The Bizarre Adventure of the Warhammer Guard

Chapter 46: Boarding in the Interstellar World

Three transport planes took off from Deadwater Base again, heading towards Norard II. However, this time was different; instead of Federation soldiers, the transport planes carried an expeditionary force led by Elpis and elite warriors led by Reno and Rugal.

"Hey guys," Renault gripped his electromagnetic rifle, rubbing the barrel repeatedly, "I mean, do you guys really think this is a good idea?"

"Otherwise, what good ideas do you have?" Lucar was even more nervous. Since takeoff, he had been checking the weapons and equipment. "Should we just surrender and be captured, or resist and be bombed?"

"To be honest, I don't even want to choose," Renault chuckled. "A direct raid on the flagship and seizing the target isn't something a sheriff like me should be doing."

After hearing this, Lucar's tension eased somewhat. As the commander of the Federation's fringe planet, he indeed lacked extensive experience in shipboard combat.

His current actions will likely result in his execution if he is caught, but there's no point in regretting it now; dealing with the immediate danger is the most important thing.

"Don't worry, it's just a small ship," Leon said from the side. "Once we storm the control room, we can take initial control of the entire ship. Then we can capture that general and do whatever we want with him."

"A small ship?" Renault's voice rose, somewhat surprised. "Brother Lyon, you call the Norard II a small ship? It's over 700 meters long and has nearly 4,000 people on board. That's a behemoth-class strategic cruiser of the Federation; there are only nine such warships in the entire Federation."

"The light cruisers I've flown on before were all over two kilometers long, almost three kilometers long, and the space inside was enormous," Lyon said. "Compared to that, 700 meters long is relatively small, and the width and height are also relatively small."

Through the transport plane window, Leon looked at the Norard II hovering in orbit. Compared to the light cruisers of the Human Empire that he had seen before, this flagship in front of him was much smaller.

It does not have a huge ram, and its overall shape is "工" (gong), narrow in the middle and wide at both ends, with the stern being wider than the bow.

The pilots operated the transport plane, sending identification information to the flagship—coded information extracted from the captured federal soldiers.

Then, they received confirmation that the landing indicator light on the operating system changed from red to green.

"Ten minutes until the battlefield," Loken said, his voice slightly raised. "Prepare yourselves. According to the battle plan, head straight for the command center and take control of the entire ship. May the Emperor protect us!"

Everyone performed a final check of the weapons and ammunition, with one exception: Elpis, who remained silently seated in the transport plane, clutching the Spear of Luna.

For Elpis, it was just a simple boarding maneuver; the enemy's weapons couldn't harm him in the slightest, and their defenses were practically nonexistent.

After all, he was the emperor's personal guard, a servant of the human lord. His mere presence on the battlefield signified victory for his side.

"Leon, I have a question I've wanted to ask before," Renault said, turning to Leon after finishing his examination. "Who is the Emperor? Is he your leader?"

Lyon turned his head slightly and looked through the visor on his helmet at Renault, who was also shrouded in the visor of his helmet.

Perhaps it was because neither of them were from the Warhammer world, or perhaps it was because they had lived to a similar age and had compatible personalities, but Leon and Raynor got along very well. Raynor admired Leon's simple justice and kindness, while Leon also saw through Raynor's idealism beneath his unruly exterior.

“Yes, he is our leader,” Lyon replied. “He is the lord of mankind.”

"Alright, brother," Renault said with a smile, "after this is over, could you introduce me to your 'Lord of Humanity' so I can get a job too?"

"That's a question for Lord Elpis," Lyon said, bowing slightly to Elpis in apology. "I have no authority to decide."

"Sheriff Reynolds," Elpis said at the opportune moment, "I think that with your abilities, you are qualified to be the captain of my squad."

"Then it's a deal," Renault said. "I'll wait for you to keep your promise."

Indicator lights flashed inside the transport aircraft, emitting a crisp warning sound. They had landed on the landing platform of the Norard II. Behind them, the ship's hatches slowly closed, isolating outer space from the ship's interior.

As the Federation's most technologically advanced strategic cruiser, this behemoth-class warship is highly intelligent. There are no other people on the entire docking platform, only a few automated robots ready to tow the transport plane to the designated location.

"The maps and locations inside the ship have been marked," Loken shouted into the communication channel as soon as he stepped off the transport plane. "They've been synchronized with everyone."

At this moment, the oracle equipped by Locken had already completed scanning the entire flagship. Through comparison, they found that they were in the middle of the ship, while the command room was at the bow.

What they needed to do was simple: go through the entire keel of the flagship and then seize Norard II.

Nearly forty soldiers were quickly detected by the ship's monitoring system, and the information was instantly transmitted back to the command room.

Upon seeing these unfamiliar soldiers, General Duke immediately understood the situation: Commander Rugal had betrayed him, conspiring with Sheriff Reno to seize the transport plane he had dispatched, and now they were preparing to assassinate him.

"Soldiers, soldiers! Kill these traitors to the Federation!"

Enraged, General Duke immediately pressed the emergency button on the ship. The next moment, alarms blared throughout the ship, and warning lights in every compartment flashed red. Hundreds of armored Federal Marines rushed to intercept the enemy who had broken into the flagship.

The flagship's internal defenses also activated in response, with countless automatic machine guns popping out from the ceiling and floor, aiming at the intruders marked by the system.

The group had left the docking platform and entered the ship's Dragon Spine Corridor. Elpis led the way, with his squad members following on both sides.

Loken ran, his goggles already marking the automatic machine guns hidden in the shadows. He fired his explosive pistol continuously, each explosive round precisely destroying a machine gun.

Leon didn't dodge or evade, but instead rammed head-on into a Federation soldier who had just emerged from a side compartment. The heavy terracotta shoulder armor sent the Federation soldier flying three meters away, and a large dent appeared in the chest plate of his standard Federation power armor.

Chris was the same; the spiked bullets fired from the electromagnetic rifle and the bullets from the automatic machine gun could not break through his defenses at all.

Ada's movements were more elegant. With a quick dodge, she avoided the enemy's dense firepower, and then fired her explosive gun, accurately sending the explosive into the enemy's head, leaving a round hole in their glass mask.

Thirty elite warriors followed behind Renault and Rugal, at the very back of the column. They encountered virtually no significant attacks, only a few scattered Federation soldiers appearing from behind, but these posed little threat.

With four Federation soldiers falling and eight automatic machine guns becoming unusable, the group arrived at the end of the corridor, where a tightly closed alloy door stood blocking their way.

Behind that door was General Duke's command center.
