The Bizarre Adventure of the Warhammer Guard
Chapter 7 The Echoes of the Martian Covenant and the Expedition
Elpis arrived on Mars and, following the tech priests of the Mechanicus, witnessed the industrial wonders of this largest casting world in human history.
Large industrial zones are situated on Mars, with molten iron flowing through pipes, billowing black smoke filling the air, and various types of steel constantly spewing out from the smelting plants.
The machine servants, transformed by the Cult of Machines, move through the factory, faithfully carrying out orders.
And then there are the technical priests who have replaced most of their flesh and blood with machines, chanting sacred binary hymns and loudly praising the god of machines.
Science and superstition have been strangely fused together here.
The Emperor went to the conference room alone to negotiate, while Elpis and the other two waited at the door.
"Dear guests, I have prepared sacred fragrant oil, sacred incense burner and sacred gears for you." A technical priest who was about two and a half meters tall appeared in the corridor. A mechanical arm was holding a tray with a transparent bottle containing a yellow liquid, a small incense burner and a bunch of gears on it.
"Do you know the Holy Om Messiah? He is the ultimate embodiment of knowledge and reason, the omnipotent God of all machines. Listen to His holy words..." The Tech Priest was preaching the doctrines of the Mechanism Church to the three Imperial Guards in front of him.
"Father," Elpis frowned, interrupting the technical priest's preaching, "we are happy to accept your gift, but we are currently on a mission and cannot speak with you. If all goes well, we will send someone to communicate with you later."
Upon hearing Elpis's words, the Tech Priest nodded, placed the tray on the table beside him, and said, "Very well, may Om Messiah bless you, guests from afar." With that, he turned and left.
Soon after, the conference room doors opened and the Emperor emerged, but he was surrounded by technical priests who shouted the name of the God of All Machines and prayed excitedly around him.
These priests believed the Emperor to be the embodiment of the omnipotent God of all machines in the material universe. Elpis, Diocletian, and Ra quickly stepped forward, pulled the fanatical priests away, and followed the Emperor away.
Subsequently, the Treaty of Olympia was signed.
The Empire has formally formed an alliance with Mars. The Empire will not interfere with the internal structure of Mars, and the Mechanicus will retain its autonomy over Mars and preserve its religious beliefs.
At the same time, the Empire will provide Mars with navigators who have become extinct to help them find lost knowledge and technology.
The corresponding Mars will provide the Emperor's great expedition with a powerful war fleet, offering a variety of weapons, equipment, mechs, and technical support.
With the aid of Mars, the Imperial Expedition progressed even faster. Fleets after fleet were forged from Mars, exploring the entire galaxy, reclaiming lost worlds and searching for lost Primarchs.
The Primarchs were twenty individuals created by the Emperor using his own genes, combined with forbidden dark science and even the power of the warp. These twenty Primarchs were then used as templates to create the twenty current Astartes Legions.
However, when the Primarchs were young, a strange warp storm appeared in their incubation chambers, taking them to worlds throughout the galaxy. The Emperor could sense that the Primarchs were still alive through his powerful psionic abilities.

As the Great Crusade continued, Elpis saw Horus Lupecal, the Emperor's firstborn son. As the Primarch of the Sixteenth Legion, the Warmaster of the Great Crusade, and the future leader of the Great Rebellion, Horus was indeed charismatic and displayed astonishing combat talent.
Elpis saw the Lion King Ryan Al Johnson, the Wolf King Leman Ruth, the beautiful Archangel Saint Gilles, the twisted man Peturabo, the Raven King Clark, the Iron Hand Felus Manus, the Imperial Phoenix Fogrem, the charlatan Loka Aurelion, the Hydra Alpharis, and the Red Devil Magnus.
Conrad Kurtz as "Batman", Vulcan as "Black Uncle", Roger Dorn as "The Rock", Chagatai Khan as "Speedsters", Robert Guilliman as "Blue Grandpa", Mortarian as "The Smoker", and the pitiful Angron.
Of course, Elpis also tried to talk to the Primarchs, hoping to reduce the possibility of their betrayal through talk therapy, but this had little effect.
Horus declared his unwavering loyalty to the Emperor and the Empire, and pledged to dedicate himself to the Emperor's Great Expedition.
Elpis found Loga, but Loga only kept preaching the emperor's divinity to him. In fact, because Elpis discussed the emperor's divinity with him, Loga even gave him a book of sacred words.
Fugrim was only concerned with showcasing his glory and perfection. Peturabo stood there, lost in his own thoughts. They completely ignored Elpis's words.
Magnus continued to proudly display the power of knowledge to himself. Mortarian, after hearing his words, made no response, simply exhaling a puff of green smoke from his respirator before departing.
Angron angrily told Elpis to get out. Coz screamed and left, saying, "You have no future, you're already dead."
As for Alpharis, he nodded thoughtfully, but Elpis didn't have any expectations for the Twentieth Legion. Their subsequent actions of shouting for the Emperor while destroying the Empire left Elpis wondering what they were thinking.
Elpis also saw the Primarchs of the Second and Eleventh Legions, which had been shrouded in mist, but he couldn't remember their names or what they looked like.
All I know is that I got along quite well with the leader of the Second Legion. It's a real pity that it seems these two legions were wiped out by the Emperor.
For some reason, the Emperor erased the originals of both legions and wiped the memories of everyone who knew about it, leaving only some residual memories for himself.
The Great Expedition was truly a glorious era for humanity. Elpis still remembers being frequently sent to the front lines of conquering the galaxy, slaying all sorts of bizarre aliens, and witnessing countless landscapes in the galaxy.
I experienced the forests of Caliban, the snows of Fenris, and the desolation of Baal, as well as the culture of Prospero, the prosperity of Macurag, and even the piety of the perfect city.
Elpis felt more relaxed than ever before, having fought countless battles and slain countless enemies of humanity over the past two hundred years.
I will surely reclaim the galaxy with the Emperor's army, and humanity will surely become the masters of the galaxy. After that, I should go home.
Wait, go home?
Suddenly, an anxious voice rang in Elpis's mind.
"Elpis! Wake up! Elpis!"
