Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 353 New Combat Strength
When Wayne stepped through the gates of the Black Order.
Anka was already standing in the lobby waiting.
When she saw Wayne come in, she immediately went to greet him.
"My lord, this is a letter from Cardinal Cecil to you this morning, sent through a private channel."
Wayne took the envelope.
Cecil didn't exchange many pleasantries in the letter. He first affirmed Cecil's recent performance, praising his perfect timing and tact in every step, from the attack on the Marquis's mansion to the standoff in front of St. George's Gate.
But at the end of the letter, the tone shifts.
Cecil subtly pointed out that witches are a double-edged sword, urging him to handle them with care. The rest was nothing more than advice and guidance.
After Wayne finished reading.
Anka went on to talk about something else.
"My lord, there's one more thing. This morning, a troop of people also arrived from the palace." She lowered her voice, her expression subtly suggestive. "I heard that the troop that came was sent by Her Majesty the Queen to assist you."
Wayne's gaze sharpened slightly.
Where is the person now?
Anka tilted her head towards the corridor at the back of the hall: "They're making preparations in the backyard. There are eight people in total, and the leader is a woman who doesn't look like an ordinary palace guard."
"I'll go take a look." Without asking any further questions, Wayne walked directly towards the backyard.
As he walked through the corridor and pushed open the back door, the sight in the backyard made him pause slightly.
Eight people, lined up neatly in two rows.
The armor was all dark black, without any markings or family crests.
The leader was a woman who looked to be about twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old. Her short hair was neatly tucked behind her ears, and a slender straight knife hung at her waist. She stood upright with a calm and steady gaze.
She saw Wayne walk into the backyard, took a step forward, placed her right hand on her chest, and gave a simple bow.
"Manager Wayne, I am Falcon. By order of Her Majesty the Queen, I am hereby incorporated into the Black Order's combat ranks, effective immediately. These seven individuals were personally selected by me; please review them, Manager."
Wayne's gaze shifted from Falcon's face, sweeping over the seven equally expressionless faces behind her. Four men and three women, their breathing steady, their positions relaxed yet maintaining a subtle, unspoken understanding between them.
The panel unfolds at this moment.
[Falcon - Character Information]
[Position: Vice-captain of the Third Squad of the Royal Palace Guards, a mid-stage Tier 5 assassin. One of Queen Evelyn's direct bodyguards.]
[Background: An orphan who grew up in the royal palace's secret guard training camp, skilled in infiltration, reconnaissance, assassination, and squad command. His only loyalty is to Queen Evelyn.]
[Note: Her orders were to "assist Wayne in managing all his work within the Black Order and, if necessary, ensure his personal safety." The subtext of this order was that the Queen did not want to see her newly promoted pawn secretly eliminated by the old guard before it could reach its full potential.]
[P.S.: You're not her type; she likes cute boys.]
[Basic Information of the Other Seven Members]
[Identity: All are junior members of the Royal Palace's secret guard system, selected by Falcon. Their ranks are distributed as follows: three are at the early stage of Rank 4, and four are at the peak of Rank 3. Their professional roles cover direct combat, ranged support, and reconnaissance/infiltration, with no obvious weaknesses.]
[Note: All seven have received thorough loyalty training, and like Falcon, their primary loyalty always rests with Queen Evelyn. However, provided they do not go against the Queen's will, they will completely obey Falcon's commands, and Falcon will currently cooperate with your plans.]
After reviewing the panel, Wayne had a general idea of what was going on and understood Evelyn's intentions. It was to ensure his combat strength for future actions and to keep an eye on him to ensure that he would not completely escape her control.
He withdrew his gaze and nodded to Falcon: "I understand. The Black Order's current base has limited facilities, so please make do for now. I will arrange for the subsequent expansion of the base as soon as possible."
Without any unnecessary formalities, Falcon simply replied, "Yes."
Wayne didn't continue the pleasantries and turned to walk back into the hall.
Anka had been waiting inside the hall. Seeing him return, she stepped forward and asked in a low voice, "My lord, are those people from the palace... reliable?"
"Reliable, yet unreliable."
Anka was slightly taken aback: "What do you mean by that?"
Wayne didn't mince words: "They are the Queen's men. As long as our actions don't infringe on the interests of the royal family, they are our most reliable weapon. But if one day we do something beyond the Queen's permission, they will not hesitate to turn their blades against us."
He paused for a moment, then explained to Anka.
"So, you can use them to do things, but don't reveal all your cards to them. Do you understand what I mean?"
Anka nodded.
"Understood, sir."
Turning to her concern, Anka asked, "Sir, will my sister and Miss Emily continue working here?"
Without hesitation, Wayne said, "Of course they should continue. They should continue doing what they need to do, without deliberately avoiding anyone just because the people from the palace are there. The more natural they are, the less attention they will attract."
Anka was still somewhat worried: "But sir... what if the people on Falcon's side notice Emily or Anise's unusual magical fluctuations..."
Wayne waved his hand: "Don't worry about that. In the face of real power, we subordinates don't have much privacy anyway. The Queen already knows their identities. Besides, the Queen sent the Falcon here to ensure the Black Order can operate normally, not to expose our secrets. As long as we don't do anything that crosses her bottom line, she won't touch us."
Anka relaxed slightly after hearing this, but a hint of caution remained in her eyes: "What if... something unexpected really happens? Like someone deliberately investigating, or someone tipping you off?"
Wayne glanced at her and gave a simple and practical answer: "It depends. If it really comes to that, we'll fight for what we should fight for and protect what we should protect. But right now, there's no need to tie our hands for risks that haven't even happened yet."
After finishing a few trivial matters, Wayne returned to his office in the Black Order.
Not long after, Falcon knocked on the door.
"Please come in!"
The person who entered the office was Falcon.
"Your Excellency, Her Majesty the Queen wishes to see you."
Wayne asked doubtfully, "Now?"
The falcon nodded.
Wayne made a move to get up, but Falcon stopped him.
"No need to go to the palace, we can stay right here."
Falcon took out the crystal ball, placed it in the open space in the center of the desk, and then took a half step back.
Soon, the queen's image was projected.
She was dressed in a casual dark red outfit, holding a steaming cup of black tea, her gaze fixed on Wayne through the image.
Wayne was the first to stand up and bow.
"Your Majesty, it's been a long time."
Evelyn's voice came from the crystal ball: "Alright, enough of those fancy formalities. I didn't call you here to hear you bow."
Wayne straightened up, waiting for her to continue.
Evelyn then began praising Wayne.
"You did a good job yesterday. I've been wanting to have someone smash that door in St. George for a while, but I just haven't found the right person to do it."
Not only did you smash it, you smashed it beautifully, leaving that old bastard Carrosso speechless and unable to complain. Very good.
"It seems that making you the head of the Black Order is indeed a good choice."
