Hong Kong: Black Gold Tycoons

Chapter 5 Borrowing Money

The other four people dispersed and subtly surrounded the table where the two men were sitting.

Chen Jiaju recognized these people as Zhu Tao's henchmen, and the leader was Zhu Tao's nephew, Zhu Ke'an.

He reached for his waist, then remembered he had been suspended from duty and had long since surrendered his service weapon. Without a word, he lowered his hand and said, "Zhu Ke'an, what do you want?"

Zhu Ke'an sneered, "You beat my uncle Zhu Tao to death, Inspector Chen, shouldn't you give me an explanation?"

"Zhu Tao died on the bus, it has nothing to do with me," Chen Jiaju said calmly. "If you want to explain, go to the judge."

"Ha." Zhu Ke'an slammed his hand on the table. "You're suspended now, what's there to be so arrogant about? If you're so capable, go ahead and beat us all to death."

Upon seeing this, the diners at the tea restaurant paid their bills and left.

Chen Jiaju stood up and pointed at Chen Fei beside him, saying, "This has nothing to do with my friend. Let him go."

Zhu Ke'an glanced at Chen Fei and sneered, "Leave? Since we're sitting together, let's fight together!"

Chen Fei smiled and said to Chen Jiaju, "How about we play a knockout match together today?"

"What elimination round?" Chen Jiaju asked, puzzled.

No sooner had he finished speaking than one of Chen Fei's henchmen suddenly attacked.

But his hand had just reached out.

Chen Fei's physical abilities had been enhanced, and his reaction speed was on full display at this moment. He simply turned slightly to the side to dodge, grabbed the wrist with his left hand and twisted it sharply with a cracking sound.

The henchman's arm was dislocated, and before he could even scream, he was already in pain.

Chen Fei's right elbow slammed into his temple, and he collapsed to the ground without even groaning.

Chen Jiaju, who was standing next to him, also joined in.

He punched the charging henchman in the face, then raised his knee and slammed it into the man's abdomen. The man staggered back a few steps, knocking over the table next to him.

Zhu Ke'an's expression changed, and he pulled out a switchblade from his pocket, stabbing at Chen Fei.

Chen Fei dodged the blade at a tricky angle, then gripped his wrist with his right hand like an iron clamp, twisting and pressing it sharply.

The switchblade clattered to the ground, and Zhu Ke'an was forced to his knees. The sound of bones cracking came from his wrists, and the pain made the veins on his forehead bulge.

The remaining two henchmen were startled by the swift counterattack. One tried to run, but Chan Ka-kui kicked him in the back of the knee, sending him sprawling into the aisle.

Just as the other man pulled out a dagger, Chen Fei released Zhu Ke'an, stepped forward, and slapped him across the face.

The slap was delivered with only 70% force, but the henchman spun around on the spot, two bloody teeth flying out of his mouth and hitting a nearby pillar.

In just over ten seconds, all five people were sprawled out.

Chen Jiaju glanced at Zhu Ke'an lying on the ground, then at Chen Fei, his eyes showing a hint of surprise and admiration: "You've trained? No wonder you wanted to play against me in the elimination rounds."

"Just messing around," Chen Fei chuckled. "You're not bad either."

Chen Jiaju crouched down and searched Zhu Ke'an and the others, but found no murder weapon. He then said to Chen Fei, "Could you please keep an eye on them? I'll call someone over."

Chen Fei nodded and also searched Zhu Ke'an and the others, taking out about two or three thousand Hong Kong dollars from their pockets. After deducting the restaurant's approximate losses, he put the rest in his pocket.

After Chen Jiaju finished his call, Chen Fei casually asked, "Who are these people?"

"It's inevitable for police officers to make enemies; these are all my enemies," Chan Ka-kui said, shaking his head helplessly.

"That means you're a skilled and upright policeman," Chen Fei laughed. "A corrupt policeman wouldn't have so many enemies."

Chan Ka-kui sighed, "But the police station doesn't need police officers with good fighting skills."

Since she had only just met Chen Fei, there were some things she couldn't say, so she changed the subject, "Have you eaten yet?"

I'm full.

"That's good."

A short while later, several police officers arrived at the restaurant, and Chen Jiaju handed Zhu Ke'an and the others over to them.

He then said to Chen Fei, "You were so efficient just now, I owe you one. How about we exchange pager numbers, become friends, and have some tea together sometime?"

"No problem, let's have tea together sometime." Chen Fei readily agreed.

The two exchanged numbers.

Chan Ka-kui had to leave first.

Inside the Cheung Kong Building.

Chen Fei's documents were delivered to Li Jiacheng.

Looking at the "Urgent" stamp on the document, Li Ka-shing asked in confusion, "Which department sent this?"

"Someone brought it to the front desk, and the front desk forwarded it."

Li Jiacheng frowned and said, "Next time, documents won't go through the front desk; each department should deliver them themselves."

If he had to review every document placed in front of him, he would be overwhelmed with work.

But he had to open the document because he had never publicly announced his meeting with Hutchison Whampoa, and the meeting minutes were kept in secret. So why would someone send it to him?

Li Jiacheng examined the text with suspicion, but the more he read, the more alarmed he became. The text contained the contents of his conversation with Shen Bi!

Not only did they have topics they discussed in private!

It even included the number and names of the people present!

Li Jiacheng was immediately shocked and broke out in a cold sweat. His first thought was that there was a traitor among his men!

Otherwise, how could this information have been leaked?

He had read in historical records about how terrifying the Embroidered Uniform Guard was; rumors circulated that officials could eat, drink, curse, write in their diaries, and chat with their concubines at home, and the emperor would know everything the next day.

I never imagined there would be such a terrifying person around me!

Li Ka-shing immediately thought of his trusted confidant, Canning Fok, who was in charge of all the group's finances and was also the core of Hutchison Whampoa's acquisition.

At this time, Huo Jianning was still the chief accountant of Cheung Kong Holdings, not the powerful vice chairman of the group that he would become later. However, he was already Li Jiacheng's most trusted financial confidant, and he participated in all the financial planning for all of Li's secret negotiations with Shen Bi.

Could he be the mole?

Because only he has the right to access all top secret information.

But it doesn't seem like it.

In just a few minutes, Li Jiacheng's scalp tingled with anxiety.

I feel like there's a tightly organized intelligence network lurking around me, and the people in it are probably quite influential.

Who betrayed me, and what was their purpose?

Despite Li Ka-shing's many thoughts.

But I never thought of calling the police.

In his view, calling the police was the most foolish choice and might not even solve the problem, just as his son was later kidnapped.

Now his only thought is to figure out the other party's intentions. Money can be earned back, but if this unstable factor is not resolved, he will never have peace of mind for the rest of his life.

After thinking it over, he had someone call the receptionist to his office and ask who had delivered the documents.

But no matter how many times I asked, the receptionist said she didn't know him. The only thing she remembered was that he was very young and handsome.

Li Ka-shing noticed that the document contained the character "Chen" and a pager number at the very end.

After pondering for a long time, he instructed his secretary: "Dial this pager and have this person call back to your office number."

"It's Mr. Li," the secretary nodded in response.

soon.

Chen Fei saw the message on the pager inside the tea restaurant.

He then used the restaurant's phone to call back.

The phone rang for a while before a greeting came through: "Hello, this is Chang Shi's secretary's office. Who are you looking for?"

"My surname is Chen. You called my pager and asked me to call back," Chen Fei said on the phone. "Is Mr. Li with you? Let him answer the phone."

"Please wait a moment." The secretary turned to look at Li Jiacheng, who nodded, took the microphone, and instructed the secretary to leave first.

He was the only person in the office.

At this moment, Li Jiacheng felt very uneasy, not knowing what kind of people or what kind of things he was about to face.

He tried to calm himself down before speaking, "Hello, this is Li Jiacheng. Who is looking for me?"

"Hello, Mr. Li," Chen Fei said. "I believe you have already read the documents I gave you."

"Yes, I saw it," Li Jiacheng said. "I wonder if there's anything Mr. Chen can help me with?"

"It's nothing serious, I just wanted to get to know you and become friends." Chen Fei smiled and continued, "I don't really like discussing things over the phone, so how about we meet in person?"

Upon hearing the other party's suggestion to meet, Li Jiacheng immediately agreed, "Sure, I love making friends, but I have important business to attend to and can't get away. If it's convenient for you, you can come to my office to find me."

"Sure," Chen Fei replied without hesitation. "I'm at table 12 in the tea restaurant across from your company. Send someone to pick me up."

Hearing that the other party was at a tea restaurant across from the company, it was clear they weren't afraid of being called to the police and arrested.

Li Jiacheng became even more certain that this person must possess some top-secret information.

"Okay, I'll arrange for someone to come down and pick you up right away."

After hanging up the phone, Li Jiacheng called his secretary in and gave instructions on picking up the person from the tea restaurant.

The secretary was completely bewildered. Who was this person of such importance that she, the boss's secretary, had to personally pick them up?

However, since the boss gave the order, I naturally had to do as he instructed.

Li Ka-shing waited patiently in his office, making various guesses.

About half an hour later.

The secretary brought in a young man.

Li Jiacheng secretly sized him up.

I don't recognize this person.

He was dressed very plainly and didn't have the thuggish air of a gangster.

He stood up with a smile, walked towards Chen Fei, extended his hand, and said with a grin, "Mr. Chen, welcome."

"Boss Li, I've long admired your name." Chen Fei shook hands with him briefly.

Li Jiacheng instructed his secretary to leave first.

After the door closed, he invited Chen Fei to sit down and personally poured him water. "May I ask what brings you here today, Mr. Chen?"

"I have limited time, so to make a long story short, I need to borrow some money." Chen Fei took out an alarm clock.

Set a ten-minute countdown and place it on Li Ka-shing's desk.

"I need your reply before the alarm rings."
