Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 48 The Cursed Mayor's Daughter
After a simple breakfast, Wayne sat in the yard. Before he had even finished cleaning up the dishes, a notification popped up on the control panel.
[Cuiying Street Morning Post - Rose Courtyard Special Edition]
The first thing Lisa did upon returning to the Rose Garden was to take a bath, which lasted a full hour. When she stood in the Rose Garden's main hall, rolling up her sleeves to show everyone, the entire garden fell silent.
[The prostitutes' reactions: first shock, then disbelief, then a rush to touch, all exclaiming that it was a miracle.]
[Note: Almost all of them had hosted members from previous church administrations. They found it incredible that flowers could bloom from cow dung.]
[P.S. They've decided to come back as a group tomorrow.]
[Furthermore: The madam remained skeptical after learning of this. Having worked in this industry for thirty years, she had seen far too many scams. She reprimanded those who exaggerated, telling them to keep quiet lest they be cheated out of both money and their bodies. But she herself secretly glanced at Lisa's arm three times.]
After looking at the panel, Wayne picked up his cup and took a sip of water.
The prostitutes are coming in groups tomorrow.
We need to consider setting some rules.
After the meal, Mayfair came over. She had changed into clean clothes and had her hair combed again, tucked into a headscarf.
"Your Excellency, Bishop."
Wayne looked at her.
"What's wrong?"
Mayfair nodded.
"Someone came to see me this morning," she said, "and asked me to conduct a funeral mass for the deceased, so I have to go out today."
"Who is it?"
"She's from town. Her husband died last night. She's poor and can't afford a proper funeral director. She heard there was a new couple at the church, so she came to ask."
Wayne looked at her.
"Do you need me to go with you?"
Mayfair shook her head.
"No need. I can handle the funeral mass by myself." She paused, "You just focus on treating Wendy."
Wayne nodded.
Go early and come back early.
Mayfair responded and turned to walk out.
It was around noon.
Wayne arrived at the house in the backyard of the church.
She sat in a chair by the window, her light brown eyes looking out. She turned her head when she heard footsteps.
"Your Majesty Bishop."
Wayne nodded.
"Let's begin."
Wendy stood up and walked to the center of the room. She was wearing a light blue dress today, which Vera had found for her yesterday. It was washed and clean, and although it was a bit old, it was much better than the dress she had worn when she arrived.
Wayne asked her to sit down, and then sat opposite her.
"It will be a bit deeper today than yesterday," he said.
"It might hurt."
Wendy nodded.
"I'm not afraid."
Wayne raised his hand, and water elements began to condense.
Wendy closed her eyes.
I didn't feel anything at first.
The second breath, my chest began to feel warm.
In the third breath, the heat transformed into a needle, piercing the spot in her chest that had been blocked for years.
She frowned slightly.
"pain?"
"A little."
Wayne didn't stop.
The water element continued its downward flow, from the top of the head to the neck, from the neck to the chest, and from the chest to the lower abdomen. Yesterday, he had only opened a small opening, loosening the blockage somewhat. Today, his task was to widen that opening further, allowing more of the stagnant magical element to flow.
Wendy's forehead began to sweat.
But she didn't say anything.
Wien uses the water element to sense her state.
My heart started racing.
My breathing has become heavier.
But it's still within a controllable range.
Another fifteen minutes passed before Wayne released his grip.
That's all for today.
Wendy opened her eyes, panting heavily.
"Your Excellency..." she began, her voice slightly hoarse, "I feel much better."
Wayne nodded.
"That's normal. Come again tomorrow. Once the demonic elements in your body have completely circulated, take the medicine again, and the problem will be completely resolved."
Wendy stood up, her legs a little weak, and she swayed before regaining her balance. She bowed to Wayne and turned to leave.
When Wendy pushed open the gate, her steps were much slower than when she came in.
It wasn't because my legs were weak.
The tingling sensation had spread from her legs to her lower abdomen, like something was sinking down, heavy, hot, and swollen. She squeezed her legs together, taking small steps, afraid that any larger movement would make her look foolish.
Vera was airing out the blankets in the yard when she saw her come out, so she put down what she was doing and came over.
"Wendy? What's wrong? Your face is so red?"
Wendy shook her head.
"N-nothing."
……
Meanwhile, at the Baron's mansion on the hilltop.
Several doctors came, all the best in town. One after another they went in, one after another they came out, and the expressions on their faces were getting uglier with each passing day.
"We can't find anything wrong," the first doctor said. "Pulse, temperature, and breathing are all normal. But the person just won't wake up."
"This is no ordinary illness," the second doctor said. "In my thirty years of practice, I have never seen such symptoms before."
The oldest doctor was the last to come out. He stood at the door in silence for a long time before finally speaking.
"It's like a curse."
The butler's expression changed.
"curse?"
The old doctor nodded.
"This kind of thing used to be popular in some places in the south. It was also in the capital. Noble ladies liked to try new things, and sometimes things went wrong. This is what happens. People fall asleep and never wake up, and no medicine can cure them. Some people say it's a curse from the devil..."
The butler relayed this to Mayor Wilford.
Wilford sat in his study, a pile of account books spread out in front of him, unable to concentrate on a single word. He rubbed his temples, his expression grim.
"A curse..." he murmured.
The butler stood to the side and said cautiously.
"Sir, should we ask them to take a look?"
Wilford looked up at him.
"they?"
The butler lowered his voice.
"Those women on the mountain."
Wilford frowned.
He knew perfectly well who the butler was referring to. Those witches had been operating in Frost Town for countless years, even before he, the town mayor, had arrived. The reason he had been able to remain mayor for so many years was because he had kept to himself and them.
Should we send him to ask them for help now?
"Master," the butler spoke again, "Miss's illness is beyond the capabilities of ordinary doctors. Although those women... they are indeed skilled."
Wilford didn't say anything.
Footsteps sounded outside the door, and the door was pushed open.
Wilford's wife came in.
She was in her thirties, well-maintained, with a fair complexion from years of pampered living, but at this moment her face was full of anxiety.
"Wilford," she began, "what did the doctor say?"
Wilford did not answer.
"I'm asking you a question!"
"It's a curse," Wilford said.
The woman's expression changed.
"A curse? What curse?"
Wilford relayed the old doctor's words. The woman listened in silence for a moment.
"Then go find someone to treat it."
"Who should I look for?"
"If the doctor won't do, find someone else. Don't you know those people up in the mountains?"
Wilford looked at her.
"You want me to go find the witch?"
"So what if she's a witch? As long as she can save your daughter!"
Wilford remained silent for a long time.
Of course he could go to those witches. He knew their abilities and believed they could cure the curse. But to ask for help, one must humble oneself. He'd been the mayor of Frost Town for so many years; when had he ever bowed his head to those women?
"How about..." the butler whispered from the side.
"Should we go ask at the church?"
