In another world, Lu Mingfei is learning card making.

Chapter 30 Could My Magical Spirit Harm Me?

—Okay, to be honest, Lu Mingfei didn't really understand what that senior student meant by "dewdrops of all living beings".

After all, his theology class was in the fifth week, and there were still two weeks left before it started—if you take into account the travel time to and from Earth, the actual interval should be five weeks, or even more than a month.

But the "dewdrop" that this senior mentioned was obviously not the point. What she meant was to first make the meaning of that item "significant" and then use a transmutation circle to refine it so that the final product was as close as possible to the item used as the material.

In a sense, this method is completely opposite to the one Lu Mingfei used when he first created the "Human Transmutation Pot":

That time, Lu Ming's goal was to break down the materials and extract the more valuable information from them; this time, Lu Ming's goal is to preserve and restore the information as much as possible, and ultimately create the "Witch Matou Sakura" from the Philosopher's Stone.

The broken materials are a subtraction. If Lu Mingfei had really only dripped a drop of blood into it, the final result should have been to extract the concept of "extraordinary creature" and then restore a magical spirit through the transmutation circle.

But this time, it's different. Lu Mingfei can't just "subtract"; he has to "add": he needs to add items with the same relevant information and break them beforehand to preserve as much of what Lu Mingfei wants to save as possible.

"So... it seems I can actually do it right now?" As Lu Mingfei listened to her words, his movements gradually changed from lying down to sitting up, and finally to listening intently with his hands on his knees.

"But before the actual production, the materials must be refined using an ascension technique—a true ascension technique. Elements that are compatible with the materials are first refined and incorporated into the materials to be refined. During the refining process, these elements must be broken apart, and the core material is shattered by the magic array into meaningless streams of magic power..."

"I can satisfy that. Besides that unique Philosopher's Stone, there are many similar 'Insect Philosopher's Stones'."

"As for the card-making arrays, I can learn some of them from the library, and I'm sure Lacey won't mind giving me some necessary help; as for the design part, I should be able to ask the cardinal acolyte for help..."

Lu Mingfei tapped his fingers lightly on the back of his hand, and even opened the comprehensive network interface, using the 'memo' to write down all the magic arrays mentioned in the senior's discussion, until they found a new direction for their discussion.

Looking at the extensive content spread across more than half a page on the integrated network panel, Lu Mingfei took a deep breath, slowly exhaled, and got up from his seat.

"Okay, I have an idea. All that's left is to slowly fill in the puzzle pieces..." Lu Mingfei thought as he walked up the stairs, but the next moment, a force struck his shoulder.

Some people rush down the stairs without even looking where they're going.

Lu Mingfei looked at the red hair that disappeared into the spiral staircase, his brows slowly furrowing.

Is that Rong En? Out for another night out? Why is he in such a hurry?

Lu Mingfei hesitated for a moment and did not follow.

Since he didn't ask for help, it means the situation is still under his control, so there's no need to interfere with his hobby—after all, St. Mary's Academy isn't Hogwarts, and there aren't any restrictions on nighttime outings.

……

On Sunday, Lu Mingfei woke up in the back seat of the car.

Although he had already left St. Mary's Academy, Lu Mingfei had already made arrangements for his 'card-making technique' study for the next week:

First comes the control of magic, second is the understanding of the corresponding magic array, and then there's the corresponding array diagram—this time it's not just a simple series of three magic arrays connected in parallel like last time; this time it's a full ten magic arrays operating simultaneously—

There are even logical judgments involving AND, OR, and NOT gates...

He had to maintain the delicate feel of the forging process while completing these things.

"Sigh, there's no other way, I'll just have to study." Lu Mingfei shook his head and got out of bed.

To make it easier for him to study his "interest classes," the red-robed acolyte took him out of his uncle's house and bought the apartment where he lived as a child, so the two of them could live together.

Of course, she didn't need to sleep, neither as a 'semi-modified' nor as a 'magical spirit'. So she simply turned her room into a computer room—she called it the Thinker Array—

When it was first set up, Lu Mingfei spent an entire evening at her place, but then he stopped going there.

First, the amount of calculations she had to perform was too great, and even with the fan whirring, it couldn't dissipate the heat.

Secondly, she wasn't using the Windows system that Lu Mingfei was used to, which was operated with a keyboard and mouse. Although the red-robed monk had specially downloaded one for him and provided him with a keyboard and mouse, Lu Mingfei ultimately decided not to bother her anymore.

Anyway, if you want to play games, you can go to an internet cafe. There, you can shout and curse at the same time. But at home? Forget about cursing out loud, even typing a single line of text would earn Lu Mingfei the stare of a red-robed monk...

Sometimes Lu Mingfei even had some doubts, wondering if the relationship between him and his magical spirit had become somewhat distorted.

At least a week or two ago, the red-robed acolyte would never have acted like a mother hen.

However, after careful consideration, Lu Mingfei chose the safest solution:

Just leave it alone!

How could my magical spirit harm me? How could a magical spirit that I created and summoned myself harm me?

Lu Mingfei lay comfortably on a chair in his room. The computer chair, with its plastic frame and foam padding, felt far inferior to the single sofa he had sat on just two days ago.

However, at least at this moment, Lu Mingfei felt that this was the best seat he had ever sat in.

For the first time, he felt so deeply that the road ahead was bright and that he had a brilliant future—just like those inspirational men on TV. Perhaps he could also become a highly skilled professional dressed in black, tossing his doctoral cap around, or perhaps he could become a CEO sitting in his boss's chair, raising a glass to the night view.

Or perhaps, even further—to truly become the king of the world?

After all, he is the only 'Summoner' on Earth who possesses the only extraordinary power to refine materials into magic cards. Looking around the world, can you find such a handsome and amazing young man as him?

I'm afraid there isn't one.

Lu Mingfei's body relaxed further, and the world before him gradually blurred, becoming a hazy play of light and shadow—yet the light and shadow were not static. Gray permeated, white descended, black rose, and crimson grew from beneath the black—

Those were images he had seen before.

That was the bottom of his college card.
