Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 72 A Minor Accident
Emma was stunned.
Then she retreated three times faster than she had pounced on him, shrinking into the blankets and burying her face in them.
Ella was still lying next to him, not having had time to move.
Emma tugged and pulled the blanket away from Ella's head, then dragged it in another direction. Ella reached out to grab a corner of the blanket, but missed; Emma had already snatched the entire blanket away.
The two of them rolled around in the blankets.
Emma buried her face in the pillow and mumbled something unintelligible. Ella rolled over in the blankets, trying to crawl out from the other side, bracing herself on the bed with her hands and shifting her knees forward half an inch.
Then her knee hit something.
It's not a blanket.
It's not a pillow.
Was it some kind of blanket she recognized?
She stopped moving.
My knee didn't come back, nor did it move forward; it just hung there in mid-air, touching something but not daring to confirm it.
Emma lifted her head from under the pillow. It was too dark in the blankets for her to see her sister's face, but she could sense that Ella was frozen there, motionless.
"Sister?" she called softly.
Ella did not answer.
Emma moved forward half an inch and looked down following Ella's gaze.
She also saw the shadow.
There was silence under the blanket for about two breaths.
[Ella - Current Status]
[Status: She saw the magical blanket; she knew what it was called, and her heart was telling her that it was very important.]
[Note: She was thinking about something—why her heart was beating so fast. She couldn't figure it out, but her body seemed to need no answer. Some knowledge is ingrained in the bones; it doesn't need to be taught or learned, it will naturally come to pass.]
Emma's Current Status
[She saw it. Her reaction was faster than her sister's. Her first thought wasn't "What's that?", but "Master is amazing!" She didn't know what she was praising, but she just felt she should say something.]
[Note: That's just how she is; she never gets to the point. While others are focused on what's going on, her focus is on how amazing her master is.]
[Note 2: She plans to take a closer look at it another time.]
Wayne himself was stunned.
He never expected such an accident to happen.
The commotion under the covers wasn't a huge noise, but it wasn't insignificant either. At one point, it could cause a major disturbance, enough to land you on the gallows ten times over. At the other, it was just morning squabbles.
But the problem is, it happened.
The blanket was rolled into a ball, and the two little ones were wrapped inside, like two hamsters frightened by a cat, huddled together, neither willing to peek out first.
Wayne coughed.
"Come out."
The blanket ball moved.
Ella peeked half her head out from under the covers, her face as red as a boiled shrimp, burning from her cheeks to her ears and then to her neck. She glanced at Wayne, then quickly withdrew, as if she had been scalded.
Emma then poked her head out.
Her face was also red, but the way she blushed was different from her sister's. Ella's blush was shy, but hers was playful, as if she had just finished something really fun and the excitement hadn't worn off yet. Her lips couldn't be suppressed, and her eyes were so bright they could light up a lamp.
"Master," she called out.
Wayne looked at her.
"Um."
"You're awake."
"Um."
"When did you wake up?"
What do you think?
Wayne sighed helplessly.
"Tell me, what time did you arrive last night?"
Emma poked half her head out from under the covers, her cheeks still flushed, but the corners of her mouth were already turning up.
"After the master fell asleep," her voice came from behind the covers, carrying a self-assured and frank tone, "my sister and I climbed into the master's bed."
Ella buried her face in the pillow beside her and let out a very soft whimper.
Wayne looked at her.
"You climbed up?"
"Mmm." Emma nodded. "At first, my sister said no, saying it wasn't right. I said that Master's blankets are thin and he gets cold at night, so we'll help him warm up. My sister thought about it and then came with me."
She paused, then added.
"We climbed in through the window. The door was closed, and we couldn't open it."
Wayne turned and glanced out the window.
The latch is good; it's inserted from the inside.
"The window is closed."
"We opened it," Emma said. "I used fire elementals to burn through the latches and then reconnected them from the outside. It was back on this morning, so you can't tell."
The panel popped up.
[Emma's Fire Element Usage Report]
[Application Scenario: Nighttime Infiltration]
[Technical assessment: Crude but effective. There are slight carbonization marks at the burnt-out point of the latch, barely noticeable without close inspection. Her logic is: as long as no one notices, it's not considered a bad deed.]
[Note: She genuinely only wanted to warm her master's bed. She didn't know the term "warming the bed" had any other meaning. Of course, what happened after she got into bed is another matter.]
Wayne remained silent for a long time.
He'd lived all these years and met many people. But this was the first time someone's ever climbed through his window in the middle of the night.
"Don't climb through windows anymore."
Emma blinked.
"Shall we go through the door?"
"Don't go through the door either."
"Then how do we get it?"
"Don't come."
Emma's lips are pouting so much you could hang an oil bottle on them.
Why?
"Because it's not suitable."
"What's inappropriate?" Emma propped herself up halfway from under the covers, bringing her face closer. Her round, pale red eyes were filled with seriousness. "We belong to our master. What's inappropriate about warming his bed?"
Wayne looked at her face.
She knows nothing and dares to say anything. If you try to explain to her why it's inappropriate, she'll keep asking you why, why, why, until you're speechless.
"You'll understand when you grow up."
"That line again." Emma pouted even more.
"They always use that same phrase to fool us."
She propped herself up halfway in the covers; the neckline of her pajamas had come undone during the commotion, revealing a sliver of her collarbone and shoulder. Her round, pale red eyes resembled two freshly washed cherries—except, of course, for her eyes…
Wayne silently looked away.
Just as he was about to speak, Ella peeked out from under the covers, her face flushed red, her fingers gripping the corner of the blanket so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
"Owner."
The sound was very soft, like a mosquito's hum.
Wayne looked at her.
"Um?"
Ella didn't look up.
"We..." her voice trembled, "we are slaves bought by our master."
Wayne didn't respond.
Ella gripped the corner of the blanket even tighter.
"Actually... Master doesn't have to be so patient."
"My sister and I... both love our master."
[Ella Emma - Identity Notes]
According to the customs of the Wiggins Kingdom, the two were considered adults from the moment they were sold into the slave market. The loss of their age registration was a common tactic used by slave owners to lower their price. Long-term malnutrition led to stunted growth, resulting in a physique severely disproportionate to their age.
[Note: These are not two children, but lolis, legal lolis. They just haven't had enough to eat or received proper education for a long time, so they look like children. They are malnourished.]
After she finished speaking, the tips of Ella's ears turned bright red.
It wasn't the kind of red that slowly builds up; it was a sudden, sharp red, like being slapped in the face, spreading from the earlobe to the tip of the ear, and then from the tip of the ear to the neck.
Wayne was speechless.
He had indeed thought about some of those things.
But thinking about it doesn't mean you'll do it.
He bought these two children from the slave market. When he rescued them, they were as thin as two kittens, but after raising them for a while, they have finally become a bit plumper.
Wayne coughed.
"You're still young."
"It's not young anymore," Emma interjected from the side.
Wayne glanced at her, and she shut her mouth, but her eyes were still bright, as if saying, "Master, please continue."
"We'll talk about this later."
"How long is 'later'?" Emma couldn't help but ask again.
Wayne rubbed his temples.
"When you stop climbing through windows in the middle of the night."
Emma thought about it.
"So, I'll climb during the day from now on?"
Wayne: "..."
Wayne took a deep breath and lifted a corner of the blanket.
"get up."
Emma crawled out from under the covers with the agility of an eel, while Ella was slower, her head bowed, her ears still red.
