Peninsula Cicada Song Diary

Chapter 7: The Female Idol I Most Want to See the First Snow With

The sun had completely set behind the mountains, and the sky was a deep, dark blue, like a sheet of paper soaked in oil.

"What?" Pei Xiyan rubbed her eyes, seemingly confused by the darkness, and didn't quite hear.

The girl pursed her lips, clutching the paper stick in her palm. She came up, took off his Bluetooth earphone, handed it to him, and continued:

"Don't fall asleep while eating a lollipop."

"When did Nuna come back?" Pei Xiyan took the earphones and put them into the earphone case.

"Just a few minutes ago," the girl said with a flawless expression. "Don't change the subject."

What activities are you doing today?

"The Jiangnan Festival." The girl frowned and shook her finger. "Don't change the subject."

"How was the atmosphere?"

"The atmosphere is great." The girl pinched his face. "I told you not to change the subject."

"Nuna," Pei Xiyan looked at her pitifully, "...I missed you."

"...It doesn't work on me to act cute." The girl said this, but she loosened her grip on her cheek.

"Nuna." Pei Xiyan stood up from the recliner, opened her arms, "Welcome home."

The girl paused for a moment, then a gentle smile curved her lips. She stepped out of the darkness and hugged him. Her deep voice rose from Pei Xiyan's chest, "Don't sleep with a lollipop in your mouth anymore, understand?"

"Hey~" Pei Xiyan patted her back gently.

Knowing is one thing, changing is another.

......

Walking back into the bright living room, the TV, which the girl had casually turned on when she returned, was playing entertainment news.

"Recently, in an online poll for 'The female idol you most want to see the first snow with,' Red Velvet's leader Irene won first place with 28461 votes..."

"Noona's in first place again!" Pei Xiyan stretched and remarked casually, "Truly the pride of Daegu!"

Seeing her photo appear on TV with the word "First Place," the protagonist, Bae Joo-hyun, pushed up her glasses and calmly said, "I really don't understand why there are so many of these weird polls online."

"Nuna is probably secretly pleased, isn't she?" Pei Xiyan saw through her act immediately. "If she had come in second, she probably would have turned off the TV right away."

"Ugh." Bae Joo-hyun glared at him. "I'm not as exaggerated as you're making it out to be."

"If we play games after dinner, I'll believe you if Nuna doesn't even think about getting first place," Pei Xiyan suggested.

"Yes, that's right." Bae Joo-hyun refused cleanly and decisively, tossing her hair as she walked towards the kitchen.

Pei Xiyan followed behind with a smile, "What are we having for dinner?"

"Stir-fried rice cakes," Bae Joo-hyun said in a nonchalant tone.

"Again?" Pei Xiyan's eyes widened.

"again."

"Doesn't Nuna get tired of it?" Pei Xiyan sighed. "She seems to eat it even more often than kimchi."

"It's so delicious that I never get tired of it." Bae Joo-hyun turned around and smiled, the soft light from the ceiling like a built-in angel filter.

"Then let's have fried chicken," Pei Xiyan suddenly said. "Fried chicken is delicious too."

The "angel's" expression changed instantly, and the filter was no longer gentle. "What did you say?"

"Fried chicken." Pei Xiyan took out her phone and prepared to order.

"Michuso (Are you crazy?)" Bae Joo-hyun turned around and angrily crossed her arms.

"Nuna has to overcome her own problems eventually," Pei Xiyan said calmly as she continued operating the machine. "This time, don't eat as much as you did when you were little, then you won't have indigestion."

"No!" Bae Joo-hyun snapped like a cat with its fur standing on end, reaching out a paw to snatch the phone, but Pei Xiyan deftly raised her hand to dodge it.

"Give it to me." She beckoned with her finger, her tone leaving no room for argument.

"Nuna, just like your fried chicken, stir-fried rice cakes have become a complete problem for me." Pei Xiyan remained defiant.

Bae Joo-hyun looked at the phone, which was over two meters tall, and tried to reach it, but couldn't reach it at all. Moreover, judging from her expression, even if she jumped up, she probably still couldn't reach it.

And if I jump around, Pei Xiyan will definitely jump around too.

"Okay, okay, then what do you want to eat?" She puffed out her cheeks.

"There's still so much stuff in the fridge..." Pei Xiyan said, "And actually there's a way to have the best of both worlds."

"I just bought something from the snack shop this afternoon."

"What?" Bae Joo-hyun's eyelashes fluttered in confusion.

......

"Gurgle gurgle".

In the center of the table was a large pot of bright red broth, with chunks of tomatoes bobbing up and down inside, and a constant stream of steam rising to the ceiling, as if giving the ceiling light a sauna.

Around the pot were a variety of side dishes taken from the refrigerator, including meat, vegetables, mushrooms, and instant noodles, along with a plate of chopped kimchi, and of course, most importantly... rice cakes.

Although she didn't know why a snack shop would sell hot pot base, it didn't stop Bae Joo-hyun from throwing rice cakes and other ingredients into the pot all at once.

While waiting for the food to cook, Pei Xiyan recounted her experiences at JYP.

"Senior Park Jin-young is quite enthusiastic," Pei Xiyan said. "He has a kind of 'hot' vibe, like a tropical rainforest."

"Appearance and personality are indeed closely related."

"I thought you already knew," Bae Joo-hyun raised an eyebrow. "So Seulgi hasn't made you realize this yet?"

Pei Xiyan fell silent. That's true.

That incredibly silly Noona...

"...JYP's cafeteria is bigger than SM's, and the food tastes about the same. I even ran into TWICE at lunchtime."

"Them," Bae Joo-hyun said. She was quite familiar with TWICE, having met and interacted with them on various occasions as fellow girl groups. "They're all very nice girls."

"Like Nayeon, Jeongyeon... especially Sana, her personality is unbelievably good."

Pei Xiyan nodded in deep agreement.

This person was indeed so enthusiastic that they dared to sit right next to me for a meal and greet me and chat happily. They might even have some connection with Park Jin-young.

Pei Xiyan guessed that she was just as enthusiastic towards everyone, and that she couldn't possibly be the exception.

Was the girl in my dream her? Those clear eyes when I said her name...

"It's ready to eat."

Bae Joo-hyun, who was keeping a close eye on the pot, saw the small white boat that had sunk to the bottom rise to the surface and gave a warning.

"Let Nuna finish this off." Pei Xiyan had no interest in the rice cakes. She stirred the pot and picked up a few slices of tangled beef rolls. "I still prefer this."

"Rice cakes are so delicious." Bae Joo-hyun tied her hair up, scooped up some rice cakes with a large spoon, and also scooped some tomato soup into the bowl.

"So they're all for Nuna," Pei Xiyan said with a smile.

A scene of harmonious sisterly love and brotherly respect.

There were many dishes prepared, but the portions were not large. In addition, since one of them was a female idol and needed to manage her figure, the carbohydrate intake from rice cakes alone was almost at its limit, and about two-thirds of the rest went into Pei Xiyan's stomach.

"...I talked about Nuna with my senior today." After finishing her meal, Pei Xiyan leaned back in her chair and recounted the unfinished story, "He even wanted to recruit you to be an actress."

"What did you say?" Bae Joo-hyun rested her chin on her hand. "Did you just tell him my identity directly?"

"I said, 'My Nuna is a fairy, she can't bear any hardship in the human world.'" Pei Xiyan said without batting an eye. "Senior wisely gave up on his own."

"Really?" Bae Joo-hyun looked incredulous.

"It's even more real than SM's hype." Pei Xiyan said sincerely.
