Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong

Chapter 52 Gratitude and Teasing

The crowd did not disperse immediately after the morning prayers ended.

Lisa was the first to come over.

She stopped in front of Wayne, took a bulging cloth bag from her sleeve, and handed it to him with both hands.

"Your Excellency, this...this is for the church."

Wayne took it, opened it, and glanced inside. There were more than twenty Viking shields, along with some loose silver and copper coins, all neatly stacked.

"This is what I've saved up over the years." Lisa's voice was calmer than yesterday. "I used to keep it without knowing what to do with it, but now I know."

Wayne looked at the bag, then at Lisa's face. She looked much better than she had yesterday.

Wayne took two Viking shields out of the bag and handed the rest back.

Lisa was stunned.

"grown ups……"

"That's enough," Wayne said.

"Your feelings have been received by the goddess."

"Keep the rest for yourself." Looking at the touched Lisa, Wayne's voice was gentle. "There's still a long road ahead."

She tucked the cloth bag into her sleeve, took a step back, and bowed deeply.

"Sir, I will remember this."

There were many people queuing up to talk to Wayne.

Lisa quickly stepped aside.

The couple from yesterday squeezed through the crowd. The man was carrying an old hen, and the woman was carrying a basket of eggs and a piece of cured meat wrapped in cloth. It wasn't much, but it was clearly something they could afford.

"Sir," the man put the things on the ground and rubbed his hands, "I left in a hurry yesterday and forgot to give this to you... This is just a small token of our appreciation, please don't find it offensive."

Wayne looked down at the pile of things. The hen clucked twice in the man's arms. The eggs were small, and the cured meat was cut crookedly, but the cloth used to wrap the meat was very clean.

He bent down and took the things from him.

"Your gifts have been accepted by the goddess."

Wayne continued to ask.

How is the child recovering?

The man's face lit up immediately.

"Sir, that child... slept very well last night, and even drank half a bowl of porridge this morning!"

"Yes, yes, thanks to your medical skills, the child has recovered so well." The woman nodded repeatedly, her eyes full of affirmation for Wayne's medical skills.

Wayne nodded.

"Take good care of yourself, I'll go see you again in a few days."

Seeing that Wayne readily accepted the gift, the couple were very happy. After expressing their gratitude repeatedly, they left the church with ease.

Before the crowd had completely dispersed, several brightly colored figures surrounded them from the side.

The woman walking at the front was in her early twenties, wearing a green dress with a neckline even lower than yesterday. Overall, she was quite tall and elegant.

"Your Excellency," her voice was soft and gentle, "may we also be able to participate in the medical outreach?"

"Yes," Wayne nodded.

"The church doors are open to everyone."

The woman in the green dress laughed and took another half step forward. As she spoke, her chest brushed against Wayne's arm, seemingly unintentionally.

"So...when will it start?"

We're all waiting.

Several women nearby also gathered around.

"Yes, yes, we can't wait any longer."

"Sir, could you please set a date?"

"Ideally, it should be close, the closer the better."

The chattering sounds mingled together; some people used talking as an excuse to squeeze closer to him, some reached out to touch his sleeve, and some tiptoed to get closer to his arm.

The scents of the powders were mixed together, so strong that they were almost impossible to dissolve.

Wayne took half a step back, creating some distance.

Every Friday.

The women were stunned for a moment.

"Friday?"

"Yes." Wayne's voice was unhurried. "That's a holiday of the goddess, a day when she visits the human world. She chose this day so that you could feel the goddess's grace while receiving healing."

The woman in the green dress blinked, as if she hadn't quite caught the second half of the sentence, only grasping the first half.

"Isn't that the day after tomorrow?"

"Yes."

"Then we'll come, and you'll treat us?"

"We'll treat you, but you need to come early, as the number of spots available for each free clinic is limited."

The woman in the green dress moved even closer.

"Sir, would it be alright if we came to pray tomorrow?"

"sure."

"Then I'll pray now." She closed her eyes, clasped her hands together, and murmured something. After a couple of sentences, she leaned closer to Wayne, opening her eyes a crack to peek at his reaction.

The other women were not to be outdone and gathered around.

Emma suddenly appeared from the side, blocking Wayne's path, her dark eyes glaring at the women.

"What are you doing! Stay away from the master!"

Ella squeezed in from behind and stood next to her sister, her face flushed red, but she still mustered up the courage to speak.

"The Lord, the Master has to go on with his business. If you want to pray, there are benches over there."

Two little girls flanked Wayne, shielding him from behind. Emma stood with her hands on her hips, while Ella clenched her fists, both their faces tense.

The prostitutes exchanged glances.

They couldn't help but laugh out loud.

"Oh dear, these two little girls are quite fierce."

"It's not even fully grown yet, and it already knows how to protect its owner."

"Or is it that adults have a particular taste for this?"

The women laughed even louder.

"Alright, alright, we'll stop fooling around." The woman in the green dress took two steps back, winked at Wayne, and said, "Friday it is, we'll come back then. Don't forget about us, sir."

Several women walked towards the door laughing. The woman in the green dress took a couple of steps, then turned back and waved to Wayne.

"See you on Friday, sir!"

The footsteps faded into the distance, and the church fell silent.

Emma was still standing there with her hands on her hips, looking sullen.

"Who do you think you are, coming to pray and then getting handsy?"

Ella nodded beside her, quietly agreeing.

"that is."

Wayne looked at the two little ones in front of him and smiled.

"Alright, everyone's gone."

Emma looked up, her round, pale red eyes visible.

"Master, if they come again, please ignore them. Leave them to us!"

Wayne couldn't help but laugh.

"Alright, alright, I'll leave it to you."

Wien added.

"But remember, don't sleep in too late."

As they spoke, the two girls blushed.

At the church entrance, several prostitutes were walking downstairs. The one in the green dress was at the front, her pace slower than when she had come.

"This bishop is really different from the others."

The person next to him chimed in.

"What's different?"

"I can't quite put my finger on it. It's just..." she thought for a moment, "it just made me feel like I shouldn't have acted that way in front of him."

As they chatted, they started talking about Lisa, who was standing nearby.

"I heard you're planning to leave the Rose Garden?"

"Um……"

"Lisa, why are you crying?"

Who is crying? The wind has blinded them.

"Come on, where did this wind come from..."

"It's the wind."

"Go, go, wind, wind..."
