended people have worn wooden clogs for a long time, the gap between their big toe and index toe is relatively large."

"There is another major difference: the Xia army wears shorts with a crotch underneath, while the newly promoted army wears blouses. You can take off their pants and see."

Even if the newly promoted army had captured Xia army uniforms, it is unlikely that they would have worn the underwear of fallen soldiers.

Upon hearing this, the 7th Company Commander stepped forward and pulled down Yamamoto's pants, revealing a loincloth.

"Damn! He really is a newly promoted soldier!"

Lin Zhiyuan, who was standing to the side, was surprised that he had actually been right, after all, this world was different from his previous life.

He wasn't sure before that the newly promoted army was the same as the Japanese, so he had prepared other things to say, but now it seems they are no longer needed.

Having confirmed that the evidence was sufficient, Lin Zhiyuan said, "Alright, there's no time to waste here. Leave the body here and let's go to the regimental headquarters to rescue people."

"Yes, sir." The 7th Company Commander turned his head and waved his hand. "Let's go to the regimental headquarters to rescue them."

The distance of a few hundred meters was covered in the blink of an eye.

Looking at the ruins of the regimental headquarters and the wounded soldiers still groaning on the ground, Lin Zhiyuan knew that the 6th Regiment was in trouble.

"Everyone, don't panic!" Lin Zhiyuan shouted. "Who's in charge now? Where's the team leader?!"

Hearing Lin Zhiyuan's shout, a captain who was removing bricks ran over.

"Major, the command post has been shelled. The regimental commander and the others have been killed in action. I am now the highest-ranking officer on the scene, Captain Zhong Ning, the staff officer!"

"Is the communication established? Have you made contact with your superiors?"

"Huh? I don't know." Zhong Ning shook her head.

After being hit by a barrage of naval gunfire, the captain was not seriously injured or killed, but he did suffer minor injuries from the powerful shockwave.

Moreover, after seeing the devastation at the regimental headquarters, he became extremely panicked and focused solely on saving people, without thinking about anything else.

"I'm taking over on-site command now," Lin Zhiyuan said decisively.

"Move the seriously injured out first, don't occupy rescue positions."

"Have the communications officer check the telephone line immediately and connect the call."

"yes!"

Because it was bombarded, only the telephone lines around the regimental headquarters were broken, and the communications soldiers easily reconnected the telephone lines.

As soon as the telephone line was completed, the phone rang immediately.
