Full-Time Magister: Rebirth of Mo Fan as the Primordial Evil Phoenix

Chapter 31 Teacher Tang Yue, do you keep your word?
The temporary medical area was set up in a teaching building within the security zone.
The corridor was packed with people.
The stretcher lay horizontally, a waterproof tarpaulin was spread on the ground, and the doctor and his assistant moved back and forth, even speaking in hushed tones. The smells of medicine, blood, and rain mingled together, making one's chest feel heavy.
Mo Fan was placed in the innermost private ward.
When Zhan Kong entered, he just saw the doctor putting away the examination equipment.
"How is it?" Zhan Kong asked.
The doctor glanced at Mo Fan on the bed: "This kid's recovery ability is far beyond that of ordinary people. Logically speaking, a normal person would not have survived an injury of this severity, but he miraculously survived. Whether he can wake up later depends on himself."
Zhan Kong nodded and didn't ask any further questions.
Mo Fan lay pale on the hospital bed, his lips almost bloodless, a new bandage wrapped around his chest, and his breathing was much lighter than usual. If one didn't know that this kid had killed a Winged Wolf, anyone seeing him like this would think he was just a student who was seriously injured and unconscious.
Zhan Kong's gaze lingered on Mo Fan for a moment before finally settling on the brief injury record on the bedside table.
Burns, depleted magical energy...
"Wake me when you wake up," Zhan Kong said.
"it is good."
He turned and left the ward. At the end of the corridor, Principal Zhu and several teachers were checking the evacuation list with several members of the Magic Association.
Several statistical tables were wet from the rain, their edges were wrinkled, but the handwriting was still legible.
"The first round of statistics for the main urban area is out," a staff member said. "Casualties are still rising, but they are much lower than initially estimated. Several major evacuation zones have been preserved, and a large number of residents were evacuated before the demon tide fully engulfed the area."
Principal Zhu hummed in agreement, his finger remaining pressed on the paper without immediately lifting it.
Principal Zhu asked softly, "What about the students?"
"They've mostly evacuated." The teacher's voice was weary, but also tinged with belated relief. "Luckily, the evacuation was timely."
Zhan Kong stood to the side, listening to these words, and looked up at the window.
When the demons first began to stir, many people in Bo City didn't think things were too bad. If someone hadn't anticipated the worst and reported it in time, the city wouldn't have had time to do anything about it.
Zhan Kong didn't say these things aloud, but only asked, "Is everything stable in the refugee camp?"
"It's safe now," Principal Zhu said. "At least we can catch our breath."
Zhan Kong remained silent for a moment, then suddenly smiled.
"If that kid were awake, he'd probably ask himself how much of a contribution he'd made."
Principal Zhu didn't respond to that, but only glanced towards the ward: "This is what he deserves..."
Tang Yue entered the ward half an hour later.
She was also injured; her shoulder and ribs had been re-bandaged, and she didn't look well, but she could walk steadily now. She asked the doctor a few simple questions to confirm that Mo Fan was not in immediate danger before pushing open the door to go inside.
The lights in the ward weren't turned on too brightly.
Mo Fan was still asleep.
The wind outside the window made the half-open curtains sway gently, and occasionally the sounds of someone moving machinery could be heard in the distance. Compared to the hustle and bustle outside, it was as quiet as if it were on a separate floor.
Tang Yue stood by the bed, looking at Mo Fan.
The Mo Fan of the great battle is a completely different person from the one now.
Back then, he was like a man possessed, regarding the Winged Wolf as nothing more than a blade of grass. Now, lying here, he's unusually quiet, even his usual troublesome aura is gone.
She looked at him for a moment, her gaze involuntarily falling on his chest.
The collar had been torn open slightly while the wound was being treated, and the small loach pendant was half-hidden at the edge of the bandage, clinging tightly to the skin. It remained completely still, as serene as any ordinary ornament. But a closer look revealed that the blood-red veins on it were a shade deeper than before.
But she only glanced at it and didn't think much of it.
What she cared about more was Mo Fan's condition.
Tang Yue pulled up a chair and sat down on the edge of the bed.
She stared at Mo Fan's face for a long time.
Scenes from the previous battle flashed before her eyes: the demonic wind, the blood rain, the burning fire, the winged wolves that pounced down, and Mo Fan's frighteningly high body temperature when he fell into her arms.
Scenes flashed before her eyes one by one.
"If you live—I'll grant you anything."
"Will you marry me? —"
"Marry me! If you dare die, I'll burn you first!"
A tear rolled down Tang Yue's cheek. She was completely unaware of it.
At the time, her mind was in complete turmoil; all she could think about was pulling Mo Fan back from the brink of death, and she didn't care about anything else. But now that he was actually lying here, and his life was saved, that statement suddenly became clear, and she couldn't pretend it hadn't happened.
I felt embarrassed and annoyed.
Tang Yue even felt a headache just thinking about Mo Fan's behavior after he woke up.
But she couldn't bring herself to say that she had just made a casual remark and that it didn't count.
Because she knew that it wasn't a lie at the time.
At least, when Mo Fan was covered in blood and collapsed in her arms, her words were not at all perfunctory.
"I really owe you something," Tang Yue muttered under her breath.
After hurling insults, they fell silent again.
She looked at Mo Fan on the hospital bed with a complicated expression.
This student was different from the others from the very beginning. He was bold, had a sharp tongue, loved to cause trouble, and always seemed to be at the forefront when he shouldn't be. You might call him reckless, but he actually managed to get things done. You might call him reliable, but he was usually quite unserious.
But after that night, many things were indeed different.
It's not just Bocheng.
This also includes her relationship with Mo Fan.
The sound of voices drifted in from outside the window, as if another group of survivors had been settled. Tang Yue felt a sudden sense of relief as she listened to the noise.
At least, everything this guy did before was a good thing for Bocheng.
As she was thinking, Mo Fan's finger on the hospital bed suddenly twitched.
Tang Yue was startled and immediately leaned forward.
Mo Fan frowned, as if struggling to break free from profound exhaustion. After a few seconds, his Adam's apple bobbed slightly, his breathing became erratic, and then he slowly opened his eyes.
At first, his eyes were somewhat unfocused.
Light from the ceiling, the corners of the walls, and the windows.
Finally, his gaze slowly turned and settled on Tang Yue's face.
Just as Tang Yue was about to ask him how he felt, Mo Fan looked at her for two seconds, as if to confirm something, and then his lips moved slightly.
His voice was hoarse and weak.
"Teacher Tang Yue, you'll keep your word, won't you?"
The ward fell silent.
The wind was still blowing outside the window, and the faint sound of rescue vehicles could be heard in the distance, but all of this seemed very far away.
Tang Yue looked at this little rascal who had been thinking about this matter as soon as he woke up. She was about to scold him, but the word "you..." was stuck in her throat because of his weak appearance.
Her ears were flushed a little red, but she still kept a straight face.
After a few seconds, she snorted coldly.
"Let's focus on getting better first, then we'll talk about that."
