Film and Television: My Cheat Code is AI
Chapter 64 Mainframe
After the technical investigation team finished collecting information from the host computer, they delivered the computer case and motherboard to Group Six. The person who came was Lao Gao. He put the host computer on Zhang Yang's desk, patted the dust off the case, and said, "Zhang Yang, the host computer is on your desk."
Zhang Yang turned around from his seat, smiled, and nodded at him: "Brother Gao, thanks."
"fine."
After Lao Gao left, Zhang Yang turned the computer around, picked up a screwdriver, and started disassembling. He was very skilled at removing the side panel; his fingers found the clips inside the case, and he knew which way to pry it open without even looking. The hard drive was removed and held in his palm. He flipped it over to check the interface and the drive itself. There were no signs of physical damage to the drive surface; it had hit the case, but the hard drive itself was intact. He then disassembled his own computer, unplugged the original hard drive cable, connected Xiaoyue's hard drive, and turned it on. The screen lit up, the system booted up normally, and the hard drive spun smoothly and evenly.
Tian Rui and Ji Jie stood behind him watching. Tian Rui leaned closer to the screen and said, "Wow, Zhang Yang, I didn't know you had this trick up your sleeve."
Zhang Yang stared at the system interface on the screen and smiled: "This is nothing difficult, just changing a hard drive."
He rummaged through the local folders for a while and quickly found the chat history stored locally. It was the QQ chat history folder. When he clicked on it, he saw that Xiaoyue had been chatting with someone with the screen name "Flying Wolf" for several months.
They first met on a forum, then added each other on QQ and chatted more and more frequently. The chat history also included a photo sent by the other person: a young man, quite handsome, wearing thin-rimmed glasses, who looked like a college student.
Zhang Yang zoomed in on the photo and whistled, "Hey, this young man is quite handsome, he looks like a student."
Ji Jie saved the photos to a USB drive, unplugged it, and handed it to Tian Rui: "Tian Rui, take these photos and go check them."
"Yes."
Ji Jie then looked at Zhang Yang: "See if you can find the IP address of 'Flying Wolf'."
Zhang Yang switched out of the chat history and opened a command line window, rapidly typing a string of code on the keyboard. Lines of characters began scrolling across the screen as he typed, explaining, "This is a program I wrote that can automatically locate an IP address. As long as 'Flying Wolf' logs into his account, it can automatically pinpoint his location. Also, if the computer he's logged into is connected to a webcam, I can remotely access his webcam and see his live feed. That way, even if the photos he sends are fake, we can still see what he really looks like."
The program started running, and a small icon appeared in the lower right corner of the screen, like an eye, quietly waiting for its prey to come online.
Not long after, Tian Rui returned with the search results for the photo, clutching a printed information sheet in her hand: "Sister Ji, I found it."
"Let's go and meet this person."
The car pulled up in front of a school, where Chang Baole had already brought the boy out. The boy, wearing a school uniform jacket, was helped into the back seat by Chang Baole, his face filled with confusion and nervousness. As soon as he got in the car, he started wringing his hands, glancing at Tian Rui and then at Ji Jie, his lips moving several times before he finally managed to stammer, "I...what's wrong with me?"
Tian Rui took out Xiaoyue's photo and handed it to him: "Do you recognize this girl?"
The boy glanced down at the photo, shook his head, and said decisively, "I don't know him."
Tian Rui stared into his eyes and said, "What are you so nervous about? You don't know her, but she knows you."
The boy's voice began to tremble, and he rubbed his hands back and forth on his knees: "I... what's wrong with me? I really don't know her."
Ji Jie turned around from the front seat, her tone gentler than Tian Rui's: "Don't be afraid, we're just conducting some investigation. I'm asking you, have you sent your photos to anyone?"
The boy thought for a long time, then suddenly slapped his thigh: "No, I just participated in a selection event on a website and uploaded my photo. It's one of those talent shows. My classmate helped me register."
Tian Rui frowned: "Why are you posting photos if you have nothing better to do?"
The boy's voice trailed off, a little embarrassed: "It's fun... this way I can meet lots of girls."
Back at the office, Zhang Yang sat in front of the computer and continued to go through Xiao Yue's hard drive, while Tian Rui sorted through the chat history from beginning to end, copying it line by line into her notebook. The office was quiet, with only the sound of the keyboard and the occasional sound of Tian Rui turning pages.
More than an hour later, Tian Rui stood up and walked to Ji Jie's desk, holding a notebook full of writing: "Sister Ji, I checked Xiaoyue's chat history with 'The Flying Wolf.' They've been chatting for three months since they met. This 'Flying Wolf' is from the North and is 1.82 meters tall."
"Wait a minute." Ji Jie raised her hand to interrupt her, "Is this 1.82 meters tall real?"
Tian Rui flipped through the excerpts of the chat history and found the source of that sentence: "Xiao Yue took the initiative to ask him, and then 'The Flying Wolf' told her."
Zhang Yang peeked out from behind the computer and continued, "People don't lie about such details. Even if he concealed his appearance, he would subconsciously answer with the truth about his height and weight. Making up a height would be too easy to be found out. He would be exposed the moment they met. It's not worth it."
Ji Jie smiled and leaned back in her chair: "Indeed, it seems that a lot of things on the internet are fake, but they will always leave some clues."
Tian Rui continued reading from her notes: "'The Flying Wolf' likes to play basketball, likes to travel, loves to wander alone, likes to eat chocolate, and likes to do exciting things."
Ji Jie rolled her eyes and said nothing, but her expression made her meaning very clear.
As Zhang Yang was leaving get off work, he stuck a sticky note on his computer screen that read, "Program running, please do not shut down," with an exclamation mark. Tian Rui, having finished packing up, passed by his workstation, glanced at the note, and laughed, saying, "Are you afraid someone will shut you down?"
Zhang Yang turned off the monitor but left the computer running. He straightened up and said, "Isn't what you're saying obvious? This program can automatically sound an alarm and automatically hack into 'The Flying Wolf's' camera. As long as he's online, the script I wrote will be triggered, and then we'll be able to see the true face of this 'Flying Wolf'."
Chang Baole and Tian Rui remained seated at their workstations, each logged onto a computer and logged into several chat rooms. Zhang Yang picked up his coat, preparing to return to his dorm, but stopped as he passed their workstations: "Aren't you two going home after get off work?"
Chang Baole leaned back in his chair and gestured with his chin toward Tian Rui: "I'm here with Tian Rui."
Zhang Yang draped his coat over his shoulder and nodded. "You two get back to work. I'm going back to my dorm. Remember to call me if my computer starts playing music." He pointed to his still-running computer, the eye icon on the screen flashing.
After Zhang Yang left, only Chang Baole and Tian Rui remained in the office. The fluorescent lights hummed, and Tian Rui had several chat room windows open on her screen. She scrolled through them one by one, her eyes almost touching the screen. Chang Baole watched her workaholic posture and said with a smile, "I'm better off, at least I can keep you company while you work overtime."
Tian Rui didn't even turn her head, her tone casual and frank: "Thank you."
Chang Baole slid his chair closer and looked at the list of chat rooms on her screen: "I see you've entered no less than twenty chat rooms last night. You've been having a good time chatting under the guise of investigating a case, haven't you?"
Before she could finish speaking, Tian Rui suddenly sat up straight, her eyes fixed on a newly lit avatar on the screen: "'The Flying Wolf' is online."
In the corridor, Zhang Yang had just reached the stairwell when he heard a burst of urgent music coming from his office. He turned and ran, his coat slipping off his shoulder and almost falling to the ground. He rushed back to his office, pushed back his chair, and sat down, his fingers already on the keyboard: "Continue talking to him!"
Chang Baole was pulled up from his chair and moved aside by Tian Rui, who then started calling Ji Jie to report the situation. Chang Baole, sitting in front of the computer, rubbed his hands together and said, "What am I supposed to talk to him about?"
Zhang Yang stared at the lines of code popping up on the screen, and said without turning his head, "Let's talk about something a little risqué. Ask him why you haven't met, and say you miss him so much you can't sleep. Give me a minute."
Chang Baole leaned closer to Tian Rui's screen, typed a line of text in the chat box, and sent it. Zhang Yang's code ran incredibly fast, the progress bar jumping from 30% to 70% and then to 95%. In less than a minute, a new window popped up on Zhang Yang's screen, showing the camera's image. The resolution wasn't high, but it was enough to clearly see the person in front of the lens.
Tian Rui had already reported the situation to Ji Jie. Now, after hanging up the phone, she came over to take a look. The picture showed a girl with bright green hair, sitting in front of the computer with a lollipop in her mouth. She looked to be under twenty years old.
Tian Rui was stunned, pointing at the screen and saying, "This 'flying wolf' is a woman?"
Zhang Yang shook his head, saved a screenshot, and then pulled up the location tracking results: "It shouldn't be. Look, I found the IP address. It's in this city. Here's the detailed address. Go check it out."
Tian Rui picked up her phone and dialed Ji Jie's number, saying as she walked out, "Sister Ji will be here soon, let's go see her."
After Tian Rui and Ji Jie left, Chang Baole sat back down in front of the computer, glanced at the chat window, and suddenly cursed, "Hey, this 'Flying Wolf' is cursing me."
Zhang Yang leaned over to take a look. A string of profanities appeared on the other end, essentially accusing the other person of stealing her boyfriend. Zhang Yang laughed and said, "This girl is probably a netizen named 'Flying Wolf.' She hacked his account to see how many girlfriends her boyfriend actually has."
Chang Baole gritted his teeth and squeezed out three words: "That bastard."
An hour later, Ji Jie and Tian Rui brought back a girl with green hair. When the girl was brought into the interrogation room, her eyes were still red. She sat on the iron chair and wiped away tears every now and then. Her green hair was particularly eye-catching under the fluorescent lights.
Ji Jie sat opposite her, waited a while, and then asked, "Okay, have you cried enough?"
The girl sobbed, "I...what happened to me?"
Tian Rui sat next to her, her tone a bit harsher than Ji Jie's: "I called you here for a reason, you know that yourself."
The girl shook her head frantically, her green hair swaying back and forth: "I don't know, I didn't do anything."
Ji Jie put her pen on the table, looked at her, and asked, "What's your online username?"
The girl cried and said, "Sad fish."
Tian Rui leaned forward: "Aren't you 'the flying wolf'?"
The girl's voice suddenly rose a few decibels, as if she had been wrongly accused of something terrible: "That's not my online name!"
"Whose is that? Only you use that machine."
The girl started crying again, wiping away her tears as she explained, "That's my online friend's account. I met 'Flying Wolf' online, but he hasn't been talking to me for the past few days. I couldn't find him, so I asked my friend to hack his account."
"My friend said that no one was using that computer, so I logged in with his account to take a look..." She looked up at Ji Jie with teary eyes, "It's pretty easy to crack other people's passwords these days, most people can do it."
After the interrogation ended, Ji Jie closed the transcript and said to Tian Rui, "After you've found out the truth, send the person back."
"it is good."
