Chapter 7 Debt Collection

"Yueyao, I heard that Xu Menghan is coming to Yanjiang to hold a concert soon. I wonder if you're interested?"

"Xu Menghan?" Jiang Yueyao finally looked up, a hint of interest on her face. "Her tickets are incredibly hard to get. Do you have any connections?"

"Haha, I have a friend who works inside the company, he's got connections. Don't worry, I guarantee I'll get you one!"

Chen Jun thumped his chest loudly, but he felt incredibly guilty—he had no connections whatsoever; he was simply trying to use the opportunity to get closer to Chen Jun.

Jiang Yueyao hesitated for a moment. Xu Menghan was one of her favorite singers, and she had always wanted to go to her concert, but tickets were so hard to get. She had tried several times but hadn't managed to get any.

She paused for a moment, then finally said, "Well... thank you for your help. Just tell me what expenses you need, and I'll reimburse you double."

"No need, no need, it's nothing to me." Chen Jun was overjoyed and was about to press his advantage when he suddenly heard a gloomy voice coming from outside the door.

Who is Chen Jun?

Chen Jun turned his head and saw a bald, burly man standing at the door of the private room. His expression immediately changed.

The burly man's gaze swept across the private room, lingering briefly on Xu Yuan's face before precisely locking onto Chen Jun, without even sparing the two girls present a second glance.

Chen Jun instinctively lowered his head, but knowing he couldn't avoid being stared at by everyone in the room, he could only grit his teeth and stand up: "I am."

"Are you Chen Jun?"

The burly man took a drag of his cigarette and was about to speak, but after glancing at the other people in the private room, he hesitated for a moment and then suddenly said, "Wait a minute."

"Huh?" Chen Jun stood there dumbfounded, at a loss for what to do.

The big man ignored him completely, turned around and left. Xu Yuan's gaze involuntarily followed him. The big bald head shone even brighter under the corridor lights, as if it had been waxed.

The bald, burly man reappeared after a while, but the cigarette in his hand was gone.

"Chen Jun, right?" The bald, burly man's expression immediately changed as he entered, a forced smile on his face. "You've been hiding well, haven't you? It was really hard to find you. Sixth Master asked me to ask you when you're going to pay back that debt you owe him?"

"Sixth Master?" Chen Jun paused for a moment, seemingly confused, but before he could think further, he quickly interrupted the burly man, "Let's talk outside. Don't disturb my classmate."

As she spoke, she reached out and grabbed the big man's arm, trying to pull him away.

"Classmate? I didn't realize," the burly man said, scratching his head with surprise. "A piece of trash like you is actually a college student?"

Chen Jun's face flushed red. He glanced at the tall, burly man, not daring to argue, and simply pushed him, saying, "Let's go outside and talk..."

"Go outside to talk? You think you'll pay me back if you go outside?" The burly man shoved Chen Jun, who staggered backward. "Don't you know how long you've owed this debt?"

Li Da muttered to himself, "I knew it. So he owes money to someone. No wonder he's been borrowing money from others lately."

Although Li Da's voice wasn't loud, everyone in the room could hear it clearly, and their gazes towards Chen Jun changed somewhat.

Jiang Yueyao seemed to understand something, and her gaze towards Chen Jun gradually turned cold.

Feeling ashamed under everyone's gaze, Chen Jun snapped, "Why did you say those things in front of them?"

The burly man sneered, deliberately raising his voice: "You dare to do something like this, and you're afraid of what others will say? The kind of scum I despise most is someone like you!"

Seeing this, Chen Jun decided to throw caution to the wind: "You've exposed my privacy, I'm not paying you back! You wait, I'm going to sue you!"

"Sue us? Go ahead and sue us then." The burly man chuckled dismissively. "But if you're trying to renege on your debt, you're not getting a chance!"

As she spoke, she prepared to hold Chen Jun down, intending to take him out of the private room.

Seeing the burly man's sinister grin, Chen Jun knew he was likely to suffer a terrible fate in the man's hands, and his face turned pale.

Before the burly man even touched him, he had already let out a pig-like scream: "Help! Help!"

Even more outrageous, the next second, he lay down on the ground and started rolling around like a mad dog, not letting anyone near him.

"You think throwing a tantrum will work?"

The burly man sneered, dismissing such a petty trick, and raised his hand to beckon his underlings forward.

Everyone was bewildered by what they saw. They looked at each other, completely at a loss for what to do.

"Please wait a moment."

Xu Yuan glanced at Zhao Ze's empty seat, sighed inwardly, and finally stepped forward.

All eyes immediately fell on Xu Yuan.

"Oh?" The burly man glanced at Xu Yuan. "You want to stand up for him?"

Xu Yuan shook his head: "It's only right to pay back debts, I understand that principle."

"So what do you mean?"

"It's like this, we're still students, and it's rare for us to get together like this. It's really not a good look," Xu Yuan said sincerely. "Besides, there are girls here, and what you're doing could easily scare them away."

The burly man thought for a moment, then surprisingly nodded: "That makes sense."

Xu Yuan was surprised that the Han man was so understanding, and looked at him with astonishment before continuing:

"And after all that talk, all we've heard is that Chen Jun owes money, but how much, and why? We need to know for sure!"

He wasn't particularly close to Chen Jun; he only knew that Chen Jun wasn't very reliable in his daily life, but he didn't know how the debt came about.

Whether they truly owe money or have been scammed is still unclear.

Regardless, as roommates, he didn't want to watch someone drag him away before things were cleared up.

In addition, today's game was Zhao Ze's team, and the two girls were invited by Zhao Ze because of him. As a result, they encountered this kind of thing as soon as they arrived, and everyone was embarrassed.

The burly man walked up to Xu Yuan and looked him over with interest: "What you say makes sense. I always do things the way you say, so I'll do it your way."

As he spoke, he glanced at Chen Jun, who was still rolling on the ground, and asked, "So, are you going to say it, or should I say it for you?"

Chen Jun froze.

After a moment, he sat up with a pale face, head down, his voice hoarse and strained: "I...I owe 100,000 yuan."

The burly man, who had been looking at him with a sneer, changed his expression slightly upon hearing this. He glanced at his henchman beside him, who also shook his head blankly.

The burly man looked puzzled and muttered under his breath, "One hundred thousand yuan?"

Chen Jun, however, didn't notice the big man's reaction at all, and continued talking to himself: "I just saw some money-making games online. At first, I was just curious and wanted to earn some pocket money, but I got hooked and started playing more and more."

"I thought I could stop, I thought I could win some back, but... I lost all my money, and then I borrowed another 100,000 yuan from the platform, but... that was gone too."

"I didn't really want to gamble... I was just scammed by that platform... Waaah..." Chen Jun covered his face, his voice hoarse and strained, and he even started to cry as he spoke.

The gazes of everyone in the room changed completely. If someone had an urgent matter and owed money, people could understand to some extent, but going to gamble was a different matter altogether.

Xu Yuan looked at Chen Jun, who was crying bitterly, and sighed in his heart, but felt no sympathy. After all, gambling addicts never have a good end.

He looked at the big man, about to say something, but saw the man scratch his head in surprise and wave his hand, saying, "Wait a minute, stop crying, let me sort this out."

The burly man pulled out his phone, frowned as he checked it for a while, then looked at Chen Jun with a puzzled expression: "You owe 100,000 yuan?"

Chen Jun nodded.

"Because of online gambling?"

Chen Jun continued to nod.

"While you are indeed a scoundrel," the bald man said in a slightly cryptic tone, "the debt we're set for you isn't this."
