Mobile City Travel Guide
Chapter 1 The next world is...
As dusk fell, the clouds and rosy hues grew dim.
On the windswept horizon, a colossal creature, as large as a small mountain, slowly approached.
Buildings, fields, robotic arms, searchlights, water towers, rows of tires... it was actually a mobile city.
On the watchtower, Li Xin sighed with a mix of melancholy and wistfulness.
"We've finally made it through this world."
As he muttered to himself, he looked at the notification box that appeared in front of him, his expression gradually becoming serious.
[2 minute and 15 seconds remaining until we reach the next world]
Unlike the human civilization they originally belonged to, this human civilization seemed to be cursed by an invisible supreme will, and every once in a while they would be transported to a random world.
A world of harsh winter, a world of aliens, a world of Cthulhu, a world of the bizarre...
The completely unpredictable and bizarre world makes survival a living hell.
The survivors rely on mobile cities that combine survival, migration, and combat.
"I wonder what kind of world the next one will be?"
Li Xin silently pondered.
This mobile city, named "Spark," was extremely mediocre in terms of size, configuration, and strength, with only twenty or thirty people. The original body he transmigrated into was a young lord who had just taken over the reins from his deceased father.
The current world is a wasteland, which is extremely easy. There is no native civilization, and the wasteland creatures that appear do not pose a great threat. The biggest challenge to survival is the shortage of water and food.
Li Xin, who had traveled from another world, led his companions through a difficult struggle to survive, finally managing to endure the stipulated three-month stay in the world.
As he gazed at the countdown timer in thought, his deputy, Lu Chen, slowly walked over and handed him a list of supplies that he had just compiled.
"Actually, there's no need to look closely. Food, fresh water, medicine, fuel, and spare parts... most of our resources are almost gone," he said in a deep voice. "Now, we can only hope that the next world will be better."
The only supplies that were still available were bullets and shells, because the wasteland world was only extremely arid and lacked fresh water and food, and there was no fatal threat. Therefore, the Starfire had not engaged in any combat operations in the past three months, and did not even need to keep moving at all times.
Deep within his heart, Li Xin had countless times envisioned the ideal world he would traverse:
The land is lush with water and vegetation, its mountains and rivers are verdant, and its native civilizations and monsters are either ignorant, weak, or nonexistent. Oil, gas, and mineral veins abound...
And the time spent there is long enough for one to live a peaceful life.
Looking at the empty list in his hand, and then at the gray and chaotic horizon before him, a self-deprecating smile appeared on his lips.
"There's no such thing as a free lunch in this world."
Five, four, three, two, one...
As the countdown ended, the world before Li Xin's eyes seemed to be paused. He felt as if he had fallen into a time tunnel woven with light and shadow, and the scenes of the wasteland world were rapidly pulled away and stretched into blurry bands of color like shattered paintings, rushing backward on both sides of his vision.
Finally, a bright light burst forth at the end of the tunnel.
As the entirely new world unfolded before him, Li Xin, regaining his senses, immediately looked around with extreme vigilance.
At this moment, the Starfire was in a wilderness. Nearby, there were unknown flowers and grasses swaying gently in the wind, and in the distance, there were winding rivers and mountains. The sky above was a hazy gray.
"Very good!"
His companions immediately exclaimed in surprise.
Compared to the desolate and barren wasteland, this world is obviously much better.
Here, you can not only obtain basic resources such as fresh water, timber, and stone, but also try to extract oil and gas resources and mineral veins, and even hunt and gather the animals, fruits, and vegetables of this world, and taste the local flavors of this world.
Even Li Xin hesitated before nodding.
So, my luck this time was...not bad?
Out of caution, he ordered the Starfire to remain lit and ready for action, and had his comrades take their positions in front of the heavy machine guns and cannons.
"Yunzhi, give us a preliminary analysis of the situation in this world!" he said in a deep voice.
With Li Xin's command, a low hum and the crackling of electricity came from the outer wall of Xinghuo. Several old detection devices with yellowed shells and flickering screens started automatically, extending probes and sensors to collect and analyze the external spectrum, gas composition, and soil vegetation.
A dozen minutes later, a mechanical female voice rang out.
"The preliminary assessment has been completed. The atmospheric composition, gravity, geographical environment and human home planet of the current world are more than 70% similar, and the probability of the existence of civilization is 95%."
"Please note! The concentration of suspended particulate matter and pollutants in the air has been detected to be quite high. We recommend that all personnel wear high-efficiency filter masks or closed respirators."
"Furthermore, as a city AI, my core database version is already very outdated, and I strongly recommend that you complete the system upgrade as soon as possible."
"Okay, cough, cough cough..."
As he nodded, Li Xin coughed lightly a few times.
He sensed it even without his AI reminding him.
But for most people, being able to breathe is already a blessing.
Because in some parts of the world, the atmosphere is completely unbreathable.
The Starfire's equipment was far too outdated; it lacked filtering masks and sealed breathing masks, not to mention an internal air circulation system. Once in that kind of world, it would be helpless and doomed.
[Remaining time to travel to the next world: 13 days, 23 hours, 57 minutes, and 35 seconds]
After the time travel ended, a new prompt appeared before everyone's eyes, with bright red and glaring text.
"Oh, so we can only stay for two weeks this time?" someone asked disappointedly.
Disappointment also appeared on everyone's faces.
Having barely survived the wasteland, the Starfire's resources were running out. They'd finally found a reasonably decent world, and had hoped to gather as many resources as possible, but the time allotted for it was far too short.
Just then, a series of tremors suddenly came from afar.
On the horizon, a figure slowly emerged.
That was a giant.
His appearance is no different from that of a human, but he is fifty or sixty meters tall.
The giant's attire... resembled that of a 20th-century European or American worker. He wore an old-fashioned baseball cap, high-waisted overalls and a shirt, carried a fishing rod on his shoulder, and held a bucket in his hand.
For a moment, everyone on the Starfire was stunned.
"My God, what is this thing?" someone muttered in disbelief.
A few drops of cold sweat slowly dripped down Li Xin's forehead.
As the most common and prevalent Level 1 mobile city, the Spark is only 45 meters long, 28 meters wide, and 24 meters high, while the giant in front of it is half a body taller than it!
The giant had clearly noticed the mobile city not far away, and his face showed surprise and curiosity when he saw the tiny humans on the deck.
He then casually tossed aside his fishing rod and bucket, and ran over with undisguised excitement and greed.
"Open fire immediately!"
Li Xin roared.
The Starfire's firepower erupted instantly, raining bullets and shells down on the giant. But this barrage was utterly incapable of killing the giant; it merely tore his skin and flesh, his sheer size making him unbearable.
The attack did not frighten the giant; instead, it aroused his unprecedented ferocity and anger.
A thrilling chase ensued across the wilderness. The Starfire swerved and drifted at extreme angles, dodging the giant's outstretched hand as it pursued them. The giant's grotesque features, twisted in rage, drew ever closer, and its massive, textured, and grimy hands repeatedly grazed the edge of the city, sending chills down the spines of everyone on deck.
Seeing that the Starfire was getting faster and faster and was about to leave him behind, the impatient giant suddenly roared and leaped up to pounce!
At the critical moment, the helmsman slammed the steering wheel all the way to the right, and the Starfire made a near-limit drift amidst a screeching sound, narrowly avoiding the giant's attack.
The latter, with a look of astonishment at missing its target, crashed to the ground like a mountain, stirring up a cloud of dust.
"Finally, we've gotten rid of that thing!"
Everyone sighed with lingering fear.
Li Xin was about to breathe a sigh of relief when his pupils suddenly contracted as he subconsciously looked back at the giant, and a bone-chilling cold surged through his body.
"Everyone, take cover immediately!"
Seconds later, a violent rain of gravel engulfed the Starfire, blasting countless shocking craters and cracks into its deck and walls.
It turned out that when the giant got up, he casually grabbed a boulder next to him, crushed it, and threw it over with all his might!
Although the Starfire was badly damaged by the bombs, it did not lose power and eventually accelerated away at full speed.
As the group slowly rose from their makeshift shelter, they saw a giant standing still, gazing at them from afar.
He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists, his eyes revealing a deep-seated resentment and hatred.
......
"So we're actually in a world of giants now?" Lu Chen asked quietly.
Li Xin nodded.
"Most likely."
With its enormous size, terrifying strength, and intelligence... this giant is far too threatening!
Thinking of this, Li Xin continued to recall the details of the giant's attire: an old-fashioned baseball cap, thick and durable high-waisted work pants, and a plaid shirt with faded shoulder seams but neatly sewn, plus a metal fishing rod and a plastic bucket.
"Judging from these clothes and tools, this tribe has probably already developed into a civilization..." he thought to himself.
Everyone seemed preoccupied until dinner time.
The wasteland world was already hard enough, and everyone was hoping that things would be better after they traveled to a new world, but it turned out to be much worse than they imagined.
It was called a meal, but everyone just had a boiled potato. Space was limited in the mobile city, so the cultivated land could only grow these hardy and drought-resistant crops.
As the lord, Li Xin could only offer words of comfort.
"No matter what, there is always hope."
Just then, several lines of text suddenly appeared on the potato he was eating.
