Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 45 He really is a good person
Battle Qi is the ticket for a warrior to advance to the fourth rank.
This is the only means for ordinary individuals to fight against those favored by the gods and extraordinary beings. However, very few people in this world can hone their battle aura; countless people spend their entire lives stuck at the third rank, never able to reach that threshold.
Wayne looked down at his hands.
His fist was still warm. When he threw that punch, he clearly felt something rush out of his body. It wasn't wind, it wasn't magic, it was another kind of more fundamental power.
Battle spirit.
He actually managed to condense battle aura after just one soak in a magic potion. If those warriors who had trained hard for decades knew this, they would probably be furious.
Just as I finished buttoning my shirt, footsteps approached the door.
"Owner!"
Emma's voice.
Wayne turned around, and the door had already been pushed open.
Emma stood in the doorway, looking up at him. Ella followed behind her, carrying a tray with a few pieces of bread and a bowl of hot soup.
"Master, dinner's ready!"
Emma paused for a moment after she finished speaking.
She blinked and stared at Wayne.
"Master, you seem to be..."
Ella also looked up at Wayne.
"It seems...to have changed?"
Wayne looked down at himself.
"What has changed?"
Emma tilted her head and thought for a moment.
"I can't quite put my finger on it, it's just...it seems more...more..." than before.
She couldn't find the words.
Ella chimed in quietly from the side.
"It looks even better."
Emma nodded vigorously.
"Yes! It looks even better!"
Wayne paused for a moment.
He walked to the water vat in the yard and looked down at it.
A face was reflected in the water.
It's still the same face.
The facial features haven't changed, the overall shape hasn't changed.
But her skin seemed firmer than before, her eyes looked deeper, and even her already beautiful lines became smoother.
Dragon Blood Elixir is not just for strengthening the body.
They even refreshed the appearance.
Wayne withdrew his gaze and turned to walk back.
"Let's go eat."
An oil lamp was lit in the courtyard, and the girls sat around a broken table with the dinner Vera had just prepared in front of them.
Wayne walked over and sat down in the empty chair.
Ella handed her a bowl of soup, which was still warm on the rim.
He took it and took a sip.
Not bad.
Vera's cooking skills are indeed excellent.
Emma, who was chewing bread beside her, suddenly looked up.
"Hey, where's Lillian?"
Ella was also taken aback for a moment and looked around.
"She went out this afternoon and hasn't come back yet."
Wayne paused for a moment.
He put down his bowl and looked toward the courtyard gate.
Just then, the courtyard gate was pushed open from the outside.
A red cloak peeked in first, then the person appeared. Lillian stood in the doorway and waved to them.
"I'm back!"
Emma jumped off the chair and ran over.
"Sister Lillian! Why are you only just getting back? We're almost finished eating!"
Lillian smiled and ruffled her hair.
"Something came up and I was held up."
She came over and sat down next to Wayne.
Wayne looked at her.
"Where did you go?"
Lillian blinked.
"Just browsing around, didn't I tell you?"
Wayne didn't say anything.
Two seconds later, the panel popped up.
Name: Lillian
Current status: Feeling guilty, but trying to act normal.
[Today's Experiences: Went to the Witch Cult's stronghold, met with the leader Christina, and was ordered to strip naked for a search. The four-leaf clover mark on my back was discovered. The cult gave her a choice: kill me, or prove I'm a good person.]
[Note: She chose the latter. Now all she can think about is how to prove you're a good person; she's completely oblivious to the fact that the cult has used her as a pawn to test you.]
[Note 2: She's not stupid, she's naive. Naive people are easily trusting and easily taken advantage of.]
[Note 3: Christina's assessment of her is "Jaina's granddaughter, adorably silly."]
After looking at the panel, Wayne remained silent for two seconds.
The Witch Cult.
Sure enough, they came knocking on our door.
But who is this Jaina?
He picked up the bowl and continued drinking the soup.
Lillian glanced at him furtively from the side, then quickly looked away.
Emma came closer.
"Sister Lillian, did you find any fun places to visit?"
Lillian snapped out of her daze.
"Oh? Oh, yes, there is. There's a square on the mountain, and lots of people set up stalls there. It's much more lively than down the mountain."
Emma's eyes lit up.
"Really? I want to go tomorrow too!"
Lillian nodded.
"Okay, I'll take you tomorrow."
As she spoke, she glanced at Wayne again, stealing a look.
After dinner, Vera cleared away the dishes, and the girls went back to their rooms. Wayne sat in the yard, looking at the sparse stars in the night sky.
Footsteps sounded behind me.
Lillian walked over and stood next to him.
"Mr. Wayne."
Wayne didn't turn around.
"What's wrong?"
Lillian remained silent for a moment.
I have a question for you.
"ask."
Lillian bit her lip.
"Why...why are you so nice to the witch?"
Wayne turned around and looked at her.
Under the moonlight, those brown eyes shone brightly, carrying a serious expression.
"You want to hear the truth?"
Lillian nodded.
Wayne thought for a moment.
"Because they are human beings."
Lillian was stunned.
Wayne continued, "Witches are human too. They get hungry, feel pain, are afraid, and want to live. I just did what a human should do."
Lillian stood there, speechless for a long time.
After a while, she suddenly smiled.
"I knew it, Mr. Wayne is a good man."
She turned and walked back, her red cloak billowing in the moonlight, her steps lighter than when she came.
As she reached the door, she suddenly turned back.
"Mr. Wayne!"
Wayne looked at her.
Lillian grinned.
"Good night!"
The door closed.
The courtyard fell silent.
Wayne turned his gaze back to the night sky.
Is he a good person?
Maybe.
At least in this godforsaken place, he can still afford the price of being a good person.
What if I can't afford it?
Do your best! After all, this is his bottom line.
Meanwhile, at the top of Frost Town.
The baron's mansion occupied the best location in the area, complete with a courtyard and garden, and guarded by two leather-armored guards at the gate. Viewed from the foot of the hill, the mansion was the most prominent building in the entire town.
On the second floor, a light was on in one of the windows.
The room was exquisitely decorated, with embroidered curtains, a carved bed frame, a floor covered with thick carpets, and a full-length mirror with gold trim.
A girl of about seventeen or eighteen years old sat on the edge of the bed, holding an oil painting in her hands. The painting itself was not large, not much bigger than an open book.
The girl looked up.
"Are you sure this painting is useful?"
The servant standing by the bed bowed.
"Miss, you're absolutely right. As long as you're willing to put in the effort, it will fulfill all your wishes."
The girl stared at him.
Have you tried it?
The servant shook his head.
"I haven't tried it. But the person selling the painting said it came from the south and is very popular in the capital. Many noble ladies are begging for it, and it can grant any wish."
The girl gripped the picture frame tightly.
"What do you have to give in return?"
The servant bowed his head.
"The person selling the paintings didn't say that."
The girl frowned.
"You dared to buy it without knowing?"
The servant raised his head.
"Miss, the person selling the paintings said that the painting will tell you what you want, and it will also tell you what you're willing to pay." He paused, "I think that since it's popular in the capital, it probably won't harm anyone."
The girl remained silent for a while.
She looked down at the painting in her hand.
The oil lamp flickered, and the eyes in the picture seemed to move.
She shivered.
"You can go out now."
The servant bowed and withdrew.
