Mobile City Travel Guide

Chapter 62 The Dragon's Territory

For the next few hours, the journey was smooth and unimpeded. Once the work was completed, the vehicles returned to the city one after another via the lift platform.

During his break, Li Xin also reviewed the newly updated tasks.

[Current Task:]

[1. "Get Some Souvenirs": Obtain three different types of enchanted items in the current world. Reward: 1000 Evolution Points]

[2. "Archaeologist": Successfully found an ancient creature. Reward: 1500 Evolution Points]

[3. Mithril Frenzy: Collect 2000 units of mithril. Reward: 2000 Evolution Points]

[4. "Otherworldly Lawn Mower": Kill 3000 native creatures. Reward: 3000 Evolution Points]

As before, each mission has its own level of difficulty and challenge. However, the fourth one is actually the easiest. With the Starfire's current firepower, it's practically a lawnmower in this world.

As the Xinghuo spacecraft advanced, many farmlands began to appear along its route, and farmers could even be seen working in the fields.

Even towns and villages began to appear more frequently, with wisps of smoke rising from chimneys, the sounds of chickens and dogs mingling, and villagers busy with their own tasks, creating a lively scene.

But the team protecting the case became extremely tense, each member gripping their weapons warily and constantly scanning the distance with their eyes.

"What's wrong? Is it dangerous here?" Li Xin asked, puzzled.

The dwarf Torg raised a thick finger and made a "shh" gesture at him, his expression tense as if he were walking on thin ice.

"Hurry up and pass by, don't disturb the owner of this land!"

Skulls, a notorious dragon in the magical world. It dwells in the Riverlands in the eastern part of the continent, the region where the Starfire is currently located.

This dragon not only possesses immense strength capable of tearing mountains apart, but is also renowned for its cunning and treachery. The outside world is currently in chaos, but neither alien races nor orcs dare to trespass into its territory.

A few drops of sweat trickled down Li Xin's forehead. He naturally didn't want to fight a dragon—and he didn't know if the Starfire's current firepower was enough to defeat it.

"Then let's hurry..." His voice unconsciously lowered considerably. "By the way, why are the villages and towns along the way so peaceful?"

"Because Skull lets the people in his territory live their lives as usual, and he himself doesn't steal, rob, or kill, he just makes people pay a 10% tax regularly," Peter explained. "So many people actually go to the Riverlands, you know, it's much more peaceful here than outside."

Li Xin was taken aback.

"Does this dragon even understand economics?"

Before long, he saw the place where Skul lived.

It was a magnificent and imposing castle, with its gray-white stone walls soaring into the clouds and its towering spires piercing the sky. The castle gate was half-open, and through the crack, one could vaguely see mountains of coins and various valuable paintings and calligraphy inside.

If you look closely into the depths, you will find a huge outline half-buried and half-hidden within it—that is clearly the sleeping dragon.

"So these dragons are just like in the legends, loving to live in castles and collect gold and silver treasures," he remarked. "By the way, do they also try to kidnap princesses?"

"No, they don't have that strange hobby," Elarian replied. "However, many dragons like to demonstrate their existence by doing evil deeds, among which kidnapping princesses is quite famous."

Li Xin nodded, about to ask another question, but then he was stunned after glancing at something.

Beside the castle, there was also a mobile human city.

However, all the cannons, heavy machine guns, and engineering equipment on its deck were completely dismantled and tied to the side of the castle with a huge chain.

The people on deck, dressed in slave-like rags, were cleaning with trepidation.

As for the most conspicuous location in the city, a paw print is clearly visible.

Li Xin fell silent.

He probably guessed the other's situation. After the New World began, it unfortunately crossed into the territory of this evil dragon and was kidnapped by the dragon as a toy and brought to the edge of this castle.

Upon closer inspection, his lips twitched involuntarily.

This is actually the Iron Mole Rat that I encountered in the Sky World before. It has been dismantled so much that I can't recognize it anymore.

Its leader, Zhang Yue, was mopping the floor with a bitter face when he inadvertently saw Li Xin and was immediately stunned.

For a moment, the two of them stared at each other, wide-eyed.

"How did we end up here at this time?" Li Xin was both amused and exasperated.

Listening to the deep snoring coming from inside the castle, he quickly came up with an idea.

While the dragon is still asleep, let the Starfire stealthily approach the castle and use engineering equipment to gently break the chains, thus freeing it.

Without further ado, the Spark slowly and quietly approached the Iron Mole. Li Xin gestured for silence to Zhang Yue and his men on deck, then ordered the mechanical arm to be activated to begin breaking the chains bit by bit.

The whole process went surprisingly smoothly. However, at the very moment the chain broke, the crane failed to hold it steady, and the chain slipped and crashed to the ground with a loud "smack".

The snoring in the castle suddenly stopped.

Li Xin's breath hitched for a moment, and he immediately waved his hand.

"Run!"

The two mobile cities started up simultaneously, going full speed ahead and rushing outwards with all their might.

Behind them, a figure crashed open the castle gate and soared into the sky!

When Li Xin subconsciously turned around, he saw the dragon's appearance clearly for the first time.

Its body was enormous; when its wings were spread, they could blot out the sky. Its dark red scales gleamed like lava in the sunlight. Its face was rugged and imposing, exuding an aura of authority.

"boom!"

The dragon swooped down directly ahead, its massive body crashing to the ground, sending debris flying and dust billowing everywhere. It blocked the path of the two mobile cities squarely in the middle, its wings slowly folding shut like a giant, closed door.

It narrowed its eyes slightly, and instead of being angry, it smiled, revealing a row of sharp, massive teeth.

"Oh, I thought it was someone else, but it turns out to be a fellow who has come to bravely rescue his own people," it said slowly.

Li Xin turned to look at the protective box team.

"This dragon is so smart, it can even talk?" he wondered.

"So what? Dragons are highly intelligent creatures," the dwarf Torg said, shrugging. "Some dragons can even compose poetry!"

At first, Li Xin tried to negotiate with the other party. He cleared his throat, trying to appear calm, and made a suggestion to the evil dragon blocking his way.

Let them move their two mobile cities; we can discuss the terms.

Skul tilted his head, as if listening intently.

Just when Li Xin thought the deal was about to be finalized, it suddenly smiled.

"What bargaining chips do you think you have?" it said. "And I saw your little tricks, subtly signaling them to prepare to fire... You really think those little gadgets on your deck can hurt me?"

Li Xin was taken aback, and a sly smile appeared on his lips.

"That's not necessarily true... Open fire!"

The next second, all the Tiger Crouching Cannons on the Starfire opened fire simultaneously.

A massive shockwave exploded out and slammed into it.

In a state of utter astonishment, before the dragon could even grip the ground, its entire body was thrown backward, and it fell face-first into the mud in a very disheveled manner.

The two mobile cities seized the opportunity to restart and sped off, with the furious roar of the dragon echoing behind them.
