Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 134 The Witch Cult Left Behind
No one in the Witch Cult will sleep tonight.
The wind on the mountain path was stronger than usual, making the branches of the trees rustle. But the sounds of fighting, the screams of monsters, and the horns from the city walls that came from the foot of the mountain had faded to a faint hum here.
The hall was brightly lit.
Within the cult, almost everyone was restless.
no way.
At this moment, their most cherished possessions are battling endless waves of magical beasts outside the city gates.
It's not that they didn't want to participate.
It's not that they can't participate.
The Order has been entrenched in Frostham for so many years without being discovered by the Holy See, all thanks to its strategy of "hiding." Playing this card well can ensure the peace of Frostham. Playing it poorly, however, means that the iron cavalry of St. Hilde might one day raze this mountain to the ground.
They will not expose themselves unless the city falls.
Today is no exception.
However, rules are rigid, but people are flexible.
They didn't do nothing either.
Dora's bird was observing the battlefield in real time, and Emily's shadow was ready to pull Wayne into the shadows at any moment.
Fortunately, the process was uneventful, and Wayne was already very strong, so he didn't need any help.
Inside the Witch Cult.
Dora sat at the long table, her gaze passing through the window to the battlefield at the foot of the mountain, illuminated by torches.
"Stop looking." Tilulu jumped down from the windowsill, walked to the table and sat down. "Looking won't help."
Dora didn't move.
"I know."
"You know that, yet you still watch it?"
"I just want to see it."
"Where's Lillian?"
"In the side hall," Tilulu pointed towards the corridor, "with those two little girls."
Dora nodded.
The door to the side hall was half open.
Emma and Lillian sat together.
"Sister Lillian."
"Um."
"Will Master really be alright?"
"Yes." Lillian stuffed the remaining cream puff into her mouth, chewed it twice, and swallowed it. "He's very good."
How amazing is it?
"More impressive than you think."
Emma's lips twitched slightly. The answer was as good as no answer at all. She lowered her head and continued examining the cream puff in her hand.
Vera was standing by the table, holding a plate of cream puffs. The plate glowed with a warm yellow light in the candlelight, and the aroma of the cream puffs mixed with the sweetness of the cream filled the side room.
"Vera."
"Um?"
"Did you make this cream puff?"
"Yes." Vera put the plate on the table. "I made it this afternoon. I was going to save it for breakfast tomorrow, but I figured everyone would be too tired to sleep tonight, so I just shared it."
Lillian took another bite of the cream puff and chewed it twice.
"Why does it taste so familiar?"
Vera paused for a moment.
"familiar?"
"Hmm." Lillian tilted her head and thought for a moment, "I feel like I've eaten something similar somewhere before."
Soon, Puff was also assigned to the main hall by Vera.
Those who tasted it raved about it.
Lynette also took one and took a bite.
She chewed a few times, her brows furrowing slightly.
"Why does it taste so familiar?"
Tilu looked at her.
"familiar?"
"Hmm." Lynette took another bite, chewing slowly. "It feels like I've had something similar somewhere before."
Tilulu tilted her head and thought for a moment.
"Don't all cream puffs taste the same?"
"It's different." Lynette turned the remaining cream puff in her hand over and looked at it. "The texture of this cream, the crispness of this shell, the proportion of sweetness... I'm sure I've eaten it somewhere before."
She looked up at Vera.
"Vera, where did you get this cream puff recipe from?"
Vera stood by the table, wiping her hands on her apron.
"It's just... a regular prescription."
Dora blushed when she heard the conversation nearby.
She remembered.
The process of making cream puffs that day.
She remembered every single step clearly.
It actually has little to do with cream puffs.
On the other side, Dora wasn't the only one blushing.
And Ella.
As for Ella, it's purely a case of overthinking.
She never officially made cream puffs with Vera. But in a way, she did; she wasn't a producer of nature, but she was a porter of nature.
After finishing her third cream puff, Tilulu patted the crumbs off her hands and turned to look in the direction of the corridor.
"Hasn't my older sister come out yet?"
Lynette leaned back in her chair, legs crossed, a cup of tea in her hand, her posture as languid as a cat sunbathing.
"It should be soon."
"How long is 'soon'?"
"It'll be soon, it'll be soon."
Tilulu stood up from her chair, walked to the end of the corridor, and glanced inside. The door at the end of the corridor was still closed, with a faint light shining through the crack—the light of a candle.
"She went in this afternoon," Tilulu said, turning around. "It's been several hours now."
"Fourth tier." Lynette put down her teacup, her voice more serious than before. "It's not so easy to break through."
The hall fell silent for a moment.
"Big sister can definitely do it," Emily's voice came from the corner. "She's been preparing for so long, she won't fail."
Tilu sat down again, resting her chin on her hands.
"I know she can do it, I'm just anxious."
"There's no use in being anxious." Lynette picked up her teacup and took another sip. "Breakthroughs can't be rushed. The more anxious you are, the less likely it is to happen. When you stop being anxious, it comes instead."
"Actually," Dora began.
All eyes turned to her.
"Times have changed."
She pushed up her glasses, and her gaze behind the lenses was more serious than usual.
"Thanks to Bishop Wayne's cleansing of the curse, the concentration of the curse within the order has been greatly reduced. The situation where breakthroughs used to result in frequent deaths will no longer occur."
Tilulu's eyes lit up.
"You mean...?"
"I mean," Dora's voice wasn't loud, but every word was clear, "the success rate of breakthroughs is now 80% higher than before."
The hall fell silent for a moment.
Then it exploded like a pot boiling over.
"Eighty percent?"
"Really?"
"Dora, are you sure?"
Dora nodded.
"I've kept data records. Those within the cult who underwent Bishop Wayne's curse cleansing have had their curse concentration reduced to below a safe level. Although not completely eliminated, they no longer trigger a curse backlash during breakthroughs."
She paused.
"In other words, as long as you don't force yourself to push beyond your limits, you'll generally be fine."
Lynette paused for a moment, her hand holding the teacup still.
"So, this time, eldest sister..."
"The success rate is very high," Dora said. "She's been stuck at the peak of the third tier for three years, so she's accumulated enough experience. Plus, Bishop Wayne helped her clear the curse before, so this breakthrough will most likely be successful."
"That's great!" Tilulu leaned forward, her hands on the table. "When our eldest sister comes out, can we celebrate?"
"Don't celebrate yet." Lynette glanced down the hallway. "They haven't come out yet."
No sooner had the words left his mouth than a muffled thud came from the end of the corridor.
Everyone's eyes turned to the corridor at the same time.
Christina walked out from the other end of the corridor.
Her purple hair was loose over her shoulders, a little messier than usual. Her face was a bit pale, but her eyes were bright, shining like two polished purple gems.
She stood at the entrance of the corridor, her gaze sweeping over the people in the lobby, a slight smile playing on her lips.
"Are you all here?"
"Big Sister!" Tilulu was the first to rush forward, stopping in front of her and looking up at her. "Did it work?"
Christina nodded.
"It's done."
"Fourth tier?"
"Fourth tier".
Tilulu's eyes lit up instantly, and she turned around and shouted into the hall, "Big Sister has broken through! Fourth Rank!"
The hall erupted in chaos.
"real?"
"Very good!"
"I knew my older sister could do it!"
