Mobile City Travel Guide
Chapter 19 Survival of the Fittest
On the other side of the world, in a town of giants.
On the street, several giants who looked like residents were running away in a sorry state. They were panting heavily, but dared not stop, as if something terrifying was following them.
One of the giants was running and talking, his face showing a look of utter disbelief.
Soon, the thing chasing them appeared.
It was a mobile city built by humans.
It is an order of magnitude larger than the Spark, resembling a giant mountain, and is entirely silver-white with a futuristic design.
In the most prominent position on its front is a logo that is completely different from that of the Ark Organization.
Along both sides of the moving city, several convoys followed closely. The convoys consisted entirely of infantry fighting vehicles, armed with heavy machine guns, light cannons, and miniature missiles. Above the city, rows of armed helicopters swept across the sky, their cannons and missile racks casting long, thin shadows in the setting sun.
With a roar, the mobile city suddenly accelerated, and the accompanying combat vehicles quickly scattered, forming a tightening encirclement from both sides.
Seeing that the other side was closing in, the giants could no longer tolerate it and turned around to charge towards the mobile city.
The infantry fighting vehicles and armed helicopters unleashed their full firepower instantly, the dense barrage precisely striking their joints, forcing them to stagger and fall to the ground.
At the same time, multiple giant cannons on the deck of the mobile city opened fire in succession, and huge nets exploded in mid-air, accurately binding each giant.
Then, it slowly approached and activated the robotic arm on the deck, which had already been fitted with giant anesthetic needles.
The whole process was orderly, skillful, and practiced.
As the medicine in the syringe was gradually injected, the giants' eyes began to glaze over, their tense muscles relaxed, their struggling arms fell limply to the ropes, and finally only their eyelids remained, trembling heavily.
As the mobile city came to a stop and the elevator platform was lowered, a group of researchers filed out.
Wearing fully enclosed research suits and carrying various research equipment, they quickly dispersed to the various giants and began collecting samples such as hair, blood, and saliva.
The leader was a middle-aged man who looked like a manager.
He looked at one of the giants, watching the data flashing on the tablet in his hand.
"Well, the target age is around 45-50 years old, with a long history of smoking and drinking, terrible liver function indicators, low bone density, severe muscle fiber aging, and a weak immune system."
As he spoke, he shook his head and waved his hand behind him.
"This gene is no good, get rid of it."
With a wave of his hand, a nearby researcher shrugged, opened his briefcase, and skillfully inserted a large syringe into a vein on the back of the giant's hand. The giant's body tensed up for a moment, then went completely limp.
The camera pans away from the mobile city, and the entire town gradually comes into view.
Streets, squares, alleyways... everywhere there were fallen giants.
Occasionally, a few figures would flee in disarray, but they would soon be shot down by patrolling infantry fighting vehicles or armed helicopters.
The researchers were busy with their work with practiced ease, occasionally whispering to each other.
"It's a pity we can only stay for two weeks this time," someone said with a hint of regret.
The supervisor shrugged after hearing this.
"So we need to get to work quickly."
Looking around at the giants, he put his hands on his hips and his brows gradually relaxed.
"Great! This time our gene bank has gained another excellent gene source."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a sudden change occurred.
The sky overhead suddenly darkened, and a torrential downpour of gravel rained down. Caught off guard, the researchers were instantly blasted to pieces.
One after another, infantry fighting vehicles were blasted and twisted, and armed helicopters crashed out of control one after another. The mobile city was riddled with dents and creases, and many of the engineering equipment and weapons on the deck were also destroyed.
In the nearby streets and alleys, more than a dozen giants appeared and charged forward with a roar.
They are the residents, or rather, the survivors, of this town.
An hour ago, it was a peaceful evening. Some of them had just finished get off work and were going home, some were strolling and chatting on the street, and some were preparing dinner at home.
Then, this strange vehicle suddenly appeared.
It strolled leisurely through the streets, knocking out, anesthetizing, or casually disposing of their relatives, friends, and neighbors one by one, as if it were indifferently selecting merchandise.
After quietly regrouping, the giants devised a counterattack strategy—and judging from the results, it was undoubtedly effective.
Now, filled with rage and gnashing their teeth, they vowed to seek justice from these invaders.
This mobile city, which had always been in such a favorable position, now seems to be at its wits' end.
It unleashed a barrage of fire with the remaining weapons on its deck, while the surviving infantry fighting vehicles and attack helicopters swarmed around it, firing frantically.
However, their sporadic firepower was simply insufficient to suppress the giants charging from all directions. As one infantry fighting vehicle and armed helicopter after another was destroyed, the mobile city was completely isolated and helpless.
However, when the giant at the front raised his club and roared as he swung it down at it, an unexpected turn of events suddenly occurred.
The next second, his arm, along with the stick, flew backwards into the air.
At the same time, before the other giants could react, their bodies also snapped abruptly without warning, just like his.
Some were cut in half at the waist, some had their heads severed, and some had their hands and feet severed.
Amidst the incredulous and even horrified gazes of the giants, transparent ripples appeared nearby.
One after another, giant, jet-black creatures appeared. They were thirty or forty meters long, with slender, streamlined bodies, long, narrow heads, no eyes, ears, or noses, and small, retractable mouths.
The most striking feature is their tail, which is almost as long as their body, thick and powerful, with a flattened end and sharp edges like a razor.
On the chests of these giant creatures, a line of numbers was clearly embedded.
"G23 biological weapon, grade: B, type: melee, genetic source: alien world."
As the colossal creature slaughtered the giant, the surviving supervisor slowly stood up.
"This old product is so good, yet those old guys keep clamoring to phase it out," he lamented.
Just then, a giant hand suddenly grabbed him!
It turned out to be the first giant to charge forward. He braved the giant creature's bites and rushed forward to grab the supervisor.
He stared wide-eyed, gritted his teeth and roared something, then clenched his fist tightly!
But to his surprise, instead of the expected feeling of flesh and bone shattering, he felt a sudden, sharp pain.
Under his incredulous gaze, his entire hand cracked open with countless fissures, like a parched riverbed, and then exploded with a deafening roar.
The supervisor, on the other hand, landed on the ground as if nothing had happened.
At the same time, the researchers who had fallen in pools of blood stood up one after another, their flesh wriggling as if alive, quickly repairing their bodies that had been blasted beyond recognition.
Not only that, even the dilapidated mobile city showed signs of activity. The armor, engineering equipment, firearms, and various tools on its deck were rapidly restored as if they were alive, and it was back to normal in no time.
During this time, the entire city also emitted a faint, low hiss, like a wild beast disturbed from its slumber by mosquitoes venting its dissatisfaction.
After witnessing the giant before him being completely brought down, the supervisor waved his hand.
"Let's get back to work."
