Hell has invaded, but my Hextech is invincible!
Chapter 14 Slum Battle
More and more gangsters joined the manhunt.
Even though Hextech had Grace, a local native, to guide them, the other side was also a local gang and knew the streets and alleys of this slum like the back of their hand.
Grace took Hex's hand, and the three of them walked through the stinking, rat-infested alleyway until they finally reached the main street.
After rushing out of the slums, Hex took a deep breath and then smelled an even more unbearable stench.
What was called a main street was actually just a potholed cinder road, covered in oil and coal dust. The passersby were covered in dirt, their faces pale and thin. Many "people" were huddled in the corners of the street, barely alive, a scene of utter despair from the slums of the poor.
In the game, these scenes are nothing more than exquisite art illustrations.
Even if the drawing is tragic, there's still a screen between you and it, so there's not much of a real sense of immersion.
But now that Hextech was truly standing here, looking at everything before him, he felt a suffocating sensation wash over him.
This is not a city at all, but a giant prison, a purgatory that constantly strangles civilians.
Almost everyone was lifeless. A few people who were dressed reasonably well walked hurriedly, while most were poorly clothed and so thin that they were just skin and bones, as if they would collapse and die on the roadside at any moment.
Rats the size of kittens squatted at the feet of the lying people, their eyes bloodshot and showing no fear of humans. They were clearly waiting for someone to fall so they could have a good meal.
Of course, the people here were unaware that an even greater disaster was about to erupt.
"The river is just ahead," Grace pointed.
Hextech took a closer look and his expression changed instantly.
This isn't a river; it's clearly a stinking ditch.
The water was murky, covered with garbage, and had a pungent stench.
Several bloated corpses floated on the water, forming a giant spectacle, and were crawling with flies.
Not far away, civilians were scooping water to cook and wash clothes, completely oblivious to the rotting corpses just five or six meters away.
Although he wasn't a germaphobe, Hex still couldn't help but gag.
"Mr. Horus, are we really going to travel by water?" Grace asked cautiously.
Hextech's lips twitched. Even Nezha couldn't drink that soup; he'd rather die than jump in.
At this moment, Hex saw four or five small boats moored on the river, with a machine gun erected in front of each boat.
Moreover, more than a dozen gangs had set up a lot of nets along the river.
This was clearly to prevent him from leaving by water.
That's just like Ada's style. Last time she jumped off the bridge to escape, she was definitely prepared. Now she's even laid down a net to block the waterways.
It is conceivable that the entire slum has been completely ensnared.
At this moment, another group of gangsters arrived at both ends of the street and began to clear out the poor people along the way one by one.
Clearly, they were starting to close in.
"Are there any other routes?" Hex looked at Grace.
Grace shook her head: "We have no choice but to go back and hide."
To be honest, if Hextech hadn't been with two girls, he could have easily fought his way out on his own.
But Emily is his teammate, and Grace is the target of his mission; neither of these girls can afford to get hurt.
Looking around, the gang was constantly searching outwards, and it was clear that this net of capture was gradually forcing them into a corner.
Once completely trapped, Hextech was almost certain that the dangerous woman would show up to protect him when the time was right.
Since we can't escape, we might as well break free from this trap.
After all, he is a "megalodon" with the body of a Goliath and an astral plane.
...............................
"Boss, we've been searching for so long, could those three have already escaped?"
A minor leader of the Kunk gang led a group of henchmen, searching house to house in the dirty, narrow alleyways.
"Run? What can he run with? The whole gang is looking for him now," the gang leader snapped irritably.
He was enjoying himself with women in a brothel when his boss suddenly dragged him out of his boudoir, saying he needed to investigate three key figures.
Let's find someone then.
What puzzled him even more was that this mission had actually stirred up the three major gangs in the lower city.
They are the Quink Gang, their mortal enemy the Corland family, and the Dockside Alliance.
The three gangs fought tooth and nail for territory and profit, resulting in countless deaths. They were mortal enemies who could not escape each other's wrath.
But this time, under an even stronger will, they united as one to carry out the same mission.
He was filled with resentment, but he had no choice but to do as he was told.
After all, this was an order from a high-ranking figure even higher than his boss's boss, and as a mere underling, he had no room to resist.
Just around the corner, a group of members of the Corland family were questioning an old woman.
The old woman pleaded incessantly, but was roughly pushed away by Koland's men.
"Hey, what are you doing?" the Kunk gang leader sneered.
"Look at them, when they can't find anyone, all they do is bully the old and weak."
A gangster wearing a black trench coat and a felt hat turned around and sneered.
"Who do we have here? It's Eight-Finger Vic."
"Why aren't you relaxing at the tavern? Why are you pretending to be a good guy here?"
Upon hearing the nickname "Eight Fingers," Vic's expression instantly turned cold.
"Anker, did the ribs I broke last time heal so quickly?"
Anker sneered, "Then your two fingers that were chopped off won't grow back."
"Eight fingers don't seem to have stopped me from firing," Vic said through gritted teeth.
In just two short sentences, the two sides instantly became extremely tense.
Vic of the Quink gang and Ankerna of the Corland family were both minor leaders in their respective gangs and were mortal enemies. They had fought more than a dozen fierce battles over territory and business, losing many brothers and leaving indelible scars on each other.
"What, you want to ruin the bosses' plans?" Anker sneered.
"If you're not afraid of the Blood Eagle Punishment, I don't mind settling old scores with you here."
"Then let's settle the score!"
Vic drew his pistol, and Anker immediately raised his rifle. However, both were hesitant and did not fire.
Just then, a gunshot rang out.
One of the henchmen fell backward to the ground, blood seeping from his chest, his eyes wide open in anger, dying with his eyes still open.
"Who? Who fired the shot?"
Vic turned around and roared, but his henchmen all shook their heads, indicating that they hadn't fired the shot.
But Ankerna of the Corland family didn't believe it at all, and shouted angrily, "Despicable!"
He raised his hand and fired a shot, hitting one of Vic's henchmen.
The two sides instantly erupted into chaos. The underlings ignored all prohibitions and immediately began firing at each other. Bullets flew wildly through the alley, and one gangster after another fell to the ground.
The gunshots quickly attracted more gang members to the scene.
Before the arriving people could even figure out what was happening, they were shot and fell to the ground one after another.
Most of the gangsters were completely bewildered. When they rushed over, they only saw the other side firing shots and instinctively returned fire.
The three gangs were mixed together, making it impossible to distinguish friend from foe. They assumed that the other side had struck first, and the melee was completely inexplicable.
However, no one noticed that the gang leaders who tried to stop the chaos would inexplicably stiffen and then have their skulls blown off by a gunshot.
An unseen person is making this chaos worse!
