Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 342 On the Eve of the Assassination
Two days is neither a long nor a short time.
It was the morning before the assassination.
Inside St. George's Cathedral.
Carrosso sat at the head of the long table, his gaze fixed on Edmund across from him: "Is everything ready?"
Edmund bowed slightly: "Everything is ready. Five witches, three fifth-tier death servants, and twelve high-ranking death row inmates are all in position. The array and barrier have also been set up around the Marquis's mansion to ensure that there will be no external interference during the operation."
Carrosso nodded, but his gaze remained unfocused. He paused for two seconds before asking again, "Have you heard the rumors circulating in the city these past few days? The stories of those missing girls are all over the place, saying the Holy Knights are randomly arresting people. And what do you think that Wayne is really up to?"
Edmund looked up, a hint of disdain in his voice: "Teacher, I think he's just asking for trouble. He's probably eager to make a name for himself, trying to find something to prove the Black Order's renewed value, but he has no idea that those missing girls are the witches we captured. But it doesn't matter anymore; after tonight, he won't be able to investigate anymore."
After listening, Carroso leaned back in his chair, gazing at the mural on the ceiling depicting St. George slaying the dragon, and let out a long sigh: "I hope so."
Meanwhile, in an inconspicuous secret room in the capital.
The candlelight flickered, and five figures sat in a circle.
The leader was a woman of about twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old. She was dressed in a dark gray night outfit that allowed for easy movement, and her short hair was neatly tucked behind her ears. She was Lin, the second-in-command of the Witch Cult in the capital, and the nominal leader of tonight's assassination operation.
A young witch beside her lowered her voice and asked, "Second Sister, what exactly do you need us to do tonight? Give us a straight answer so we can have a better idea of what to do."
Lin did not answer immediately.
She raised a finger to her lips, making a shushing gesture, then glanced towards the wall, indicating that someone was listening.
The other four sisters immediately understood her meaning, and they all fell silent, no longer asking any further questions.
Lin lowered her hand and calmly instructed, "Just do what you're supposed to do, and don't let the other sisters die in vain."
No one asked any further questions.
At the same time, in the side building of the Marquis's mansion.
An unusual quiet permeated the mansion, both inside and out.
Lynch left early this morning, supposedly to visit an old friend he hadn't seen in years in the suburbs, and wouldn't be back tonight. Alice, on the other hand, packed her clothes in the afternoon and went to Gwen's house to stay, citing "spending the night with a friend" as the reason.
Now, apart from the necessary guards and a few absolutely trustworthy old servants, there are basically no irrelevant people left in the Marquis's mansion.
There were no lights on in the side building.
Tiffany pondered the strange magic circle.
Hilda squatted down beside her, hands on her knees, tilting her head and staring at it for a long time before finally asking, "Big sister, is this magic circle of yours really useful? I've been looking at it for ages, but I can't figure out what it's all about. What if it just turns into smoke when it's activated?"
Tiffany didn't even look up, his hands never stopping. He was very confident in his masterpiece: "Don't worry, they'll never return. This is one of the heirlooms my mother left me, an improved version of the Trapping Killing Array. Once someone steps into the array, no one below the fourth rank can leave alive."
At that moment, Salia suddenly asked.
"By the way, where is Mr. Wayne?"
Tiffany paused slightly, looked up, and asked with a hint of confusion, "Huh? Didn't he just say he was coming over to take a look?"
Hilda's expression became subtle, her gaze drifting slightly towards the stairwell: "He's probably in the room with Emily... probably discussing the details of the operation."
When Salia, who was sitting next to him wiping her dagger, heard this version of "discussing the details," she paused involuntarily.
She looked up, her gaze falling on Hilda's slightly flushed face. She knew exactly what Hilda was thinking: "What? Envious?"
Hilda became guilty.
"I didn't! I...I..."
In the end, Hilda couldn't come up with a satisfactory explanation.
Salia didn't expose her little schemes, but simply added leisurely, "Some things require courage, little Hilda, you're still too green."
Hearing Salia speak so casually, Hilda put her hands on her hips and snorted, "As if you dare."
Salia, who was straightforward by nature, was immediately ignited by what she said.
"I'm not like you, all shy and hesitant."
"If you're so good, then you do it!"
To save face, Salia forced a reply: "Hmph! Go ahead, it's just sleeping, I've never been afraid of that."
Hilda was taken aback by Salia's words, and she stood up: "Hey! I'd like to see how you're going to do it."
The two of them walked to Wayne's room, chatting amongst themselves. Upon reaching the door, Salia finally stopped.
Hilda followed behind her, and the two walked out of the side hall one after the other, through the corridor, and toward Wayne's room.
The hallway was quiet, the sound of their footsteps creaking softly on the wooden floor. Salia paused as she reached Wayne's door. Hilda, following behind, noticed her stop and asked in a low voice, "What's wrong? Scared?"
Salia did not answer her.
She stood outside the door and heard the sounds coming from inside.
"Ah~... Ahhh~... Ahhhh~... Ahhhhh~..."
The sound was intermittent, with obvious panting.
Salia's face flushed crimson instantly, the blush spreading from her cheeks to her ears and neck. She stood frozen in place, as if nailed to the spot, unable to move forward or backward.
No way, really?
Are they that crazy?
What would I be doing going in there?!
Interrupt them?!
Or should I join them?!
Hilda stood behind Salia and heard the commotion inside. Her face flushed, and she began to have second thoughts.
"Sister Sha... how about we come another day?"
Just as Salia was about to use this as an excuse to leave, Wayne's voice rang out from inside the door.
"Come in, you outside."
The two people at the door were stunned at the same time.
The two exchanged a glance: Do we really want to go in?
"What, didn't you come here to see me?"
Salia bit her lip, her gaze lingering on Salia's face for a moment, then she pushed the door open: "Fine, I'll come in!"
The moment the door was pushed open, the scene inside the room was laid bare.
Emily lay on the soft couch beside the bed, her top mostly off, revealing her smooth back and half of her shoulder blade.
However, nothing happened between the two.
At that moment, Wayne was sitting on the edge of the bed, his hands on either side of Emily's shoulder blades, using an extremely professional technique to help her loosen the stiff muscles in her back.
Emily's intermittent sounds were the sore yet pleasurable sounds that Wayne made when he pressed on a certain acupoint on the inside of her shoulder blade.
Salia's mind went blank again.
"Are you... getting a massage?"
Hilda peeked out from behind her and, after seeing everything in the room, her heart, which had been in her throat, immediately settled back down, replaced by obvious disappointment.
She muttered something under her breath.
"Oh, so it was a massage..."
