Starting with the goblin extermination
Chapter 11 Harvest
The next morning, before the morning mist in the Hecatetus Mountains had completely dissipated, Logan and his group had already set off on their way back to Riverwood.
After a resounding victory and a night's rest, the atmosphere in the team was exceptionally relaxed.
Papa and Baron chattered incessantly along the way, their excitement overflowing, as they circled the bag full of their spoils.
Happiness is contagious, and Logan's tense nerves, which had been strained from lack of sleep, relaxed as well.
He patted the goblin's ears in the bag, and a smile unconsciously crept onto his lips.
Finally, I'm back on the familiar streets.
The Adventurers' Guild was still bustling with activity.
The old dwarf Thorin greeted familiar faces in the guild with practiced ease. To him, this was just another routine raiding mission, something he was already used to.
Elsa remained unnoticed, her face buried in her gray cloak, saying nothing.
Thorin led the group to a window in the guild to hand in the quest.
"Black Iron level, Goblin camp raid, no casualties."
Behind the window, the half-elf salesman's fingers flew across the screen, moving back and forth beneath the unseen counter, glowing with blue light, as he muttered a few incomprehensible words.
Logan couldn't see what was going on inside.
Perhaps it's being recorded using magic.
This is not surprising. After all, the Adventurers' Guild has its reach across the entire continent, and the results of every adventurer's mission are meticulously recorded by the guild.
This isn't just about the bounty; it's also about the adventurer's resume. Recording and updating so much information can't be done with just pen and paper.
While taking notes, the salesperson casually remarked, "Well done. If you can complete a level 1 monster-slaying quest and become a professional, the guild will further assess your strength and allow you to take on the assessment quest to advance to Bronze-level adventurer."
"Don't try to fool newcomers with that kind of talk," Thorin said, scoffing.
To defeat a monster with a challenge level of 1? And you have to become a professional?
Logan glanced at Thorin, wondering how long this powerful old dwarf had been stuck at this level, but it certainly wasn't as easy as it sounded.
But none of that matters now.
Next up is Logan's favorite part—
Bounty settlement.
"Six ordinary goblins, your personal bounty is 12 silver coins. The giant goblin was a shared target, and according to the ratio you agreed upon, you will receive 6 silver coins and 66 copper coins. Mr. Logan, your total bounty for this hunt is 1 gold coin, 8 silver coins, and 66 copper coins."
A gleaming gold coin, along with several silver coins and copper coins, was pushed in front of Logan.
Logan resisted the urge to take a bite of the gold coins and pushed them into his purse.
He's struck it rich; those three words are all he can think about right now.
Following that, Thorin submitted information about the address of the attacked caravan's cargo and other details.
The guild immediately offered a generous reward of 2 gold coins.
But that's not all; the real kicker is yet to come.
Leaving the guild, Thorin led them into a somewhat dirty and messy alley and pushed open the door of a shop that specialized in recycling second-hand equipment and loot.
A wooden sign was hanging on the door—
Gru's scrap metal
Logan had seen it in the manual.
The shopkeeper was a half-orc who was blind in one eye.
Upon seeing Thorin enter, the orc grinned, baring his fangs and bowing. The two men pounded each other's chests like bulls, which was their way of greeting each other.
The transaction was quick. The orc rubbed the weapons the group had brought, looked at the gems, and then gave a price.
In the end, the seven rusty goblin short swords and two shortbows were sold as a package for 10 silver coins. The large goblin's spiked club, in good condition, actually sold for 1 gold coin. And the two sapphires were exchanged for a full two gold coins.
In addition, there was a money bag found in the goblin camp.
A total of 4 gold coins, 5 silver coins, and 50 copper coins.
They then went to another herbal shop in town called "Bird in the Forest" to deal with the stinking goblin head.
The owner of the herbal shop was a woman named Adele Tifflin.
This was Logan's first time seeing Tifflin, and he couldn't help but take a few more glances.
Mmm, it's very moisturizing.
It has dark red skin, delicate curved horns on both sides of its forehead, plump and fleshy thighs, and a slender tail that sways back and forth in mid-air.
"Hey, isn't this Papa? Where have you been gallivanting off to with Baron again?"
Baron, lowering his voice, whispered gossip into Logan's ear, "Don't let Adele's current business fool you; she used to be a formidable adventurer, and apparently a mage who could cast fireballs!"
Seemingly having heard Barron's mutterings, Adele's narrow eyes turned around, her gaze unsurprisingly first landing on Logan's striking blond hair, then settling on his face.
A playful smile curved her lips, and in front of everyone, she winked at Logan.
Logan's eye twitched, and he looked away from Thorin's meaningful, suppressed laughter.
The goblin's head was well-preserved and was eventually bought by Adele for a high price of 2 gold coins, which she used to brew some kind of potion.
At this point, all the spoils have been converted into cash.
The team's shared earnings have reached 8 gold coins, 5 silver coins, and 50 copper coins!
"The five of us will split it equally. Each person will receive 1 gold coin, 7 silver coins, and 10 copper coins!"
When Thorin handed the money to Logan, the purse swelled up for the first time in a long time.
Including the previous bounty, his total earnings from this trip reached 3 gold coins, 5 silver coins, and 76 copper coins.
They made a fortune.
Logan reached into his heavy money bag, and two gold coins slipped through his fingers.
How many silver coins can one person earn in a day by killing slimes? In just one day, Logan's income has increased more than tenfold.
We still have to team up to kill goblins.
If Logan were alone, let alone defeating the giant goblin, those dozen or so ordinary goblins would tear him to shreds. But with other team members present, the deadly danger becomes a manageable risk.
It is efficient, profitable, and has a high tolerance for error.
It seems that we can continue our long-term cooperation with Thorin and his group.
"The mission is over, and everyone has money in their pockets."
Thorin waved his hand generously, "Let's go! To the Sleeping Dragon Tavern! It's my treat for the first round today!"
The crowd cheered excitedly, but Elsa, who had been silent all along, stopped in her tracks.
"I'm not going."
She maintained her icy tone. She offered no further explanation, simply bowing slightly to the crowd.
Then he turned and disappeared into the bustling street.
"Let her be; all vagrants have that foul temper."
Sorin didn't care and led the remaining three straight to the tavern.
The tavern was still bustling with smoke and noise. Owner Vante was still sitting at the counter looking at the ledger, only glancing up briefly when Thorin came in.
Thorin skillfully found a table and loudly ordered several large glasses of strong ale and a large plate of roast meat.
"Cheers!"
The four wooden cups collided heavily together, splashing wine everywhere.
After a few drinks, the conversation naturally shifted from yesterday's battle to future plans.
As Logan listened to Papa and Baron excitedly planning what equipment they would get, his thoughts drifted away.
He thought of his father, whose fate was unknown, and the joy of the harvest faded.
Although he had awakened his memories of his past life, Logan knew that the family ties of those sixteen years and the snowstorms on his escape route were real. He couldn't, and didn't want to, sever all ties with the past.
I must become stronger, survive, and then fight my way back.
The most urgent task is to become a professional.
