Demon Lord Tang Dynasty

Chapter 9, 6 roots, 4 sufferings, dwelling.

Inside the spacious tent, the burning brazier illuminated Gao Yi's face, making it appear bright red.

Gao Yi held the book in his hands, his clear eyes shining like stars.

Perhaps because of Bai Yue'er's fatal blow, Protector Bai was very obedient after surrendering. Not only did he not make any underhanded moves, but he also quickly handed over the resources he had in his possession.

Yes, Gao Yi did not reject Bai Yue'er's previous suggestion.

Although he was confident enough to suppress Protector Bai, having an extra layer of protection was still a good thing.

At this moment, what he was looking at was the secret and supreme cultivation method of the Maitreya Sect, the Ten Abodes Mahayana Cultivation Technique.

Of course, in addition to the Ten Abodes Mahayana Practice, the White Dharma Protector also handed over several secret manuals, most of which were esoteric Buddhist practices.

As for the lineage of the Celestial Masters of Ni Huihui that Gao Yi once mentioned, Protector Bai did not possess it.

However, this was exactly what Gao Yi had expected.

Given the long passage of time and the numerous upheavals it has experienced, it is not surprising that the Maitreya sect's lineage is incomplete.

Moreover, although Ni Huihui and Zhu Faqing were husband and wife, they were not necessarily of one mind, and it was unknown whether they could pass on their knowledge.

Of course, despite his words, Gao Yi still felt a little regretful.

After all, that is the legacy of the Celestial Masters sect.

Moreover, Ni Huihui is a direct descendant of the Celestial Masters sect, and the daughter of Xianyun, the first person in the Taoist sect.

It should be known that the most extraordinary skill of the Celestial Masters Sect, the legendary and mysterious Taiping Cave Scripture, was only mastered by Xianyun.

Even Xianyun's disciple, the later Celestial Master Sun En, did not receive the teachings, which led Sun En to have to forge his own path and create the Yellow Heaven Great Law.

The Taiping Cave Sutra was completely lost after Xianyun.

Such a divine skill was probably not taught to Ni Huihui, but as Xianyun's daughter, she would have heard some of the true teachings from her father's repeated instructions.

If one could take a look, perhaps one could glimpse some of the splendor of the Dongji Scripture.

Gao Yi shook his head and refocused his attention on the book in his hand.

"The Ten Abodes Mahayana Practice is truly a peerless skill."

Gao Yi smiled, and the Ten Abodes Mahayana Practice that he had been longing for did not encounter any unexpected problems.

The White Protector does indeed possess this secret manual.

Although the opponent had only mastered one move, the manual in his hand was surprisingly complete.

After seeing the manual, Gao Yi finally understood why Protector Bai, despite possessing a treasure, had only mastered the first form of meditation.

The most important and famous aspect of the Ten Abodes Mahayana Practice, aside from the methods of internal cultivation, is the protective techniques, also known as the Ten Mahayana Forms.

In the original work, Zhu Faqing's appearance was too brief, and he only showed three moves.

These ten techniques are not purely palm techniques. Like the previous White Protector's Meditation, which can interfere with vision with illusions, at a high level, it can even directly deprive one of visual perception.

Therefore, each of the ten Mahayana postures involves spiritual cultivation.

In today's martial arts world, that would be considered a cultivation method at the grandmaster level.

The current level of martial arts, or rather, the level of martial arts in Huang Yi's world, is actually not that complicated.

Humans cultivate true qi, which is the acquired state. Until the Ren and Du meridians are opened, the true qi transforms and returns to the innate state, which is the innate realm.

Subsequent cultivation practices are all within the framework of the innate nature.

However, after reaching the Innate Realm, one no longer only cultivates true qi, but enters the spiritual realm.

Because of the difference in spiritual level, namely the so-called interaction between heaven and man, or the unity of heaven and man, the martial arts world has divided the realms of Grandmaster and Great Grandmaster above the Innate level.

Overall, Huang Shu's martial arts realm is more similar to the Taoist concepts of refining essence into qi, refining qi into spirit, refining spirit into emptiness, and refining emptiness into the Tao. There are no clear-cut distinctions between realms; everything stems from an understanding of the Tao.

Returning to the present, Protector Bai's characteristics are very obvious. Although he is ambitious and somewhat cunning, he is too self-conscious, or rather, too cowardly.

Therefore, those who are inherently deficient in spirit will naturally find their efforts in practicing this kind of Taoist and divine cultivation method less effective.

"Eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind..."

Gao Yi murmured softly.

The six senses in Buddhism are sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, and mind. These six senses give rise to the six consciousnesses, which are also the first six of the ten Mahayana practices.

Among them, the eyes, ears, nose, tongue and body are the five senses, which means the mind. The mind is the dwelling place, which is the stopping posture used by Zhu Faqing in the original work.

These six moves encompass all of a person's external senses; once mastered, they are enough to dominate the world.

As for the four techniques and four dwellings that follow, they are not described in detail in the manual.

It's not that Protector Bai's manual is incomplete.

However, the last four techniques have completely shifted from techniques to principles, involving the high realm of communication between heaven and man.

This level of spiritual cultivation is difficult to express in words.

Of course, the manual also contains some information about the true last four forms, which should be some insights dictated by Zhu Faqing.

Birth, aging, sickness, and death.

The last four techniques of the manual are based on the four sufferings of Buddhism, integrating Buddhist principles into the Dharma.

In particular, the final move of death has the power to bring about rebirth from the depths of death, leading to a state of great purity that is unknowable and immeasurable.

This aligns quite well with the shattered void realm that Gao Yi knew.

Of course, the description of this part is even more obscure and vague, and may even consist of only a single sentence.

It was clear that Zhu Faqing had vaguely sensed the final hurdle, but that was all he could do; he was not capable of delving deeper.

The sentence in the manual can at most be considered Zhu Faqing's deduction.

Even so, it is enough to prove the preciousness of this technique.

Of course, what is written in the manual is the path that Zhu Faqing has walked.

Especially the last four forms; if one blindly follows them and practices solely according to the manual, at best one will only become the second Zhu Faqing.

Everyone has their own path, and everyone can only walk their own path.

Gao Yi understands this principle better than anyone else.

"Master~~~"

Just as Gao Yi's eyes gleamed with divine light, captivated by the divine skill in his hands...

A soft, sweet voice entered my ears.

Gao Yi put down his book and looked up outside the tent.

"Come in."

The moment the voice faded, a beautiful figure darted in.

It was none other than Bai Yue'er.

Bai Yue'er swayed gracefully as she gently approached Gao Yi, turning to the side and kneeling on one knee, her body softly leaning against the side of the bed, close to Gao Yi's leg.

She raised her face and looked at Gao Yi with a gentle, watery gaze.

"Master, I have completed the task you instructed me to perform."

"very good."

Gao Yi put away the book and didn't hold back his praise.

However, Bai Yue'er was clearly not satisfied, and a hint of grievance appeared on her face instead.

Her big eyes stared unblinkingly at Gao Yi.

"Master, Yue'er is so obedient, when can I receive your reward?" Bai Yue'er asked softly, her silver teeth gently biting her lip.

Gao Yi's lips twitched involuntarily.

"Alright, now that we have a formidable enemy before us, I will not forget your contributions."
