Witch Training Manual: My Water Magic Is Wrong
Chapter 116 Excuses
Kasha's voice came from the corridor.
"Master, can't we stay?"
"We can come back anytime."
Besides, there are still three days left, aren't there?
"Three days is too short."
"What do you mean 'short'? You can get a lot done in three days."
"What can I do?"
Mayfair did not answer.
The footsteps moved from the end of the corridor toward the kitchen.
Vera took two steps back, making room for the doorway.
Mayfair appeared at the door, with Kasha following behind her, wearing that gray dress, the hem still trailing on the ground, but it was half an inch shorter than yesterday, probably because it had been sewn up temporarily.
Mayfair glanced at the people in the kitchen, her gaze lingering on Ella's face for a moment before shifting to Wayne.
"Good morning, Mr. Wayne."
"Good morning. Have you eaten?"
"not yet."
"Sit down and eat together."
Mayfair sat down next to Wayne, and Kasha sat down beside her, her movements natural, as if she were at home. Emma moved closer to Ella, making room for Kasha, her eyes fixed on Kasha's face.
"Sister Kasha."
"Um."
You look even better today.
Kasha's lips curled up slightly.
"It's Lord Wayne's water magic."
Emma opened her mouth slightly, then closed it again. She turned to look at Wayne, her eyes revealing a new layer of emotion.
"Owner."
"Um."
My skin has also been a bit dry lately.
Wayne glanced at her.
"You're only a few years old, why is your skin so dry?"
Emma pouted and looked down to poke at the fried egg in the bowl. The yolk flowed out from the hole and spread a golden yellow color on the white bottom of the bowl.
Mayfair took a sip of milk and put down the bowl.
"Mr. Wayne."
"Um."
"I thought about something last night."
Wayne looked at her.
"What is it?"
"Kasha's contract." Mayfair drew a circle on the table with her finger. "Last night's was just the first step. Necromancer contracts are phased. The first phase is establishing the connection, the second phase is stabilizing the connection, and the third phase..."
She paused for a moment.
"The third phase needs to repeat the first phase."
Wayne put down the bread he was holding.
"What do you mean?"
Mayfair's face flushed slightly.
"It's...it's..."
Kasha finished speaking for her from the side.
"Lord Wayne, what the master means is that what happened last night cannot be done only once, but must be done frequently, otherwise the contract will become unstable."
Mayfair's face flushed red, burning from her cheeks to her ears, and from her ears to her neck, as if she were being roasted over a fire.
"I...that's not what I meant."
"That's what you mean." Kasha's tone was calm. "What you said last night, 'Kasha, from now on we should spend more time with Lord Wayne...'"
"Stop talking!"
Mayfair reached out and covered Kasha's mouth.
Kasha turned her head away, a smirk playing on her lips and a smile playing on her eyes, radiating an air of smug satisfaction that said, "I know everything, but I'm going to say it anyway."
Emma sat opposite, bread in her hand, mouth agape, her pale red eyes darting between Mayfair and Kasha.
"elder sister."
"Um."
"What are they talking about?"
Ella lowered her head, her ears turning as red as if they were about to bleed.
"N-nothing."
"Why are your ears red? It's nothing."
"Not popular."
"It's become famous."
"Not popular."
Emma stared at Ella's ear for a couple of moments, then turned and stared at Mayfair's ear for another couple of moments, her eyebrows furrowed as if she had discovered some incredible secret.
"Oh……"
She dragged out the last syllable.
"I see."
Ella looked up at her nervously.
"What do you know?"
"I know you're whispering."
Ella breathed a sigh of relief.
Emma lowered her head and continued eating her bread, taking a big bite with her cheeks bulging, chewing a couple of times before looking up again.
"Owner."
"Um."
"When will I grow up?"
Wayne looked at her.
Why do we have to grow up?
"You'll understand when you grow up." Emma's tone was very serious. "I can't understand what you're saying. I feel like you're talking about something very important, but I just can't understand it."
Wayne was silent for a moment.
"It's a good thing you don't understand."
Why?
"Because some things, once you understand them, you can never go back."
Emma tilted her head and thought for a moment, but couldn't figure it out. She didn't press the matter. She lowered her head, stuffed the rest of the bread into her mouth, picked up the bowl of milk and drank it all in one gulp, then wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.
"Then I'll listen to it when I'm older."
Mayfair sat beside him, her face still flushed.
She took a deep breath and tried to look normal.
"Mr. Wayne."
"Um."
"That matter...when would be a convenient time for you?"
Wayne looked at her.
"What's convenient?"
"It was...it was Kai'Sa who said it..."
She couldn't continue.
Kasha answered for her from the side.
"tonight."
Mayfair glared at Kasha.
Kasha pretended not to see it.
Wayne leaned back in his chair, glanced at Mayfair, and then at Kasha.
"Not tonight."
Mayfair paused for a moment.
Why?
I have something to do tonight.
"What is it?"
"I promised to sleep with Ella and Emma."
Emma and Ella were both quite happy to hear Wayne say that he would still sleep with them tonight.
Emma grinned, revealing two small fangs, and took another big gulp of milk from her bowl. Ella didn't say anything, but the corners of her mouth curved slightly as she lowered her head and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
Kasha glanced at Wayne from the side.
Then I looked at Mayfair.
She asked the question on Mayfair's behalf.
"Lord Wayne, when will you have time?"
Wayne thought for a moment.
I'm a bit busy during the day.
"In the evening," he said, "right in the examination room, that'll be the perfect time to cleanse Mayfair of the curse."
Emma sat opposite her, her bread finished, jam still clinging to her fingers, which she was licking one strand at a time. Her gaze darted between Mayfair and Kasha, her pale red eyes darting around, before she suddenly spoke.
"So you're talking about curse cleansing."
Emma licked the last finger clean, her tone carrying a sense of relief, as if she had finally figured it out.
"You've been playing games for so long, I thought it was something amazing. It's just Master helping Mayfair clear the curse, isn't it? Isn't that something we do all the time? What's there to hide?"
She paused, then added.
"What 'first phase, second phase, third phase'? It sounds like you're talking about a war."
Mayfair nodded quickly.
"Yes, yes, it's curse cleansing."
Her tone was very sincere, almost to the point of being overly sincere, as if she were desperately trying to prove something that was actually nothing.
"The death aura around me has gotten stronger lately. Last night, when I was summoning spirits in the graveyard, the aura of the dead backfired badly. Mr. Wayne's water magic can neutralize the death aura, so... so I need to cleanse myself regularly."
After she finished speaking, she picked up the bowl of milk and took a sip.
Wayne stood up.
"Then it's settled. Evening, in the examination room."
Wayne walked away from the table and, as he passed Ella, reached out and ruffled the top of her head. Ella's hair, which she had just combed, bounced up a few strands after he ruffled it, but she didn't seem to mind, keeping her head down with a slight smile on her lips.
"Master, where are you going?"
Wayne stopped and turned around.
Emma was looking at him barefoot.
"lobby."
"What are you doing in the front hall?"
"Prepare elf potions for the people of town."
Emma's eyes lit up, and she jumped off the chair, ran over to Wayne, and grabbed his sleeve.
"I'm going too!"
Wayne glanced down at her.
"You can go, but don't cause trouble."
"Don't cause trouble!" Emma's voice was clear and loud. She turned and called into the kitchen, "Sister! Come quick! Master is about to perform magic!"
Ella followed them out.
The three people walked towards the front hall.
[Ella - Current Status]
[Status: Satisfied. Not the kind of satisfaction you get from being full, but a different kind. She only completed half of her plan this morning, but the results were three times better than she had anticipated. She had thought her master would pretend not to know, but to her surprise, he asked directly. Not only did he ask, but he also smiled and said, "As long as you're happy."]
[Note: She's thinking about a problem. Should she wake up earlier tomorrow morning than today? After thinking for a long time, the answer is: yes. But she hasn't decided what to do next. She's learning quickly, but she doesn't have enough textbooks.]
[Note 2: Not enough textbooks? There are just too many textbooks these days...]
