Chapter 106 Preparing to Set Off (4/4)

The next morning, sunlight streamed in through the window.

Hex rubbed his temples.

He returned to the Adelia family last night.

Those relatives who had mocked and ridiculed him, even trying to steal his seminary recommendation spot, greeted him with beaming smiles and utter obsequiousness when they saw him again.

They used all the flattery the nobles were good at, adopting a humble attitude, so even if Hex was dissatisfied, he couldn't show it in public.

Everyone took turns going up to offer a toast.

Hextech's physical abilities are a hundred times better than those of ordinary soldiers, so drinking alcohol is nothing to him.

He accepted all comers and drank all the relatives who tried to curry favor with him until he was completely drunk before returning to his room with a clear head.

Of course, he was willing to participate for two reasons: firstly, one can't hit a smiling face; secondly, he had his eyes opened yesterday and had to admit that the nobles of this world really knew how to have fun.

Awesome!

Perhaps because he had put an end to a matter on his mind and done what he needed to do, he slept exceptionally soundly that night.

Of course, Hextech wasn't unsuspecting. The United Front's reinforced soldiers had secretly taken control of the entire Adelia mansion.

He can react instantly to even the slightest disturbance.

However, the night remained peaceful.

He got up, changed his clothes, and walked straight out of the mansion.

Adelia's relatives were asleep, and standing at the door to see Hex off were Kelwyn and his son, Anreid.

Unexpectedly, another person was standing nearby, Mary Adelia.

She is Karls Adelya's biological mother.

She was dressed in a black dress, and a bit more color returned to her pale face. The resentment and sorrow that had filled her face were gone; instead, a vibrant energy shone through.

Seeing Hex emerge, Andrei quickly stepped forward.

"Everyone is still resting, and we're here to see you off."

Hextech nodded slightly.

Kyle Wright glanced at him and handed him an old-fashioned, heavy cross-shaped sword.

"This is the sword I carried on the Crimean battlefield, which has been with me for forty years."

"It accompanied me as I personally slew thirty-five demons and one hundred and twenty-one heretics."

"While it can't be considered a sacred object, it's just an ordinary standard-issue sword."

"But I hope you will accept it."

"I hope it will witness your legend in the future."

Kellett had so much to say, but in the end, it all boiled down to a single word of advice.

May you live up to your own expectations.

Although the old man's cloudy eyes held expectation and emotion, Hex knew that taking it over would entangle him with the Adelia family.

He shook his head: "I'm not good with a sword."

Hextech no longer wants to have anything to do with the Adelia family.

Kelley sighed, but her sigh was filled with barely concealed regret.

"That's fine too."

"You are destined to be an eagle."

He regretted that Hextech was not Adelia's biological son, and even more so that the family would never have a suitable successor.

At this moment, Mary suddenly spoke, her voice gentle yet solemn.

"Thank you, Mr. Hex."

"I was wrong to speak harshly to you before, and I apologize."

Hex shook his head: "I won't argue with a mother who has lost her child."

A look of nostalgia flashed in Mary's eyes as she slowly spoke.

"Knowing the whole truth about Karl's death, I'm no longer in so much pain."

"He died upholding his beliefs and doctrines, and he died a worthy death."

"I think when he passed away, besides the regret of not being able to solve the case, he was at peace."

"Now his regrets are over, the real culprit has been brought to justice, and he must be feeling fortunate."

"Because you fulfilled his unfinished wish."

Mary reached out and handed her a piece of clothing.

"This is the seminary uniform I sewed for him by hand; he will never need it again."

"I've altered the size so it should fit your figure perfectly. I hope you'll accept it."

"This has nothing to do with Adelia; it's just a mother's final gratitude."

Hex thought for a moment, then took the money and thanked her, saying, "Thank you, Mrs. Adelia."

"I also happen to be missing a piece of clothing."

Mary's eyes reddened slightly. She took a step back and said no more.

"Let's go."

Then Andrei led Hex to the main gate of the mansion.

However, next to Adelia's convertible was a luxury car engraved with a cross.

Only clergy members of the church are qualified to use the symbol of the cross in this world.

A boy stood beside the car, seemingly having waited for him for a long time.

"Newt?" Hex looked at the boy and asked in confusion, "What are you doing here?"

Newt forced a smile.

"Hex, we're classmates, and I'm also going to London to study."

"Have you forgotten? I said we'd set off together, and that we'd keep each other company."

"Hex, why don't you come with me on my private jet to London?"

special plane?

Hex was slightly surprised. Newt's family background was indeed very wealthy; after all, he was the heir to the Intair family, a top-tier church noble family.

Newt's position in Birmingham is similar to that of the Rothschilds in Newcastle.

He had originally planned to travel to London by train, but having a private plane made things much easier.

Both Kyle Wright and Andre held Newt in high esteem.

"Then I'll have to trouble you, Young Master Newt," said Kyle Wright.

Hex noticed that Newt wasn't talking as much as before, but he didn't think much of it and got into the car.

The driver stepped on the gas, and the car sped straight toward the north of the city.

"Why are you driving so fast?"

Hextech sensed something was wrong and looked at Newt beside him, whose face was pale and who was unusually talkative. "You're not normal."

Newt smiled wryly and said, "You've accomplished something truly remarkable."

"The whole city is talking about this, so of course I know."

"You publicly tried Rothschild!"

Newt hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but stopped himself.

"This matter has had a huge impact."

"What exactly are you trying to say?" Hex glanced at him.

"Do you really think that the top noble families of the Church can be easily shaken?" Newt asked in a low voice.

"My enemy is not Tuttle, but the Rothschilds," Hex said.

"You believe he is innocent?"

"No, Rothschild committed heinous crimes; he is a disgrace to the entire church."

After saying that, Newt turned to look out the window and fell silent, saying no more.

Hextech didn't bother with it and closed his eyes to rest.

The car traveled very fast and arrived at the North City Airport in just over ten minutes.

A passenger plane was already parked on the runway, ready to take off at any time.

Newt took Hex's luggage and quickly boarded the plane.

Hextech, left with no other option, followed suit.

Before he could even settle in, the plane began gliding rapidly down the runway and soaring into the sky.

Newt only breathed a slight sigh of relief after the plane took off smoothly.

Hextech noticed his preoccupied expression and asked, "What's bothering you?"

"Are they worried about retaliation from the Tuttle family?"

Newt bit his lip, but finally shook his head: "It's nothing."

Hextech frowned, increasingly sensing that something was amiss.

"Let's be frank, I don't want any unnecessary calculations between us."

Newt shook his head: "I'll tell you when we get to our destination!"

Another riddle teller!

Hex got up, walked to the window, and looked out.

The plane has already climbed to an altitude of several hundred meters and is still climbing.

But the flight direction is wrong!

"London is southeast of Newcastle, and we're flying north now," Hex asked, turning his head.

"Where do you want to take me?"

Hextech's gaze gradually sharpened and turned cold.

"You did this for the Rothschilds?"

"Of course not!" Newt said.

"I did this just to save your life, Hex."

"Save my life?" Hex frowned. "You mean, the Tuttle family is sending someone to assassinate me?"

"It wasn't an assassination, it was extermination."

Newt said gravely, "You and Bishop Tyrion have greatly underestimated the resources of the Tuttle family, and also greatly underestimated Muller Tuttle's ruthless determination."

"He's not the kind of bishop who can tolerate failure and setbacks!"

"His revenge has come!"

"You should leave quickly and head to Ireland!"

Hextech was about to say something when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw sparks erupting on the ground.

He turned around and his expression changed drastically!

Just then, a black dagger pierced his back.

Blood splattered everywhere!
