The Bizarre Adventure of the Warhammer Guard

The moon hung high in the sky, its cold light spilling into a damp alley. A golden-armored giant stood in the alley like a god.

Elpis had just removed his cloak, revealing the royal guard armor beneath.

Elpis, witnessing the scene before him, felt little but a palpable sadness in the air. He had seen far too much separation and death, far too much sacrifice.

From the sacrifices of mortals in the hive to the dedications on the golden throne, and even in countless worlds conquered by empires, such things happen all the time.

Sacrifice is the cornerstone of empire!

What Elpis has to do now is send them to the Golden Throne—as humans.

The armor, forged from gold and adorned with intricate patterns and carvings, resembled a work of art, instantly stunning Leon and Ada behind him.

"What are you going to do?" Leon asked.

Elpis did not answer Leon. He went to the father and daughter, slowly removed his helmet, and then raised the Spear of the Moon. With a thought, a strange silver-white energy flowed and gathered at the tip of the spear, aiming at the little girl's heart.

"God..." The little girl turned slightly, her eyes blankly looking at Elpis, as if she were praying for relief, or perhaps for forgiveness.

"May your souls return to the golden throne."

The silvery light from the spear tip pierced through, instantly shattering the little girl's heart. Then her body fell, splashing up the remaining water on the ground.

"I am not a god."

Elpis used the same method to deal with the little girl's father. The magical energy not only killed and destroyed their hearts, but also extinguished the virus within their bodies.

Elpis turned to Ida, gesturing for her to continue leading the way, then put on his helmet and cloak.

What a handsome, divine face it was! At just one glance, Leon and Ada were both stunned by Elpis's appearance. Combined with his golden armor, just standing there, he inspired an involuntary feeling of kneeling in worship, as if facing a god.

"Guard, are you... are you even human?" Leon blurted out unconsciously.

"It always has been."

"I want to find out the truth. No matter who's behind it, I'll stop them!" Leon seemed moved by the previous father and daughter, his tone resolute. "It's to help people like this, to help those in need, that's why I became a police officer."

"My mission is to completely dismantle the Umbrella Corporation," Ada began, glancing at Leon and then at Elpis, who had just donned his cloak. "Our goals are aligned."

"Leon, it's good to have a sense of justice, but," Elpiston paused, "you need to be prepared to face the truth. This universe isn't a place where humanity can survive on justice alone."

"If I come across you, I won't stand idly by." Leon's eyes were firm, then he asked, "Sir Guard, where exactly are you from?"

"There are countless planets in the universe," a faint crimson light shone through the goggles under Elpis's hood. "Once the mission is complete, I will tell you part of the truth."

Leon nodded helplessly and followed Ada toward the Umbrella Corporation's base.

Soon, Elpis and his two companions arrived at the Umbrella Corporation's underground base, "The Hive." Fortunately, the elevator leading to the underground base was large enough that Elpis could barely squeeze inside. In fact, the Umbrella Corporation's underground base was built beneath the police station, covering several nearby blocks and spanning a vast area.

The three of them are currently in Sector C, the largest area, which resembles an industrial manufacturing zone. The Umbrella Corporation's core secrets are in Sector A, but thankfully Ada knows the routes within the Hive.

On their way to Sector B, they encountered many zombies, including a special type of zombie known as the "Licker." These zombies lacked visual perception but had exceptionally keen hearing, and their primary attack methods were their giant claws and extremely long tongues.

Leon and Ada were the ones who dealt with most of the zombies, while Elpis observed their fighting performance from behind and occasionally offered some guidance.

As they walked down a corridor, they heard a roar that was different from that of ordinary zombies, which was slowly approaching them.

Finally, Leon saw the monster clearly. It was a human wearing a white coat, whose entire right side of its body had mutated, composed of flesh and bone. There was also a huge compound eye behind its right arm, and the fingers on its left hand had become long and sharp.

Its enormous right arm and thick right leg made the monster walk with a limp. Upon spotting a living person, it immediately hopped towards Leon on one leg.

"Watch out!" Ada, who was standing not far behind Leon, quickly warned him and immediately drew her gun to attack the monster's head.

Seeing the monster lunging at him, Leon rolled forward to dodge the attack. He then immediately turned, drew his gun, and fired at the monster's exposed right arm compound eye, which hadn't yet turned around.

The monster, in pain, hurriedly turned around, only to find itself exposed to Ada's gun again.

"Roar!" The monster roared loudly as it was hit in the eyes repeatedly, turning its body to protect its weak points from being attacked.

"Ada, cover me!" Leon shouted as he saw the monster being pushed back and covering its head with its hands.

Leon pulled out a grenade, pulled the pin, held it for a few seconds, and then threw it at the monster. With a loud "boom," the grenade exploded above the monster's head.

The immense power caused the monster immense pain, its entire body engulfed in flames, and its hands thrashed about incessantly. Then, a strange change occurred: the monster's body, which had previously only retained half a human form, began to writhe, constantly releasing a blood-red substance that then darkened, gradually forming the grotesque shape that resembled its original right half.

Now this thing has completely transformed into a monster. The burning flames have been extinguished, and its previously exposed compound eyes are now covered and protected by flesh and blood. It walks step by step toward Leon.

Leon pulled out his shotgun and fired at the monster's head, once, twice. The monster wasn't seriously damaged, but its advance was slightly slowed.

Taking advantage of the moment when Leon was reloading, the monster swung forward. Leon barely dodged the attack, but the monster swung back and slammed him against the wall.

Ada's grenade exploded on the monster at that moment. The force of the explosion only caused the monster to stagger forward, but it effectively drew its attention. It seems the mutated creature's intelligence is somewhat diminished.

Leon painfully got up, clutching his chest. Seeing the monster attack Ada, he took a breath, suppressed his injuries, and joined Ada in the attack.

With a few grenades exploding, the monster's massive compound eye, which it had been protecting, was breached. Leon rolled behind the monster, stood next to Ada, and the two opened fire with their shotguns, spraying the monster's weak point.

Finally, the monster could not withstand the attack of modern firearms, roared, and fell to the ground motionless.
