Peninsula: My Top-Tier Landlord

Chapter 80: That way I won't be afraid anymore

At 9 a.m., Ye Fan woke up again because of his biological clock. However, since it was the first day of the new year and he didn't have to go to work, Ye Fan didn't get up. Instead, he turned over, wrapped the quilt tighter, and planned to stay in bed for a while.

He picked up his phone, glanced at the time, hung up the call, and sent Bae Joo-hyun a good morning message instead—a routine he'd gotten used to these past few days.

After watching videos for a while, Ye Fan finally got up lazily at 10 o'clock. After washing up, he went to the kitchen to cook a bowl of ramen for breakfast and then sat back down at his computer.

Bae Joo-hyun woke up and replied to his message, also telling him about their plans for the day: they were going out shopping, and their flight was in the evening, so they wouldn't arrive in Seoul until the early hours of the morning.

Ye Fan took another picture of the computer screen and explained his plans for the day: to sit in front of the computer and watch videos.

Today was just another ordinary day. The only thing that added color to this blank page was the photos and selfies that Bae Joo-hyun shared while shopping.

Ye Fan had to get up early for work the next day, so around 11 p.m. he sent a message to Bae Joo-hyun to tell her that he was going to sleep. By the time Bae Joo-hyun got off the plane and saw the message, it was already 12:30 a.m.

"I just got back. Goodnight, see you tomorrow." Bae Joo-hyun typed a message and sent it to Ye Fan, then said goodbye to her two younger sisters.

The trip is over, and apart from a book signing event in the middle of the month, this month will be a rest period.

"Unnie, remember to tell your brother-in-law." Kang Seulgi waved her hand, reminding her older sister to tell her brother-in-law about the big meal.

"Okay, let's talk about it on the weekend. I'll let you know when we've set a time." Bae Joo-hyun waved her hand, telling Seulgi, the foodie, not to worry, as Ye Fan was only available on weekends.

On her day off, Bae Joo-hyun slept in late. After waking up at noon, she went to the gym. At 4 p.m., she returned home, took a shower, changed her clothes, grabbed a bag, went downstairs, got in her car, and drove off.

She arrived at Ye Fan's organization with practiced ease, parked her car on the roadside, and waited for two minutes. A familiar figure walked out of the door. Bae Joo-hyun smiled and honked the horn.

Upon hearing the horn, Ye Fan subconsciously glanced in the direction of the sound. When he saw the familiar car, he stopped and was about to check the license plate to confirm if it was him when the window rolled down. When he saw those eyes, Ye Fan knew it was him.

"Why are you here?" Ye Fan asked as he walked to the car.

"I've been resting lately, it's not like it's the first time." Bae Joo-hyun unlocked the car door.

As Ye Fan got into the car, he glanced at the back seat. Seulgi wasn't there. He fastened his seatbelt and asked, "Seulgi didn't come?"

"She should be at home right now, why would we bring her over?" Bae Joo-hyun replied casually. She glanced at the rearview mirror, and after confirming it was safe, she merged into the traffic.

"Didn't I say I'd treat her to dinner, and Seungwan too?"

"I told them to wait until the weekend first, otherwise they would have to buy groceries and cook after get off work, and it would be a lot of time for you to do it all by yourself, plus you would be tired after work."

Ye Fan propped his head up with his hand, turned to look at Bae Joo-hyun, and smiled, "So considerate?"

"Hmm, that's true, but in someone's eyes, he's just someone who only knows how to bully others." Bae Joo-hyun rolled her eyes at Ye Fan and nudged him with her nose.

Her adorable, coquettish manner made Ye Fan quickly turn his head away; it was truly too much.

Seeing Ye Fan's slightly flustered appearance, Bae Joo-hyun's lips curled up slightly. "Are we still going to the supermarket?"

Ye Fan shook his head, coughed lightly, and said, "I'm not going. There are still groceries at home."

"Then let's just go back?"

"Um."

Bae Joo-hyun didn't linger. She drove all the way back to the apartment complex, parked the car, took a handbag from the back seat, and walked briskly to Ye Fan. "Here you go."

Looking down, Ye Fan narrowed his eyes. This packaging looked like a clothing brand? After taking a closer look, Ye Fan confirmed that it was indeed clothing.

"this……"

Why did you suddenly give me a gift?

"It's a New Year's gift. I saw it while shopping and thought it would suit you, so I bought it for you. Besides, you don't have many clothes." Bae Joo-hyun stood on tiptoe with her hands behind her back, her petite body swaying in the wind. Her eyes were full of expectation, like a child who had done a good deed and wanted praise.

His mouth was slightly open, but he didn't know what to say. He shook his head and laughed. This is trying to fool a child. Seeing something while shopping? What girl goes shopping for men's clothing?

But when he thought about how she had bought it especially for him, and considering what Seulgi and Seungwan had said the night before, Ye Fan's gaze softened. "Thank you, I really like it."

Her eyes narrowed into crescent moons, and then Bae Joo-hyun gave a goofy smile, a stark contrast.

"Let's go back first, it's too cold outside." Ye Fan extended his hand to her, thinking he could return the favor in a couple of days if he had the chance.

He never expected Bae Joo-hyun to bring him a gift. He was flattered but also caught off guard. He hadn't prepared anything and didn't have any gifts to give.

Bae Joo-hyun nodded and placed her hand in Ye Fan's palm. His hand was large and warm. She leaned closer to him, and the cold wind was quickly blocked by the tall figure beside her.

Looking down at the landlord, Ye Fan joked, "It feels like I'm really being kept by you."

He has received gifts three times already, and one of them was from Bae Joo-hyun's mother.

"But you haven't agreed yet." Bae Joo-hyun gently bumped her head against Ye Fan's shoulder.

"What's too easily obtained is never cherished. If you get tired of me and kick me aside, I'll have nowhere to cry," Ye Fan said with a smile.

With a slight frown, Bae Joo-hyun's smile faded slightly. She looked up at Ye Fan's smiling profile and said seriously, "I would never do that."

"And shouldn't that line you just said be my line?"

"Because now you're the one supporting me, our statuses are different."

As soon as Ye Fan finished speaking, he felt a tickle in his palm. He just let go of his hand when a foreign object slipped between his fingers. He then gripped it tightly, and Ye Fan instinctively tightened his grip as well.

Ye Fan didn't resist, and Bae Joo-hyun easily lifted their intertwined hands, playfully shaking them, "See, this way we don't have to worry about breaking up, right?"

"Where did you learn those lines? Did you watch a Korean drama?" Ye Fan couldn't help but laugh. He had quite a few tricks up his sleeve.

"This was written on a whim."

Bae Joo-hyun lowered her hand and shook her arm vigorously. Ye Fan slowed down to synchronize his steps with Bae Joo-hyun's.
