Chapter 9 Thunder God Helps Me!
"Nuclear bomb!"
"Wait f*** you!"
"Who elected that idiot as president! There are at least 100,000 people here!"
"No! That's not the problem! Damn it! We're going to die!"
Even Horton stopped his RV, and despite knowing the chances were slim, he still turned around to look:
"Kurt! Tell us! How much time do we have? Is there any hope of escaping the blast and radiation before that thing hits the ground?"
Seeing the four people looking at him, Kurt instinctively replied:
"About five or six minutes?"
"Great! Let's hurry and find a nuclear shelter..."
"Horton, forget about it." Marty lit his pipe again. "The nearest nuclear protection facility takes at least ten minutes to turn on, and it's been abandoned for a long time. It can only protect against radiation, not explosions. We've sneaked in there before."
This bucket of cold water was poured over the car, and it fell completely silent.
Kurt looked down at the hammer in his hand.
Why do I feel increasingly powerless every time something happens? Am I just too weak?
Inside the campervan, Marty, Horton, Jules, and Dinah's faces were filled with only blankness and despair.
Everyone knows what this means.
"Beep! Beep! Beep!"
A series of piercing horns suddenly came from behind the car, breaking the silence between the five people.
"Fuck!"
Kurt gritted his teeth, walked to the rear window, banged on the glass, and gestured for the other person to get out.
"What are you going to do?!" Horton looked dejected, having already resigned himself to his fate.
"We're all going to die! And you're still going to cause trouble?" Diana said incredulously.
"Since we're all going to die anyway, let's teach these people who are going to die one last lesson!"
After he finished speaking, he picked up the hammer, ignored the other four people's attempts to stop him, pushed open the car door, and walked towards the back of the car.
The car that honked behind them was carrying a muscular black man with half-sleeve tattoos and a scar near his eye, all of which suggested he was not someone to mess with.
"Hey kid, you think you can scare me with a hammer?"
The other person clenched both hands into fists, cracking their knuckles, and struck a fierce pose.
Kurt couldn't help but sneer.
"Shit!" The black man's forehead veins bulged and his arm muscles bulged as he slammed a fist down hard.
Kurt neither dodged nor flinched, but instead swung his hammer, unleashing a bolt of electricity that froze his opponent in place, causing his body to convulse before he collapsed stiffly to the ground.
The fleeing passersby only glanced at it briefly; they had no idea what they were about to face.
Seeing this group of people still struggling in ignorance, Kurt couldn't help but speak up:
"You know what?"
"You are all going to die! Everyone!"
These words immediately caused an uproar among those around them.
"Hey! What nonsense are you spouting, kid?!"
"Kid, what are you being so arrogant about!"
"Hey! Believe it or not, I'll shove a gun down your throat, you idiot!"
Kurt remained unmoved, raised his hammer, and pointed it to the sky: "Just now, a nuclear missile was launched, heading straight for that big guy in the city!"
After a brief silence, bursts of laughter erupted.
"A nuclear bomb? Hey! Dude, are you an idiot for being president? Dropping a nuclear bomb on your own city?"
"Oh! A nuclear bomb! Mommy! I'm so scared! Hahaha..."
"Little boy, do you think nuclear bombs are toys? You can't just throw them around like that!"
"They'd be crazy to do that. Besides, the military is still battling that monster in the city center. We're sure to win! Long live America!"
Kurt didn't care about this at all, nor did he intend to persuade these dying people, since he himself couldn't escape it anyway.
A few seconds later, all the laughter was drowned out by another voice.
"Beep...woo!"
Air raid sirens sounded throughout the city.
The smiles on the faces of the crowd who had just been laughing at Kurt froze.
Some people collapsed to the ground, while others screamed and rushed towards vehicles and buildings, trying to escape the disaster.
Only Kurt stood still, silently gripping the hammer against his forehead, closing his eyes and offering his final prayer.
Is it addressed to God?
Or should he turn to that... being who seemingly bestowed upon him a divine artifact?
No matter who it is.
If you really exist...
The whooshing sound from the sky made Kurt open his eyes and sigh.
That's too late!
The people around them also looked up, their faces filled with terror and despair, reflecting the dazzling white flame that shone like the sun.
Just as the nuclear bomb was heading straight for the city center, an accident suddenly occurred!
"What is that?!"
"Oh My God!"
"Is that... a hand?"
Those present gasped in surprise.
A giant hand, blocking out the sunlight, stretched out from the sky, pinched the nuclear bomb with just two fingers, and then vanished into thin air.
Some who witnessed this scene were stunned, kneeling and praying, while others wept and screamed wildly...
Until a luminous object fell from the sky, scaring the survivors out of their wits again, who thought it was the nuclear bomb falling down again.
Only Kurt, gazing at the scene before him, recalled the sight he had discovered at the bottom of the lake that day.
He immediately realized that he had not guessed wrong!
Kurt ran forward and, in full view of everyone, reached out and touched it. The luminous object, as tall as an adult, transformed into a chisel in his palm.
"This is……"
Kurt gripped the chisel tightly, a look of realization dawning on his face.
"No wonder this hammer always felt like it was missing something; it was missing a matching part?"
"Kurt!"
Jules, her eyes red, lunged at her.
"Baby, don't worry."
The other three also got out of the car and looked at Kurt.
But before they could even feel relieved, the ground tremors drew everyone's attention away from them.
The colossal machine suddenly began to move towards the interstate highway. The troops that were supposed to remain in the city center to contain it were now completely silent, without even a single shot fired; they were probably long gone.
"Let's go! Get in the car quickly!"
The five men ignored everyone else and quickly climbed into the campervan, with Holden flooring the accelerator.
Even though the RV was going at top speed, the vibrations and loud noises behind us were getting closer and closer.
Kurt looked at the hammer and chisel in his hands and took a deep breath.
He looked up at the sunroof of the car.
"boom!"
A loud explosion was heard, and Dinah and Jules rushed to the rear window, shouting in surprise:
"It's the military's armored forces!"
"Have they not evacuated yet?"
"It must be that news has spread that the nuclear missile was intercepted by that being."
As the people in the car were talking, Kurt looked at the sunroof again and handed the hammer and chisel to Marty.
"Why are you giving this to me? What do you want to do with it?"
You'll find out soon enough.
Kurt opened the sunroof and took the hammer and chisel from Marty.
Aren't you going to climb up?
"Climb up? No way! Buddy, I'll fly!"
With Marty looking completely bewildered, Kurt raised the chisel in his hand.
The next second, he flew away through the sunroof.
"Wait f*** you!"
Hearing the exclamations behind him, Kurt's face was filled with excitement.
He hadn't expected that this time would be different from the last time he got the hammer. The moment he touched the chisel, the names of these two "magical tools," and their true uses, all flashed through his mind...
While the military's artillery shells and missiles were still drawing the evil god's attention, Kurt used his chisel to fly around behind him and quietly approach.
His gaze was fixed firmly on... the horns of the evil god!
After flying over the horn, Kurt pointed the chisel downwards, raised the hammer high, and took a deep breath.
With that awkward and difficult pronunciation, he roared out that ancient and majestic name of the god.
"Thunder God...help me!"
The hammer and chisel struck, unleashing a blinding white light that shattered the windows of all nearby buildings and vehicles.
"what!"
The evil god let out a fierce roar, and the horn that Kurt struck twisted and warped on the spot, with lava-like blood gushing out from the crack.
The massive body collapsed without warning, shaking half the city and sending car alarms blaring all around.
