Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong

Chapter 355 Eight Forbidden Objects

Faced with Evelyn's questioning, Wayne quickly corrected his attitude: "Your Majesty is too kind. It is an honor for me as a citizen of Wiggins to contribute to the kingdom."

Evelyn glanced at Wayne.

"Alright, I won't let you work for nothing. I see you're almost at the fifth rank, right? If you do well, the kingdom will prepare all the magic potions you need to break through to the fifth rank."

Wayne was pleasantly surprised; he hadn't expected his efforts to be worthwhile. He quickly bowed and said, "Thank you, Your Majesty."

Evelyn waved her hand: "Don't thank me yet. Forbidden items aren't so easy to retrieve; a slight mistake can get you into serious trouble. Falcon will tell you everything about which forbidden items need to be retrieved. Her knowledge in this area is far more detailed than the dusty files in the Black Order's archives."

After she finished speaking, her gaze lingered on Wayne's face for a moment.

"Any other questions?"

"No, thank you for clearing up my doubts, Your Majesty."

The crystal ball's light dimmed, the image vanished, and only the smooth crystal remained on the table, as if nothing had happened.

Falcon stepped forward, put the crystal ball back into her portable pouch, and after putting her things away, she turned to Wayne: "Master, would you like to learn about the forbidden item now?"

Wayne nodded.

"Okay, tell me the specifics of the situation."

Falcon took half a step forward, without flipping through any papers or notes, clearly indicating that she already knew this information by heart.

"Currently, there are eight high-level prohibited items that are on record but have not yet been recovered. All eight items escaped from the Jedi Temple five years ago and their whereabouts remain unknown. There are intelligence leads suggesting the whereabouts of four of them, while the remaining four have completely disappeared without any reliable eyewitness accounts."

She paused slightly, then added, "Furthermore, according to the latest time window calculations, there are approximately five months left until the Millennium Purple Sun descends. In other words, you need to complete the recovery of these eight forbidden items within five months."

Instead of immediately addressing the time pressure, Wayne asked a more practical question first: "Which eight items are they specifically?"

"These eight forbidden items are: Lilith's Doll, the Gluttony Vessel, the City of Eternal Slumber, the War Horn, the Eye of the Abyss, the Plague Bottle, the Hourglass of Time, and the Crown of Shadows."

Falcon then proceeded to explain the details of each prohibited item.

"Of the eight forbidden items, only three have leads: the City of Eternal Slumber, the Dish of Gluttony, and the War Horn. There are currently no leads for the other five."

Wayne listened very attentively.

"Let's start with the leads!"

Falcon nodded and briefly summarized the known information about the three forbidden items.

"The Plate of Gluttony was last seen three months ago in a slum on the eastern outskirts of the capital. It was suspected to have been picked up by a homeless man. Trackers found a large amount of abnormal food scraps and magical residue at the scene, but were unable to identify the owner."

"The City of Eternal Slumber is located about 120 miles southwest of the capital. More than a year ago, the city suddenly lost all contact with the outside world, and the passages in and out were blocked by an unknown force. The first three groups of messengers sent to investigate all lost contact, and the fourth group finally had someone return alive, but the person who returned had gone completely insane, repeatedly muttering the words 'Can't sleep,' and died three days later from severe magic depletion."

"The last clearly documented rumor of the war horn was heard in a border town in the Kande region in the northwest. Some said they heard the horn in the middle of the night, and the next morning a large-scale brawl broke out in the town, resulting in thousands of deaths and injuries. The local lord tried to suppress the news, but the horn would sound again every few days, each time accompanied by new bloodshed."

Falcon paused for a moment, then continued, "Regarding the war horn, the information available in the capital is indeed limited. The situation in Kant is chaotic, making it difficult for our people to infiltrate."

Wayne stretched and stood up.

"Since I have nothing else to do today, let's start by investigating the Gluttony Plate!"

Falcon asked, "My lord, shall I go with you?"

Wayne shook his head.

"No need, I'm just going for a quick look around. If you don't mind, you and your team can disband and rest."

"Understood, sir!" Falcon replied crisply.

Her panel then appeared.

[Falcon - Current Status]

She breathed a sigh of relief upon learning that she didn't need to accompany the investigation. Those kinds of contraband items—getting involved would only bring her trouble. Instead of wasting time running errands at dangerous crime scenes, she'd rather stay in the area and scout out a couple of good-looking young men.

[Note: As Her Majesty's secret bodyguard, she has worked for many years and accumulated a considerable salary. She even began personally sponsoring several orphanages five years ago, proactively planning her own son's upbringing.]

[Note 2: She keeps her work and private life very separate.]

After reviewing Falcon's stats, Wayne admitted he was tempted to change his mind, but then decided against it. He wasn't exactly a person with a perverse sense of humor, and there was no need to force someone into something just because he wanted some entertainment.

So he turned and walked to the old sofa in the corner of the hall, and reached out to pat Emily, who was dozing off against the armrest.

Emily groggily opened her eyes, saw it was Wayne, rubbed her eyes, and mumbled, "Sir... what's wrong?"

"Let's go to the slums in the eastern suburbs."

Hearing that they were going out for a walk, Emily immediately perked up, leaping from the sofa: "The eastern suburbs slums? What are we going to investigate?"

Wayne succinctly stated, "Investigate the case."

At this moment, Anka stood up: "Sir, the case you mentioned... is it about contraband?"

Wayne glanced at her with slight surprise.

How did you know?

"Captain Falcon briefly mentioned to me this morning that the Black Order's main focus in the future will be the realm of forbidden objects," Anka said, his expression becoming more serious. "This morning I went through all the files in the Black Order's archives that were related to forbidden objects, including some loose pages that weren't even listed in the catalog. Even so, the usable information is still quite limited."

"Sir, shall I go with you?" Anka took a half step forward, her tone filled with obvious worry. "I know the eastern suburbs slums better than you do. I've been there a few times when investigating cases before. Besides, prohibited items are no ordinary cases. Having another person means having another pair of eyes, and we might be able to discover some details that you might have overlooked."

Wayne glanced at her, then shook his head.

"You stay here. The things involved in forbidden items are not comparable to ordinary cases, and your abilities won't be of much help. On the contrary, you can play a greater role by staying with the Black Order."

Anka knew that Wayne was right. The combat power of a fourth-level body cultivator was indeed beyond her reach, and forcing herself to follow would only hold her back.

"Understood. Please be careful. If you need any support, please send someone back immediately."

"it is good."
