Peninsula Cicada Song Diary

Chapter 60 Call Me Sana

Pei Xiyan hesitated for a moment, then recounted how she had played games with the EXO members the night before, made a bet and lost, and had to honor her bet by delivering a support truck and acting as a deliveryman to their door.

as predicted.

Sana Minatozaki did not keep her promise.

"Hahaha~"

She bent over and laughed, her laughter echoing up and down the steps, almost to the point of sitting on the ground.

"This is the funniest thing I've heard recently," Minatozaki Sana commented with a laugh. Then, perhaps tired from laughing, she tried to straighten up, but this simple movement caused her to lose her balance and her whole body to suddenly lean forward.

Like a wheat stalk blown down by the wind.

Pei Xiyan's pupils, hidden under the brim of her hat, suddenly contracted, and she quickly grabbed her shoulder.

There was no dramatic scene like accidentally bumping into someone's chest in a TV drama. Pei Xiyan was certain that he was supporting himself on her shoulder. Minatozaki Sana's shoulder wasn't very fleshy, and he could clearly feel her shoulder blade.

Like almost all female idols, she is actually very thin.

Sana Minatozaki steadied herself, brushed aside the hair that had swayed down to her chin, and looked up. "Thank you."

"You're sick." Pei Xiyan sensed something was wrong.

"Huh?" Sana Minatozaki was taken aback. The boy in front of her still had handsome, pale skin, but the furrowed brows under his hat were so deep they seemed to hold water. Her lips moved slightly, and she smiled broadly.

"No way, I'm perfectly fine."

Her smile was lively and sunny, without a single flaw, but Pei Xiyan knew it was all an act.

Celebrities' smiles are the result of countless trials and tribulations. Sometimes, Bae Joo-hyun would force a smile to reassure him. Having seen so many formulaic smiles, Bae Xi-yan could tell the difference.

"You actually don't dare to walk too fast," he said.

"I'm just trying to help you keep up," Sana Minatozaki argued. "What if you get lost?"

"I'm not a child," Pei Xiyan thought to herself, noticing that Minatozaki Sana had been leaning against the wall the whole time.

"You're actually afraid of losing your balance, so you need to lean against the wall."

Sana Minatozaki was jolted off the wall behind her as if she had been electrocuted. Because it was so sudden, she swayed a little, like a roly-poly toy. Pei Xiyan immediately steadied her by supporting her shoulders.

Anyone could tell something was wrong from her weak appearance. Pei Xiyan withdrew her hand, frowned, and wanted to continue speaking, but was interrupted.

"Oh, I'm just feeling a little unwell." Unable to hide it any longer, Minatozaki Sana stopped concealing it.

"However..." She leaned back against the wall, her thumb and forefinger creating a tiny gap, "just a little bit."

"We still need to see a doctor to be sure." Pei Xiyan only believed in the facts. "Health is not a trivial matter."

"Let's talk about it after the song performance." Sana Minatozaki shook her head.

"Is it okay to go on stage while sick?" Pei Xiyan frowned.

"Because if you've chosen the path of an idol, you should do this," Sana Minatozaki said without hesitation. "If you can't even do the simplest thing like being dedicated, you won't achieve anything great no matter what job you do."

As the question and answer fell in the stairwell, the two of them froze.

It was still raining outside, and the faint sound of rain couldn't penetrate the glass; for a moment, only the sound of shallow breathing could be heard.

"These words... seem familiar." Pei Xiyan rubbed her chin.

"Me too." Minatozaki Sana nodded.

The two exchanged a glance, as if they had both thought of it, and smiled knowingly.

"Why didn't you message me when you came today?" Taking advantage of this moment, Minatozaki Sana changed the subject and began to interrogate, "As my fan site admin, you should know my schedule, right?"

I really didn't know. Pei Xiyan blinked. If he hadn't noticed that album in the waiting room, he probably would have left after a while.

"You've been very busy lately, and I don't want to bother you," Pei Xiyan said, offering another reason.

"Why would you think that?" Sana Minatozaki pouted. "We're friends. Isn't it normal for friends to text each other?"

"Even close friends need to be observant and see if others have time," Pei Xiyan said. He wasn't the type to presume that others would have time to wait for him.

"But you don't send it to me, how do you know if I have time?" Sana Minatozaki pointed out the flaw in his words.

Pei Xiyan pursed her lips. "I think you..."

"Don't judge a book by its cover if you don't do it," Sana Minatozaki interrupted him, her brows slightly furrowed.

"Xi Yan is Chinese, doesn't he know this saying?"

"Practice is the sole criterion for testing truth."

Pei Xiyan was surprised that such a sentence could come out of her mouth. It felt strange, like eating a sandwich cookie with Kung Pao Chicken flavor.

"Where did Sanaxi find out?" he asked.

"Call me Sana." Sana Minato said seriously, which surprised Pei Xiyan.

"...Sana." When he spoke again, he obediently omitted the honorific at the end.

"Hehe." Sana Minatozaki was satisfied, and then began to recall, "This is something I heard from a Chinese trainee friend. She said it's a famous saying that almost every Chinese person knows."

"Your friend is absolutely right," Pei Xiyan nodded.

"So, has Xiyan realized her mistake?" Sana Minato's tone shifted, sounding like a police officer interrogating a criminal.

"What?"

"Practice is the sole criterion for testing truth," she read aloud again.

"That's not the point," Pei Xiyan said, choosing to change the subject.

"What is that?"

"We should go back." Pei Xiyan's eyes, hidden beneath her hat brim, flashed with guilt. "Your body needs more rest. I shouldn't have played that game."

"The guessing game was really fun, Chaeyoung and I had a lot of fun." Sana Minatozaki shook her head, then looked straight at him. "Besides, you didn't even call me."

"I decided to come out and see for myself."

I just wanted to see you, that's all.

That slow-motion movie feeling returned; Pei Xiyan's senses were stretched out, and the inaudible sound of rain suddenly pierced through the glass, falling into her ears along with her quickened heartbeat, making a dripping sound.

"I..." Pei Xiyan swallowed hard, then suddenly turned her head away from her gaze, and looked at the glass again. "Let's go back now."

"So, has Xiyan realized her mistake?" Minatozaki Sana was still concerned about this question.

"Inside." Pei Xiyan followed her, placing her hand on the doorknob to open the door. "Let's go."

"Alright then." Sana Minatozaki's eyes narrowed into those of a little fox. She lifted her back from the wall to steady herself, then suddenly remembered something else.

"Oh, right, what you said was important..."

"Shh." Pei Xiyan suddenly gestured for her to be quiet. He withdrew his hand from the doorknob and said in a low voice, "Someone's coming."

Sana Minatozaki's pupils contracted, and she sensibly stopped speaking. The stairwell fell silent again, but the sounds of footsteps and conversation from inside the door drifted through the crack in the door.

"Unnie, are we really going to take the stairs?"

"Maga, the elevator is taking too long..."
