Peninsula: My Top-Tier Landlord

Chapter 74: Lying Flat?

"Yeah, brother-in-law, you can just drive back with unnie for the New Year, it's not that far anyway." Kang Seulgi immediately chimed in.

Bae Joo-hyun gave the two girls some cookies she bought from the supermarket. After hearing what the two girls said, she opened a package and put the cookies to Ye Fan's mouth.

Ye Fan fastened his seatbelt, glanced down at the snack beside his mouth, and then opened his mouth to take a bite.

"That's it!"

Kang Seulgi and Son Seungwan cheered as if they had won a battle, while Bae Joo-hyun laughed along and secretly glanced at Ye Fan.

"The New Year is still a long way off, why have you already scheduled my itinerary?" Ye Fan started the car, preparing to merge into the traffic.

"And why are you two single dogs trying to find yourselves to eat dog food (a Chinese slang term for witnessing romantic relationships)?"

Upon hearing this, all three girls froze. Kang Seulgi and Son Seungwan's smiles vanished. How could those words be so apt and heartbreaking?!

Bae Joo-hyun realized what was happening, and then another loud laugh from an older woman echoed from inside the car.

Ye Fan glanced at the rearview mirror and saw the two bitter faces of Kang Seulgi and Son Seungwan. He smiled slightly, and after confirming that it was safe, he stepped on the gas and merged into the traffic.

Inside the car, Kang Seulgi and Son Seungwan teamed up to relentlessly accuse Ye Fan!

"Aren't you two the masterminds behind your unnies?" Ye Fan didn't care about Kang Seulgi and Son Seungwan's sad remarks. Judging from their expressions, they were just faking it and playing around.

"That's true, but brother-in-law, you actually called us single dogs! That's infuriating!" Kang Seulgi raised her fist at Ye Fan and waved it in the air as if she was about to punch him.

"What's most infuriating is that this is actually true!" Son Seung-wan joined in, throwing a punch at Ye Fan.

"Unnie, do you mind if we punch your brother-in-law a little?"

"I'm fine with it, but he's driving right now. He needs to drive safely, and you can't lay a hand on the driver." Bae Joo-hyun smiled and raised her hand to make an X.

Back home, Ye Fan got busy, while the three of them watched TV on the sofa.

Bae Joo-hyun's Chinese textbooks and materials were still on the coffee table. Son Seung-wan picked them up and glanced at them. She recognized her older sister's handwriting; she had taken many notes and was studying very diligently.

"Unnie, how far have you progressed in your studies?" Son Seungwan asked, flipping through her notes.

Bae Joo-hyun glanced at it and replied, "Still learning to read."

She has already learned pinyin, but recognizing characters is more difficult. She needs to understand the meanings of many homophones and idioms, which is the hardest part. Ye Fan gave her some homework, but she hasn't done it yet.

"It won't be long before Unnie is able to converse in Chinese like Yoona Unnie, or she can take a certificate exam. Then, if there are any events in China, Unnie won't need to bring a translator," Son Seungwan said with a smile.

The company's most famous Chinese expert is Yoona from Girls' Generation. She has acted in dramas in China and has never missed a Chinese course, even obtaining a certificate.

"This will take a long time. How long has Yoona unnie been learning, and how long have I been learning?" Bae Joohyun leaned to the side and rested her head on Kang Seulgi's shoulder.

Ye Fan told her that to reach the level of simple daily communication, it would take at least a year of study, and she hasn't even been studying for a month yet.

"Your brother-in-law will teach you, so it'll be quick. And when you go to China with him, you won't even need a translator when you meet his family."

"When my brother-in-law's family sees how beautiful I am and how I can speak Chinese, they'll definitely love me." Son Seungwan leaned down and gently poked Bae Joo-hyun's soft waist.

"Don't worry, someone will speak up for Unnie. She's already bribed Xiaoxin." Kang Seulgi added somewhat uncomfortably, as the two of them were pressing down on her, making her feel a bit heavy.

As soon as Ye Fan came out, he saw the Jenga set on the sofa. To be honest, it was quite pleasing to the eye. He remembered that when his younger sister was explaining things to him, she mentioned that their fans shipped the couples within the group.

Seeing Ye Fan bring out the dishes, Jiang Seulgi pushed them aside with both hands, creating a small gap, and immediately ran to the dining table to sit down.

Bae Joo-hyun and Son Seung-wan also stopped playing around and followed her to the dining table to sit down.

Looking at the dishes on the table, Kang Seulgi held up her chopsticks and pretended to pick up food. It had been a while since she had come over for a meal. She envied her unnie, whose brother-in-law cooked delicious food every day.

After serving the last dish, Ye Fan sat down and invited them to eat.

When the conversation turned to Christmas a couple of days ago, Ye Fan asked Kim Heechul and Kim Taeyeon about it. It seemed that Kim Heechul mentioned during their chat that he was still single, as was Kim Taeyeon.

Thinking about their ages, one is 40 and the other is 34, they're both quite old. They're both in the industry, but they don't seem to be in a hurry.

"Heechul oppa is in a hurry, he even participated in a variety show with all the older single men," Kang Seulgi explained.

"Most older people in the industry want to find a partner, but they haven't found one yet because of work or other reasons."

Ye Fan nodded, then glanced at Bae Joo-hyun. The latter didn't say anything, but stepped on Ye Fan's foot under the table.

What does that look mean? Is it implying that you're old?

Son Seungwan and Kang Seulgi ate their meal in silence, ignoring the flirtatious banter between the two.

After finishing their meal, the two exchanged a knowing glance, stood up to say goodbye, and left Bae Joo-hyun and Ye Fan alone. They had finished eating and didn't want to be third wheels.

"Unnie, we'll head back to pack our bags now. See you tomorrow, and goodbye brother-in-law."

"it is good."

As soon as the two left, Bae Joo-hyun glared at Ye Fan. "You weren't just trying to say something about my age, were you?"

Ye Fan cried out that he was innocent, "I didn't say anything! I just glanced at you. Can't I even look at you because you're pretty?"

"Liar, it doesn't look like it at all." Bae Joo-hyun didn't believe his nonsense.

"Are you planning to do live streams from home these next few days?"

"Maybe." Ye Fan nodded. These past few days, Bae Joo-hyun hasn't been coming to class, so she has a lot of free time in the evenings, which she spends either recording videos or doing live streams.

"Why are you working so hard? Your schedule seems really packed every day," Bae Joo-hyun asked, voicing her curiosity.

"There's no other way. If I don't spend time creating the life I want now, I'll be forced to spend even more time dealing with the life I don't want in the future." Ye Fan sighed. He also wanted to just relax, but the circumstances didn't allow it.

Bae Joo-hyun blinked. What she said made sense, but she was still curious. "So, what is it that you want?"

"I'll just lie down and relax once I'm financially independent," Ye Fan blurted out. Once he's financially independent, he'll find an easier job.

"Lie down?"
