Chapter 5 Villain Characters

Azura, is this Zukor's sister?

Kahn looked at her curiously.

Azura looks about the same age as them, but her clothes and appearance don't resemble those of a little girl her age; she looks more like a boy.

She is very cute, which is to be expected, since her brother Zu Kou is also a handsome young man. But what is jarring is that the smile on her face reveals a sinister malice, completely ruining her good looks.

Kahn frowned, wondering where he'd learned that expression from; it looked like he'd had a botched plastic surgery.

Zu Kou often complained to him about his sister. In Zu Kou's words, his sister was a wicked woman who had committed countless evil deeds.

Although Zukor was just a child, and his complaints might have been exaggerated and subjective, Azura was undoubtedly a brat.

Mischievous kids are always a lot of trouble, but a mischievous kid like Azura, with her privileged status, is the worst kind of trouble.

It's best to stay away from her, Kahn decided.

Unfortunately, it was too late.

Although Kahn only glanced at Azura quickly, the involuntary frown she made seemed to her to express disgust, and her expression instantly turned fierce:

"What, you enjoy staring at me? Should I gouge your eyes out and put them in my room so you can look at them every day?!"

"Azura, don't scare Kahn!"

Zu Kou said with dissatisfaction.

"Grandma, didn't anyone teach you manners? Don't interrupt other people when they're speaking."

Azura completely ignored Zuko and just stared at Kahn:

"Is your friend mute? If so, why not sew his mouth shut? That way, people won't misunderstand. See, what a brilliant idea!"

Azura clapped her hands in approval after speaking, clearly very satisfied with her suggestion.

However, the meaning behind her words is chilling, and it's hard to believe that a little girl could say such things; it goes far beyond what a bratty child would do.

"I wish to keep both my eyes and my mouth as they are. I mean no offense, and I apologize if I have done anything wrong."

Kahn answered calmly.

In reality, he was thinking that Azura's words couldn't possibly be something a little girl her age could come up with on her own. So he didn't pay attention to Azura's threat, but instead began to consider what kind of person would raise a little girl like this.

If this was deliberate instruction, then the person's intentions were far too sinister, especially towards a princess.

Azura was unaware of Kahn's thoughts, but even so, Kahn's current attitude surprised her and was enough to make her unhappy.

In her mind, Kahn should be afraid, he should be afraid of her.

But Kahn remained calm.

This shouldn't be the case. Why isn't he afraid of me?

"Even if Kahn did something, he's already apologized. Besides, you clearly started it first. Azura, haven't you made enough of a scene? If you keep this up, I'm going to tell Mother!"

Zuko's voice was as timid as ever. Azura curled her lip in disdain, stood up from the wall, and stared at Kahn, seemingly about to do something. But then, a gentle yet questioning voice came from the side:

"Azura, Zukor, what are you arguing about?"

The three of them looked over upon hearing this.

Emerging from the palace was a beautiful woman with a gentle demeanor. Her lovely face exuded a serene and composed air, while her magnificent and impeccably tailored palace robes added a touch of solemnity.

"Mother!"

Zu Kou called out.

Zuko's mother, named Ershu, was staring intently at Azura on the wall, her brow furrowed as she said:

"Azura, how could you climb up the wall? It's too dangerous!"

She then said to the maid beside her, "Quickly pull Azu down."

"No need, I can get down myself."

Hearing Ershu's reprimand, Azura immediately pouted unhappily. Without waiting for the so-called maid to help, she nonchalantly jumped off the wall and landed easily.

Ershu was startled by Azura's actions: "Azura!"

"I just want to get down quickly, I've already done what you said."

Azura dusted herself off, looking nonchalant, but turned her head to one side, refusing to look at her mother.

"Azura!"

Ershu was somewhat angry, yet also somewhat helpless. Finally, she sighed, looked at Zuko and Kahn, and repeated the question she had just asked:

What were you arguing about just now?

Azura didn't answer, only showing a disdainful look on her face, as if she were sulking. Zuko, on the other hand, didn't hesitate to complain:

"Azura is picking a fight; she's making things difficult for my friend Kahn!"

Azura glanced disdainfully at Zuko:

"Yes, Grandma, you're right, and you're always so self-righteous, especially when Mother is around."

"Mother, look at her!"

"Okay, I understand."

Ershu felt exhausted and was about to punish Azura: "Azura, you..."

"No, madam, that's not true."

At this moment, Kahn suddenly spoke, drawing the attention of all three to him.

What Kahn said next surprised them all greatly. Kahn said:

"I wasn't bullied at all. I was having a normal conversation with Zuko's sister, Azura. Zuko just misunderstood."

"?"

Azura doubted that she had misheard, and even couldn't maintain her expression, blinking in surprise.

"Kahn?!"

Are you crazy?!

Zu Kou exclaimed in surprise, but because his mother was in front of him, he didn't say the rest of his sentence.

Even Ershu was surprised. She looked at Azura and asked, "Did Azura really not bully you?"

Kahn shook his head: "No, there isn't."

"We've only just met, so how could there be any bullying or mistreatment? Even if there were some misunderstandings, they've been resolved, right?"

He glanced at Azura and gave her a subtle look.

Seeing Kahn like this, Azura suddenly felt a strange emotion. Apart from her father, no one had ever treated her like this before, and no one had ever taken the initiative to stand on her side or say a word for her.

This inexplicable emotion made her very irritable, and she even thought about attacking him and burning him to death, disregarding her mother's presence. But for some reason, she didn't in the end.

After what appeared to be a long silence to onlookers, he gave a vague hum, his expression no longer as rebellious as before.

Ershu had some doubts. She knew Azura's personality, so she knew even more that what Kahn said was a lie. However, because of his attitude, she didn't know how to judge for a moment.

Why would Kahn defend Azura, who spoke ill of him upon their first meeting?

Suddenly, an idea flashed through Ershu's mind and became unstoppable.

Could it be that he fell in love with Azura at first sight?
