Hell has invaded, but my Hextech is invincible!

Chapter 53 From Apocalyptic Survival to Mass Evacuation

Hex rubbed his throbbing head and looked around.

This is an underground vault of about fifty square meters, with smooth cement walls all around and no superfluous decorations. In the center of the vault stands a high platform, on which are stacks of British pound banknotes and a considerable amount of gold.

"Where is the ceremony?" Hex asked, puzzled.

Inessa put down the letter, interlaced her fingers again, and devoutly recited the prayer aloud.

A holy light emanated from her and enveloped the entire vault.

A hissing sound filled the air, and the emergency lights overhead flickered, suddenly turning an eerie, ghostly green.

On the originally smooth stone wall, a large number of blasphemous runes, inverted six-pointed stars, the Hanged Man pattern, and large areas of unrecognizable demonic script appeared out of thin air.

Hex said, "What's in the letter is true."

"The Adventists are holding a supplementary ritual to hasten the arrival of the Gates of Hell."

Inessa intensified her prayers, and the holy light shone even brighter.

The evil runes on the wall sizzled as they were gradually melted away by the holy light, eventually dissipating completely into the air.

At that moment, the emergency lights overhead suddenly shattered, plunging the vault into complete darkness.

"We've destroyed this node," Inessa's voice echoed in the darkness.

"It's destroyed, but it's useless," Hextech said helplessly.

"There are five other similar nodes in this city."

"We have no intelligence right now, and we don't know where to look."

"Besides, there are countless monsters outside."

"Even if it could be done, it would only delay the arrival of the gates of hell."

The letter clearly stated that Calodos considered him a mortal enemy and was about to descend upon him in person.

Kalodos, who was originally just a background character in the game, will definitely come looking for revenge as soon as he appears this time.

Being targeted by a Demon Lord sent chills down Hextech's spine. In the mortal realm, he could use his Guardian Relic to mock others, but within the Gates of Hell, which resembled Hell itself, the difference between him and a Demon Lord was like heaven and earth.

"I must stop them," Inessa said with absolute certainty.

"My life or death is irrelevant."

"But once the gates of hell are fully opened, Manchester will perish."

"The church is definitely organizing the evacuation of the entire city now, and I need to buy time for the evacuation."

Knowing when to give up and when to sacrifice, Hextech truly saw the shadow of a mature decision-maker in Inessa.

However, Hextech doesn't want to die yet.

"Whatever we do, let's find an exit first," Hex said.

The mission has now become a seven-day survival plan for the apocalypse, and a million-person evacuation.

Inessa said, "The vault was never supposed to have a second exit."

"We can go through the main gate."

"So here's the question." Hex stroked his chin.

"Those hellhounds were clearly targeting us."

"Moreover, the Demon Lord also discovered our location through this letter."

"Do you really think this so-called safe house can still be considered safe?"

as predicted.

Hex had barely finished speaking when several violent impacts came from the doorway. A deafening crash followed as a tremendous force slammed into the steel door, causing it to tremble violently and causing limestone from the underground space to fall in a shower.

Good heavens, these monsters don't give them a single chance to breathe.

Hextech's brow furrowed more and more.

There was only one entrance, but outside lay an endless tide of demons. He didn't believe he could withstand it all. If more than a hundred demons arrived at once, he would be terrified.

His eyes scanned the surroundings, the floor, the walls... and then he suddenly looked up.

A concealed ventilation duct suddenly appeared on the ceiling.

"We can go through the ventilation ducts!" Hex said.

Inessa suddenly realized: "Right, why didn't I think of that!"

Without a word, she leaped onto the central platform, ripped off the ceiling grille, and dust flew everywhere. Inessa then climbed inside.

"You can come in, Hextech, come on up!"

Hextech leaped forward, only to find himself stuck.

He was too tall and had too broad shoulders, and got stuck at the bend in the ventilation duct, unable to move. Left with no other option, he had to jump back to the ground.

At this moment, the steel door had been smashed and was uneven, and outside the door, it was clear that powerful monsters were frantically ramming against it.

All sorts of sharp roars came in, as they were eager to break open the "can" and have a feast.

Hex leaped up again, this time placing his hands behind his back and slowly squeezing into the ventilation duct by inching along with his shoulders.

Inessa turned to look at him from the front.

"If we keep going forward, we should be able to reach the exit on the surface."

Hextech could only move with difficulty from behind.

To be fair, this ventilation duct is not narrow at all; in fact, it is quite wide. Not to mention children, even an average adult could easily do somersaults inside it.

"Don't you guys take any precautions for the ventilation ducts?" Hex asked, puzzled.

Inessa looked bewildered: "Why do we have to?"

"Could someone have crawled into the underground vault through the ventilation ducts?"

Hex was speechless for a moment.

He then realized that there was no North America in this world, and no Ram, the saintly teacher of bank robbery, nor a corresponding approach of designing an ABC plan based on a blueprint.

Most bank robberies involve brute force, armed men charging in; no one would bother sneaking in through the ventilation ducts. Normally, the ventilation duct vents are guarded and even blessed, but now they're long gone.

As he was lost in thought, "thump," his face bumped into something soft.

He abruptly took two steps back, realizing what had happened in an instant.

Inessa looked both embarrassed and annoyed.

She was wearing a tattered nun's habit and hurriedly covered her buttocks.

He had been distracted and had buried his head in her buttocks.

Hex declared righteously, "Sister Inessa, move forward!"

"They might have already broken in. Why did you suddenly stop?"

It's always better to blame the other person first than to embarrass yourself.

Inessa was also extremely embarrassed and quickly composed herself, saying, "I'm sorry."

There are two forks in the road ahead, and I'm trying to figure out which one to take.

Hextech said, "Any way will do, let's get out first!"

Inessa nodded and continued crawling forward.

This ventilation duct has never been cleaned since it was built. Every time the two of them moved, dust flew everywhere, making it almost like they were swimming in dust, leaving them covered in dirt.

Hextech's keen ears had already heard the sound of the steel gate being smashed open, followed by the roars and gnawing sounds of monsters.

Surprisingly, the monsters did not discover the two people hiding in the ventilation duct.

Perhaps, the thick layer of dust has obscured their presence.

Inessa led the way, while Hex crawled laboriously behind. It took them more than ten minutes to finally climb out of the ventilation duct.

The two stood disheveled on the street behind the bank, as hordes of monsters poured into the bank building.

"Go that way," Hex pointed to the side.

It was a very ordinary residential apartment building.

"Where are we going?" Inessa asked, puzzled.

"Look at those broken windows," Hex said, pointing to the apartment.

"The clean water was lost, so I can't perform the purification ritual."

"That's an apartment building, and there must be a water tower on top of it."

Inessa nodded, and the two of them immediately rushed into the apartment building, carefully making their way up the stairs.

As soon as they reached the top floor, the sight before them made their hearts clench.

Along the way, a large amount of blood flowed down the stair steps, almost covering the entire corridor, making every step sticky and unpleasant.

Human remains, limbs and torsos, can be seen everywhere, scattered about.

Clearly, after the gates of hell opened, many civilians instinctively tried to escape, only to be blocked by the monsters that broke into the apartment.

And so, they were all slaughtered.
