Peninsula: My Top-Tier Landlord

Chapter 61: Was it too much?

Rubbing his eyes, Ye Fan pulled the blanket up. Getting up in the dead of winter is really painful. Even with heating, you can still feel the cold wind when you wake up.

Turning to the side, Ye Fan intended to check the time, only to see that his phone screen was still lit up, showing that his call with Bae Joo-hyun had lasted for eight hours, and the time was still ticking away second by second.

Ye Fan opened his eyes wide. What was going on?

He remembered talking to Bae Joo-hyun on the phone last night, but he fell asleep while lying down. But Bae Joo-hyun didn't hang up the phone while he was asleep.

After unplugging the charger, Ye Fan could still hear the sound of the air conditioner and some light snoring coming from the phone.

Upon hearing this, Ye Fan couldn't help but chuckle. He could already imagine Bae Joo-hyun's sleeping posture. Instead of suddenly making a sound to wake Bae Joo-hyun, he hung up the phone, got out of bed, washed up, and went to work.

An hour later, Bae Joo-hyun also woke up groggily from her dream. She turned over in bed, but instead of getting up immediately, she wrapped the blanket tighter around herself.

He picked up his phone and saw that it was already 9:30. The call with Ye Fan had ended, so it seemed that he had already woken up and discovered it.

I glanced at the message pop-up and saw a good morning greeting from Ye Fan, but I didn't mention the phone call.

After replying to the message, Bae Joo-hyun got up and went to the living room, where her mother was already preparing breakfast in the kitchen.

"Good morning, Mom." Bae Joo-hyun stepped forward and hugged Choi Min-joo from behind.

She's no longer the typical older sister; she's just a little girl acting spoiled in front of her mother.

"Go wash up quickly, breakfast will be ready soon."

"Okay~"

While eating breakfast, Bae Joo-hyun asked her mother about her plans, whether she would go back tonight or tomorrow.

"What's wrong? Are you busy tonight?"

"Yes, I'm learning Chinese with Ye Fan now. I go to his place to study whenever I have free time in the evenings, and then I eat there." Bae Joo-hyun nodded. Since her mother had come over and she had met Ye Fan, she decided not to hide it anymore.

"oh?"

"Xiao Ye can cook?" Cui Minzhu was a little surprised. It was quite rare for a man to cook in their area, let alone a young man like Ye Fan.

"Yeah, and her cooking is pretty good. Seulgi used to go over there for meals a lot recently."

Seeing Bae Joo-hyun beam with joy when talking about Ye Fan, Choi Min-joo's expression softened as well.

"Learning Chinese is good, whether it's for your job or to get along with Xiaoye, you should learn some seriously, otherwise you won't be able to chat with his parents using a translator."

"Okay, I've been studying hard."

Choi Min-joo then asked Bae Joo-hyun to inquire with Ye Fan to see if it would be convenient for her to visit him tonight. If so, she would come over as a guest and leave after a short while.

When Ye Fan received the message at lunchtime, he didn't hesitate much and replied that it was fine. He was just doing his job for the money. His mother-in-law wanted to come over, so he would definitely make the arrangements.

As soon as he got off work, Ye Fan left the organization and went to the supermarket to buy ingredients. He then rushed back home to start preparing.

Bae Joo-hyun usually comes over as soon as Ye Fan gets off work, but today she first accompanied her mother, Choi Min-joo, for a walk outside and bought some things before coming over.

It was already 8 o'clock when the two of them arrived.

"Sorry, Xiao Ye, I'm late."

As soon as Ye Fan opened the door, he saw Cui Minzhu's kind smiling face.

"It's alright, Auntie. The food is ready. Please come in." Ye Fan stepped aside and took out Bae Joo-hyun's slippers and a new pair of slippers he had bought that day from the shoe cabinet, placing them in front of the two of them.

As Choi Min-joo changed her shoes, she glanced around the room. It was quite tidy, and because she had just finished cooking, she could still smell the aroma of food.

Upon entering the living room, Cui Minzhu handed Ye Fan a paper bag containing a black trench coat and sweater—a gift for him. Ye Fan was flattered; he hadn't expected to receive a gift.

Cui Minzhu tasted Ye Fan's cooking and immediately praised him. She had a good impression of Ye Fan when they met yesterday, and she was even better now!

"Xiao Ye, it's almost Chinese New Year. Are you going home for the holiday this year?" Cui Minzhu asked with a smile.

"I don't know yet. There's still a month before my annual leave starts. I'll think about it then." Ye Fan shook his head. He hadn't thought about this. The Chinese New Year is in February, and it's only the end of December now. His annual leave doesn't start until next month, so there's no rush.

"Oh, I see. If you're not going back, Joo-hyun can bring you to Daegu for a visit," Choi Min-joo said with a smile.

Ye Fan was taken aback. Wasn't the subtext of this sentence that Bae Joo-hyun was taking him back home for the New Year?

Bae Joo-hyun understood what she meant: take her home for the New Year, which meant taking her home to meet her family!

For a moment, she didn't know if her mother was worried about her, or if she was really very satisfied with Ye Fan, or perhaps both.

They've only met twice, and she's already thinking of sending Ye Fan back home for the New Year.

"I haven't been to Daegu yet either. If I'm not going back, I'll go for a visit, but I'm afraid I'll cause trouble for your mother." Ye Fan remained calm and composed.

It's not like I have to agree right now. There's still more than a month to go, and whether I go or not is up to me.

"No trouble at all, you're welcome to come anytime. But if you decide to come, please have Joo-hyun let us know in advance so we can prepare."

"Okay, Auntie."

After glancing at Ye Fan's computer desk, Cui Minzhu chatted with him about his work as a blogger. After eating for about 40 minutes, Cui Minzhu said goodbye and left. Ye Fan escorted her to the entrance of her residential area and helped her hail a taxi.

Watching the car drive away, Ye Fan glanced at Bae Joo-hyun beside him and smiled, "Why don't you say a word when you're with your aunt?"

"It's all the two of you talking, I can't get a word in edgewise," Bae Joo-hyun replied. She didn't know what to say, and Ye Fan handled things very well, so she didn't need to say anything.

"Auntie wants me to go back with you for the New Year. She seems quite satisfied with me. Did I overdo it?" Ye Fan pondered for a moment, feeling that Bae Joo-hyun's mother was looking at him like a mother-in-law was looking at her son-in-law.

"But it's very good." Bae Joo-hyun shook her head. There was no need to overdo it. The point was to put her mother at ease.

"It's up to you whether you celebrate the Lunar New Year or not; it doesn't matter to me."

"But going back for the Lunar New Year will be different from the last two times, because there will be a lot of relatives there. It all depends on whether you dare to go," Bae Joo-hyun joked.

"Then I dare not." Ye Fan laughed and raised his hands in surrender.

"It's not a strict requirement anyway."

Bae Joo-hyun's eyes narrowed instantly, and then she elbowed Ye Fan.

"Man!"
