The little one's purse connects the two worlds, turning a desolate village into a paradise.
Chapter 121 Thermos Bottle
Ya Ya looked at the box on the table that already had a small hole poked in it.
Her uncle had just given her a bag of new socks, and now he was giving her such a big box of Nezha Dongdong Le (a type of soda). She felt like she was receiving too much.
She said somewhat shyly in a low voice, "Uncle, didn't you give me a little too much...?"
Chen Lei laughed, "This is nothing. You even gave me an extra pair of shoes, which are worth much more than these. I got a great deal."
"Oh, by the way, I picked out a few thermos cups for you to take home and use to make baby formula."
Chen Lei then pulled out a crossbody thermos with a little yellow duck pattern from the cabinet behind him. The lid had a three-dimensional little yellow duck on it, and the body of the cup was also printed with cute ducks.
The small stainless steel cup also has yellow straps hanging on both sides.
Ya Ya's eyes lit up, and she unconsciously leaned forward, staring at the cute cup, unable to look away. The corners of her mouth even secretly turned up, which she couldn't suppress.
"This is a thermos." Chen Lei handed the thermos to Ya Ya. "Hot water will stay warm indefinitely, even if you leave it overnight, it will still be warm in the morning."
He pointed to the lid of the cup again, "Look here, there's a little button, press it—"
Chen Lei pressed lightly, and the cup lid popped open with a "click," revealing a soft, transparent straw.
"You can drink with a straw, carry it with you when you go out, and have a hot drink anytime."
Ya Ya held the cup, touching and pressing it here and there, her little face full of surprise.
This is amazing! There are so many mechanisms!
She looked up at him earnestly and asked, "Uncle, how much does one of these cost?"
She wanted to buy one for everyone in the village so that they wouldn't have to make do with drinking ice-cold water in the winter.
"You're asking for money again? No, it's a gift from your uncle. Here are two more big ones, take them home and use them."
Chen Lei placed the two large thermos cups directly into Ya Ya's stroller. The stroller still had a refreshing scallion smell, and Chen Lei's nose twitched.
"Uncle shopkeeper, I want to buy one for everyone in the village so that everyone can have hot water."
Chen Lei was stunned. Didn't anyone in the village have a thermos?
Thinking back to when Ya Ya first came here, she was illiterate and didn't know what medicine was, he understood that some remote mountain villages had poor roads, difficult delivery, and weak e-commerce coverage.
Many people simply boil water on the stove, pour it into a kettle, let it cool, and then drink it.
He thought villages like this only existed in short videos, but he never imagined that Ya Ya actually came from such a place. He wondered how many roads she had to walk and how many transfers she had to make...
After thinking about it, he felt it would be better to first popularize thermos flasks among the villagers.
Cheap, durable, and with a large capacity.
"Uncle will get you a few thermos bottles. They hold more hot water and keep it hot for longer, making them more suitable for everyone than small cups."
He turned around and went to the warehouse to fetch four old-fashioned thermos bottles, one each in red, green, yellow, and blue, each with a large 3.2-liter capacity.
"These can't be bumped or dropped, so be careful when using them." Chen Lei carefully put the four thermos bottles into the trolley box. The thermos bottles were too tall, so the lids couldn't be closed.
"The inner liner is glass, it's very fragile, and it won't work if it breaks. They're fifteen yuan each, take four home and use them."
Ya Ya nodded and kept those words in mind.
Although I don't understand what a glass liner is, I remember that these colorful bottles must not be dropped or bumped.
"Uncle, I need ten more tubes of toothpaste. The two I used last time are almost gone."
Ya Ya counted out eighty yuan and put it on the counter. She had already figured out that the free gifts and the purchased items had to be kept separate!
Toothpaste? Chen Lei was taken aback. The tubes of Heyman toothpaste he had were small, 50 grams each, and since the whole village used them, they should be almost gone.
After thinking for a moment, he went to the warehouse and took ten boxes of Jiamoushi cigarettes. These were from brands whose boxes had been damaged by rain during transportation. They were big brands with large capacity, much better than Heyren.
"This one is better than the previous one, and it has a floral scent, like jasmine and camellia."
"Thank you, Uncle." Ya Ya smiled broadly as Chen Lei put the toothpaste into the cart box. This toothpaste tube was not only bigger but also had flowers printed on it.
Chen Lei curled the corners of his mouth, sorted through the contents of the box, and finally stuffed the nine clip-on lamps into every nook and cranny of the box.
As soon as the things were put down, the plastic windproof curtain at the door was suddenly ripped open with a "whoosh".
He Miao walked in carrying two large paper bags. One of the bags was so full it was almost deformed. Inside, besides milk powder, was a bag of bright red, round early-ripening cherries.
"Sister He Miao!" Ya Ya's eyes lit up, and she happily ran out from behind the cashier.
"You've gotten even prettier in just two days!" He Miao put the bag on the cashier's counter, squatted down, and pinched Ya Ya's cheek with a smile.
It seems like I've gained weight.
The pale complexion on the little guy's face has disappeared, and his cheeks have become a little rounder, no longer sunken as before. It's obvious that he's been eating well and has recovered.
Children really do change every day.
Ya Ya was embarrassed by the praise. She covered her face with her two little hands, but her eyes peeked out from between her fingers and looked at herself in the reflection of the counter. Is it true? Have I really become more beautiful?
"This is the milk powder your sister promised to buy for you. It's a well-regarded milk powder for seniors, with added Hericium erinaceus powder and probiotics. It can help seniors strengthen their bodies, provide balanced nutrition, and regulate their digestive system."
"It's also very palatable."
Considering the situation in Ya Ya Village, He Miao specifically asked Su Yuqing to choose products with a high cost-performance ratio, so these cans of milk powder were not expensive.
"How much is it?" Ya Ya touched the small crossbody bag.
I wonder if she has enough money to buy four cans of this high-quality milk powder, which contains monkey powder and other bacteria.
Even the milk powder boxes are so beautifully made, red with big gold lettering, they look high-end.
"Four cans for 270 yuan, plus a free cup, which I've already put in my bag."
Two hundred and seventy yuan?
Such a good and amazing thing, four big jars, and it doesn't even amount to three red bills?
In the village, Grandpa Chen's medicine was already very affordable, but a prescription for a tonic would cost at least a hundred coins, and if rare herbs were added, it would cost money to buy it.
Ya Ya frowned, staring at the two large bags.
No way... Could it be that Sister Hemiao has also learned to lie from Uncle Manager?

(A few words unrelated to the text; feel free to skip if you don't like them.)
This is my first time writing a novel. I wrote it mainly because I was having a reading slump and couldn't find anything I liked, so I had the idea to try writing one myself.
I'm not a professional, so I often have to spend time researching. Plus, I have my own job, so I can't update seven or eight chapters a day. I've already used up all the chapters I saved up on my days off ( ‾᷄꒫‾᷅ ). I still owe Xiaxia a chapter. I'll only have time to write tonight.
The actual update schedule is one chapter in the early morning and one in the afternoon, but I only found out after writing that it needs to be reviewed. The evening chapters are often delayed until after 8 AM.
It was posted at 10 AM today and took more than two hours to be reviewed.
Getting back to the point, regarding updates, I'll be posting two chapters a day, with occasional bonus chapters. One chapter will be posted in the morning and another in the afternoon. If I'm not updating, I'll explain in advance at the end of the article. If I don't explain, it means the article is stuck in the review process.
If you'd like to read two chapters at once, feel free to leave a comment, and I'll post them together this afternoon.
I can't post comments directly, so I can only post them here. This way, they won't take up space in the main text and affect the listening experience. Wishing everyone a happy day!
