New Ultraman: Monster Training Master
Chapter 89: The Great Blackout in Japan
"According to Tokyo News, power outages of varying sizes have occurred across Japan recently. According to the power grid company, this is due to a surge in electricity consumption by households caused by the hot weather, leading to insufficient power supply."
Kishida: "Seriously, there have been so many power outages lately. When I came home for the holidays, I had to rely on candles for light at night."
Hoshikawa: "If I say you're stupid, you at least know to light a candle; if I say you're smart, you'd rather use a candle than a flashlight."
Yuka, who was standing nearby, said, "But it's too exaggerated to say that there are power outages all over Japan. I suspect that the facts are different from what the power grid company is saying."
She zoomed in on the data chart on the screen, where the red areas represented areas with severe power outages, the green areas represented areas with minor power outages, and the yellow areas represented areas with moderate power outages.
Hoshikawa noted that the K1 area in Tokyo was the hardest hit by power outages, with at least 10 hours of the day being without power.
"It's the K1 area again." Hoshikawa stroked his chin, his mind filled with doubt.
He always felt that the K1 region had the most monster incidents.
"Hoshikawa, come out with me for a moment." Dan Moroboshi got up and left the command room.
After the two entered a soundproof room, Dan Moroboshi spoke up: "According to reliable information from our informant, a Pitt alien living in Japan is keeping an Eleking. The recent power outage in Tokyo was caused by that Eleking consuming electricity."
Hoshikawa: "If it could keep Tokyo from suffocating for ten hours, that Eleking must be a glutton."
"That doesn't make sense either." Hoshikawa thought about the power outages in other parts of Japan and asked, "It's impossible for one Eleking to cause a power outage throughout Japan. Right now, there's a power outage all over Japan."
Dan Moroboshi: "That's why I called you here. I'll give you a few days off so you can use that time to go around and find out the cause of the power outages."
"If you're going on a mission, then go on a mission. Why do you have to say you're on vacation?" Hoshikawa complained.
Dan Moroboshi: "Alright, the expenses incurred during this period will be charged to the Horrific Team's account."
"Okay." Hoshikawa was afraid that Moroboshi Dan would change his mind, so he immediately rushed back to his dormitory to pack his luggage.
By the time Kishida and the others learned that Hoshikawa was on vacation, he had already taken a ship to Hokkaido.
······
Upon arriving in Hokkaido, Hoshikawa immediately went to the largest power plant in the area and met with the person in charge.
"The data I saw shows that the power outage in Hokkaido lasted from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. the next day."
The person in charge nodded: "Yes, the power grid experiences power loss around 8 p.m. We have tried to find the cause, but the results always show that everything is normal."
Hoshikawa: "Have you sent people to patrol at night? If so, have they discovered anything?"
The person in charge said, "Yes, we do have workers patrolling at night. After their patrols, they write in their reports that they heard the roar of a monster."
"However, their reports all stated that they only heard roars, but did not see any monsters."
"I understand." Hoshikawa initially suspected that the transparent monster [Nerunga] was responsible.
The next moment, he rejected the idea.
Nelongga becomes visible when he absorbs electricity.
After briefly understanding the situation from the person in charge, Hoshikawa planned to wander around other places and come back in the evening to see which monster was absorbing the electricity.
······
late at night.
Small, mummy-like monsters appeared on the electric grid, clinging to it and frantically sucking up electricity.
Hoshikawa immediately recognized it as a small, electric-absorbing monster [Kiakuda].
"Such a large target, and those patrolmen said they didn't see it."
Hoshikawa strongly suspected that the people patrolling at night had never come to the electric fence area at all, but were instead hiding in the buildings taking advantage of the situation.
He took out his phone, took pictures of the small monsters, and sent the pictures to Dan Moroboshi: "Captain, I have found the culprit that caused the power outage in Hokkaido. It's a monster called Kiakuda."
Not long after the message was sent, Dan Moroboshi replied: "I've already sent Kishida and the others to Hokkaido in their fighter jets. You should stay hidden for now."
An hour later, the two fighter jets hovered above the power grid.
Kishida: "It was those ugly things that caused the city's power outage."
He piloted his fighter jet and aimed at the small monster.
"I advise you not to do that; those monsters are immortal," Hoshikawa's voice came through the communication channel.
Kishida: "Why? Is it wrong to kill monsters?"
Hoshikawa: "Killing monsters is not wrong, but killing the monsters on the electric grid is wrong, because those monsters are immortal."
"If you simply break monsters into pieces, the pieces will turn into new monsters, which will lead to an ever-increasing number of monsters."
Kishida: "Is there really no way to do it?"
"Yes," Hoshikawa told them. These small monsters could combine into a giant monster called Kiakuda. If they could find a way to make them combine, they might be able to destroy the monster with fire or ice bullets.
The main problem is that they don't combine into Kiakuda, so Hoshikawa can't capture them with the Gulu Ball.
Hoshikawa has wanted to form a rain team for a long time.
Kishida: "But how can I turn them into Kiakuda?"
Hoshikawa: "If you got a girlfriend, but found that your current apartment was too small for both of you, what would you do?"
"Of course we'll move to a bigger house!" Kishida said, then immediately realized, "If we create something that can release a huge amount of electricity, the smaller monsters will combine to form Kiakuda in order to absorb the electricity."
"See, you can still think straight, can't you?" Hoshikawa nodded with satisfaction.
With Hoshikawa's guidance, Kishida and the others quickly devised a plan.
First, a huge electric net is created to attract small monsters. Once the small monsters combine to form Kiakuda, the incendiary cannons in the front-line warehouse are used to destroy them.
In order not to disrupt the normal electricity use of citizens, the operation was scheduled for midnight. After midnight, the city's power supply would be cut off to ensure that the monster would be attracted by electricity.
······
The next day, at 10 p.m.
There are still two hours until the battle.
"It's really pathetic that such a large frontline base can only send 10 tanks." Hoshikawa put down his binoculars, his tone full of sighs.
It's worth noting that the GUTS team in "Ultraman Tiga" was incredibly powerful when dealing with monsters, easily deploying hundreds of tanks and fighter jets.
Although the tanks and fighter jets didn't do much damage to the monsters, the scene was at least grand and impressive.
Kishida: "There's no other way. The front-line warehouses are already short-staffed. It's already quite difficult to get personnel to drive 10 tanks."
The Huowei Corps is not a defense force; it can easily send tens of thousands of people to the battlefield.
