What kind of divination am I doing?
Chapter 28: Sword and Magic
"Yes, I went back to the castle last night, and she was there. She said she was homeless, and since it was all my fault, she's blaming us!" the black cat explained.
"What? If she's going to deny it, then let her deny it! Why don't you go to the Outer Territory Tavern and call people to arrest her? Once you catch her, the gold will come back, right?" Lu Qiao realized.
The black cat ate shrimp dumplings, smacking its lips and sobbing, "She said if I exposed that she was here, since she had nothing left and was going to die anyway, she would expose the fact that Lord Aini was just a black cat living in the castle right across from Boston's Chinatown, and let all the alien races know it."
"Her threats work on you? What if I threaten you?" Lu Qiao looked at the black cat.
The black cat hissed: "You dare?"
"No, you're treating people differently! The main point is, you're just giving in like this? Then make her pay with gold!" Lu Qiao shouted.
"That's what I said, and she said yes, she could pay it off! She said she'd only be able to stay on Earth from now on, and she needed to find a way to make some money for herself. She said she'd work as a receptionist here, she'd be in charge of attracting business, and the profits would be split 50/50, half to pay off the debts and half for her to live on."
"Huh? You've agreed to this?" Lu Qiao asked back.
Black Cat explained, "They definitely bargained and agreed on a price. She'll be the receptionist, you'll be the store manager, and I'll be the chairman."
Lu Qiao found it increasingly absurd: "Are you being played by her? She's playing you! This is just a small shop, how can she be a shop manager or chairman? Who's in charge of whom? Aren't these just empty titles? You're just enjoying it?"
"Who cares if it's true or not, I'll make 60% of the money, she'll make 30%, and you'll make 10%," the black cat explained.
"Uh... she can make money? Wow, that's impressive! You agree to this just because I say so!" Lu Qiao finally understood.
The black cat smacked its lips: "What's there to disagree with? What else can we do?"
Lu Qiao shouted angrily, "You fool! Where did your shrewdness go when you were bullying me?"
"I heard what you said!" Monica stood at the entrance of the castle shop.
At this point, a large group of foreigners were driven out of the castle, and each foreigner handed the bill to Monica as they left.
Monica took the bills one by one, put them to her lips, covered them with her lipstick, and handed them back.
The foreigner took the bill, staring intently at the lip prints on it, looking as if he were in heat.
After Monica stamped everyone's passports, she waved goodbye and watched the foreigners leave.
The foreigners kept turning back to look at each other, all of them seeming reluctant to leave.
This scene left Lu Qiao utterly bewildered.
These men are like that, and so is the black cat.
Lu Qiao stared at the black cat in disbelief. This black cat had been so ruthless and cunning towards him before!
How come when it comes to Monica, she's as stupid as a pig?
Lu Qiao realized what was happening: a charm spell!
That's it! This is the only explanation!
"You little tomcat, you also crave women's bodies?" Lu Qiao quipped.
"I'm a mother cat!" the black cat retorted.
"Huh? Lala?" Lu Qiao realized.
The black cat growled angrily, "You're the lesbian! What are you thinking?!"
"No, how do you explain this? I don't understand!" Lu Qiao said helplessly.
At this moment, Monica placed a bag in front of Lu Qiao: "I heard your conversation. Aren't you short of $327,000 in inheritance tax? A kilogram of gold here is worth about $300,000. Today's turnover is $20,000. Putting it all together will be enough. I'll go and sell it this afternoon and give you the money."
Lu Qiao looked at the bag in front of him and remembered that it was the bag of one kilogram of gold that the demi-human had!
Lu Qiao fumbled for his phone and turned it on: "Do you have a phone? Just give her this account."
Monica glanced at the payment number and name and said, "Yes, but I don't need it. Remember it, it will arrive this afternoon."
"That's impressive! Then I'll trouble you... wait, what did you say?" Lu Qiao realized.
"What do you mean? What did I say?" Monica asked, puzzled.
Lu Qiao pointed incredulously at the castle: "You said you sold twenty thousand dollars worth of goods this morning?"
Yiwu small commodities costing three, five, and seven dollars each sold for twenty thousand dollars?
"Really? What's wrong?" Monica looked at Lu Qiao with an innocent expression.
"No, what kind of guests are these?! Right, it must be a charm spell. Did you use magic to steal these old folks' retirement money?" Lu Qiao realized.
Monica showed off her phone's interface and said casually, "There's no magic. I just opened an app called Onlyfans on my phone, casually promoted this place, and that's how many we sold."
Lu Qiao looked at the strange software and saw 1M of followers, which is more than a million followers.
The interface also features rather revealing photos of Monica, clearly indicating that this is a female-owned account.
"No, you have a million followers on your social media accounts? Huh? You got a million followers in one night!" Lu Qiao realized.
Monica laughed: "Actually, I used to come to Earth often to play, and I've accumulated this over the years. Now that I'm stuck on Earth, I might as well use it."
"You mean, you made 20,000 in sales this morning by selling freebies to your millions of followers? Wait, that's not the point! How did you sell something that costs a few dollars for 20,000? What else did you do?" Lu Qiao realized.
"Just selling things! How many dollars? Oh, I remember, I changed the price!" Monica realized.
"Should we change the price?" Lu Qiao murmured.
Luqiao knew that this kind of conversation wouldn't lead to a clear discussion.
Luqiao entered the castle, wanting to see what was going on.
In Luqiao's memory, the most expensive Yiwu small commodities in the entire castle were only fifteen US dollars.
To sell 20,000 units, you need to sell over a thousand.
What does "thousands" mean? The line would stretch from here all the way into Chinatown in a single morning!
Although there were some customers in the morning, there were only about a dozen.
Who would believe you can just rely on selling things?
He glanced at the shelf and his mouth dropped open.
Tarot cards that used to sell for seven dollars now sell for seven hundred dollars.
The crystal ball, priced at fifteen dollars, clearly displayed a value of fifteen hundred dollars.
"Wow, that's amazing!" Lu Qiao blurted out instinctively.
What defines a top-tier money-grubber!
I only added a zero after the 20 for divination and I thought I was a swindler, but this guy dares to add two zeros after ordinary goods!
The two crooked, handwritten zeros are even worse than the ones I made myself!
The key point is that I haven't even sold my first fortune telling account yet, and this guy made $20,000 in one morning!
"Brilliant!" Lu Qiao clapped his hands instinctively.
As Lu Qiao emerged from inside the castle, he gave a thumbs-up: "If you don't take the front desk job, who will!"
"Thank you, store manager!" Monica smiled and nodded in response.
Upon exiting the bridge, I saw Monica and the black cat eating their breakfast.
Monica showed off the preserved egg and lean pork congee that Luqiao brought her, tucked her hair behind her ears, and ate it spoonful by spoonful.
The black cat, meanwhile, enjoyed all kinds of breakfast, wanting to try them all, and even looked up and licked a mouthful from Monica's congee with preserved egg and lean pork.
"Leave some for me, I haven't eaten yet!" Lu Qiao called out helplessly.
Lu Qiao waved his hand and brought over a small stool, sat down in front of the black cat, and stuffed shrimp dumplings into his mouth with his hands.
The black cat growled possessively, "You eat chicken feet! Don't steal my shrimp dumplings!"
Lu Qiao had no choice but to try to catch the chicken feet again, following the black cat's advice.
The black cat then realized that chicken feet were also delicious, and continued whimpering, "You've already eaten shrimp dumplings, so don't eat my chicken feet!"
"Oh dear! What can I eat then?!" Lu Qiao asked impatiently.
"One shrimp dumpling is enough for you. If you're still hungry, here you go!" The black cat pointed a paw into a corner inside the castle.
Lu Qiao glanced at the corner and saw a brightly colored bag of cat food. He realized what it meant and exclaimed, "What the hell?!"
Monica pushed the congee with preserved egg and lean pork towards Lu Qiao, grabbed a spoon, scooped out a spoonful, and handed it to him: "Here, manager! Have some!"
"What the hell! It's your porridge! I don't want anything a cat has licked!" Lu Qiao retorted, having just seen the black cat lick the century egg and lean pork porridge.
The black cat excitedly stuck out its tongue, covered in barbs: "You said it!"
Lu Qiao reacted instantly and covered the black cat's mouth, but the next second, the black cat bit him.
Lu Qiao looked at the teeth marks on his palm; there was no bleeding.
In that short time, the black cat whimpered ominously, "They're all mine now, I've licked them all!"
Lu Qiao pondered, should he be more shameless than himself?
Luqiao reached out and peeled open the shrimp dumpling skin, grabbed the shrimp meat, and stuffed it into his mouth.
"You dog!" The black cat leaped up and bit Lu Qiao's arm again.
Helpless, Lu Qiao watched the cat and the person eat the breakfast he had brought.
The black cat had eaten until its belly was round, and now it was licking its paws while its belly was turned upside down.
"You're a cat, eating like this will shorten your lifespan!" Lu Qiao complained.
The black cat frowned: "A curse to my death?"
Looking at the situation before him, Lu Qiao said, "What nonsense! I just said some harsh words. If you don't like my harsh words, fine, but isn't everything alright now? The debt is paid off, you take her in as a servant, she'll take care of you in your old age, and you let me go back to China—it's perfect!"
"You wish! You can't escape! You've learned all my tricks. Either you die, or you kill a god!" the black cat hissed.
Monica stood up and grabbed a bag of gold: "I'll leave the shop to the manager this afternoon. I'll go exchange it for cash and transfer it to the account."
Lu Qiao nodded, watching Monica put on her hood, take the gold and the leftover breakfast trash, and leave the yard.
Lu Qiao watched Monica disappear from sight and asked the black cat, "Honestly, what do you think about this?"
"You make more money than your aunt!" the black cat retorted.
"That's not what I meant! I meant if we really let her stay, where would she sleep?" Lu Qiao asked.
The black cat pondered, "She slept in your bed last night, so she probably will today too."
"And what about me? Where am I supposed to sleep?" Lu Qiao asked back.
The black cat licked its paws and pointed to the cellar behind it: "I don't care where you sleep! If you're not going to the Outer Realms, the cellar has a small room you can sleep in!"
"Then why can't she sleep in the cellar? It has to be me!" Lu Qiao said, pointing to the cellar.
Just then, the cellar door opened.
A little girl wearing a blue and white magical dress came out.
The little girl has blonde hair and blue eyes, and is holding a huge ancient book in her hands.
The rhinestones and gems on the clothes shimmered in the sunlight.
With just one glance, Lu Qiao determined that the other party was a foreign race from an outer realm tavern, and not just any foreign race, but an adventurer!
"See? Someone's already taken on a mission to take down Monica so quickly. She can't hide for long!" Lu Qiao complained.
"Nobody in the Outer Domain Tavern knows about Monica's affairs on Earth, so it's definitely not looking for her!" The black cat rolled its eyes at Lu Qiao and basked in the sun on its back.
The little girl walked over quickly, looked Lu Qiao and the black cat up and down, cleared her throat and spoke in a foreign language.
"Were you just talking to a cat? So you're from Outland too?"
Luqiao had been enlightened by the black cat and understood, so he nodded and subconsciously said, "Yes."
Upon hearing Lu Qiao speak Chinese, the little girl excitedly exclaimed, "You speak Chinese! Hello, my name is Charlotte Oran!"
"Hmm, you speak Chinese!" Lu Qiao exclaimed, barely suppressing his urge to make a joke, almost blurting out: So your name is Charlotte!
"Yes! I love Chinese culture!" Charlotte replied with a sweet smile.
Seeing this, Lu Qiao asked, "Then, esteemed adventurer, may I ask what your purpose is in coming here?"
"I'm looking for Lady Enni!" Charlotte replied.
Lu Qiao still had a smile on his face: "Oh, I'm just... wait, I was just curious, what do you want with Lady Aini?"
I almost blurted out "road and bridge," but then I thought I should ask what happened first, to avoid a potential accident.
"I challenge Lord Enni to a duel!" shouted the little girl Charlotte.
The little girl Charlotte's loud voice and determination sent a jolt through Lu Qiao's heart.
Lu Qiao pointed at the black cat: "Oh, it's Aini!"
Lu Qiao glanced out of the corner of his eye and saw that the black cat had already pointed at him with its paw outstretched.
Lu Qiao chuckled wryly, "Wow, you reacted so quickly when you were trying to trick me!"
Charlotte looked at the bridge: "Lord Aini?"
"I didn't, I didn't, don't talk nonsense!" Lu Qiao retorted.
Charlotte opened the ancient book in her hand: "It's alright, I got a portrait before I came, I'll know if it's me at a glance!"
A parchment scroll was tucked inside the title page of the ancient book.
Charlotte picked it up, held it up to the bridge's face, compared it repeatedly, and confirmed before saying, "You really are Lady Aini!"
Lu Qiao was stunned. Good heavens, he thought the bounty was on Monica, but it turns out it's on him.
He's already drawn his own self-portrait; there's no way he can hide from it now, and what he's called doesn't matter anymore.
"Hey!" Lu Qiao leaned over, wanting to see his self-portrait.
I'm curious how well these Outland taverns, which now have their own portraits, actually do.
First, they were curious about how the painting skills of the alien races compared to those on Earth; second, they were curious about what they looked like in the eyes of the outsiders.
It would have been better if he hadn't looked. After seeing it, Lu Qiao frowned: "No, no, no, is this me?"
Charlotte held up the portrait to Lu Qiao's face: "Yes! That's you!"
"No, who drew this? I..." Lu Qiao was getting angry and speechless.
"It was you, the tall, one-eyed guy who drew it. You were such a nice person, a big guy, but with a very good temper!" Charlotte recalled.
The black cat got up, curious about what the drawing had been, and meowed, "It's just a duel, not an assassination. It's just a drawing, why are you arguing about it?"
