Chapter 32 Vocal Music

Land in the eastern suburbs of Qingwu City.

This is the divine title bestowed upon Qingmin by Heaven and Earth.

Lin Shu entered the temple and his gaze fell on the tablet in front of the deity statue, where he saw these words clearly engraved.

In the center of the temple, there is a prayer mat.

Pilgrims hold three sticks of incense, kneel and kowtow, and pray devoutly.

Most of the visitors were dressed in blue robes and black sashes, wearing silk shoes and coarse linen clothes, clearly from moderately wealthy families.

Lin Shu surveyed the local temple, understood the situation, then turned and left the temple to inspect the lives of the villagers in Fukang and observe the growth of the phoenix trees in the village.

After daybreak, we settled into an inn in the village.

This shop is well-known in Fukang Village.

Because there was a woman in the shop who was skilled at playing the pipa, qin, and zheng with ease, and she was also skilled at blowing leaves. Her music was melodious and could make people have a good night's sleep and feel relaxed all over.

Therefore, this place is most lively at night, with many visitors.

Lin Shu was not there to listen to music; he had his own plans.

The unorthodox lineage harms lives and damages morality, while the demonic lineage kills and accumulates evil. Although their paths are different, they both thrive in places with many people.

Therefore, if there is any change in the village, this place is the most likely place to happen.

After thinking it over, Lin Shu picked up some peanuts from the table and drank them down with the coarse wine the inn had given him, but his gaze fell on the small table in front of him.

There was an open space in front of the inn, where a small stage was set up, and at the hour of Xu (7-9 PM), a woman would play the zither.

The time is approaching.

A moment later, a woman strolled out from behind the inn, her hair adorned with a wooden hairpin, dressed simply, her face half-covered by a veil, revealing only a pair of narrow, phoenix-shaped eyes.

Holding a long zither, she slowly ascended the stage, bowed to the crowd, then put down the zither and said softly, "Greetings, Lin Miaoyin."

Today we will play "Sunset Flute and Drum," I hope you all enjoy it.

After speaking, her slender white hand landed on the strings, and with a gentle pluck, a clear, flowing sound spread out.

At first, the music was pleasing to the ear, as if a woman was breathing in one's ear, making one's heart itch with desire.

Everyone was overjoyed and blushed, clapping and cheering.

In the middle section, the music rises and falls dramatically, with sudden changes in the musical scale, like water flowing through stone, constantly alternating between clear and melodious sounds.

Just then, Lin Shu frowned, suddenly sensing that something was amiss.

The music carried a strange power, as if it were provoking or testing, with a clear rhythm, as if it were drawing something in.

He seemed to sense something, and looked out of the shop. The sycamore trees were rustling and their branches were shaking wildly, like a group of demons dancing in chaos.

Lin Shu narrowed his eyes, and without hesitation, raised his hand and pointed, divine light shining down from the sky, directly covering Lin Miaoyin's face.

Lin Miaoyin's expression remained unchanged; instead, she smiled and teased, "This little Taoist is quite impatient, attempting such a crude act while I'm off guard. How can I possibly bear it?"

As soon as she finished speaking, she plucked the strings with her jade-like fingers, and the music transformed into sharp blades of sound that met the divine light.

Then her phoenix eyes narrowed, and she scolded, "You've only just entered the Longevity Immortal realm, yet you dare to fight me?"

Which lineage's disciples are so arrogant?

Her eyebrows furrowed, her tone aggressive, clearly showing anger.

In an instant, his phoenix eyes widened, his face showed panic, and he hurriedly dodged to the side.

Immediately afterward, he vanished without a trace, abandoning his zither.

Originally, the divine light and the sound blade collided in mid-air. The sound blade shattered upon contact, while the divine light, unstoppable, descended directly upon Lin Miaoyin.

Lin Shu ignored Lin Miaoyin, flicked his sleeves, and with a slight surge of magic power, woke up everyone in the shop.

He then said in a deep voice, "I am Lin Shu, the Manifestation God of Qingwu City. I have come to capture a demon who is causing trouble here. There is no need for you to panic."

Having said that, he had a sudden thought, donned his divine robe, and released a slight aura of the Qingwu City's earth veins towards the Zhou people.

Everyone immediately felt relieved. Seeing that the robe was exactly the same as the statue of the righteous god in the temple, they were both surprised and delighted, and quickly shouted, "The righteous god has appeared!"

Then one must kneel and worship.

Lin Shu raised his hand and smiled, "No need for formalities when traveling in private. Qing Min, protect this place."

"Qingmin is the newly appointed landowner of Fukang Village, and will surely protect you all."

As soon as he finished speaking, he had a thought and, through his divine perception, knew in a moment that Lin Miaoyin had already fled to the forest outside the village.

Without further hesitation, he took a step and used the earth's veins to escape, instantly giving chase.

Everyone stood there, stunned. They looked at each other with a mixture of relief and lingering fear.

Fortunately, the righteous god Xianyou was there, and they were not harmed by that evil man.

You can know a person's face but not their heart. Lin Miaoyin has been in Fukang Village for a long time, but I never expected her to be this kind of person.

But where is the local earth god? I can't see him.

As everyone looked around, a giant azure dragon suddenly appeared out of thin air, wearing a green crown and a green robe, its body standing upright, exuding a majestic aura.

They were startled, and upon closer inspection, they realized that the robe was clearly that of the local earth god they usually worshipped.

Wow, it turns out the local earth god who protects the village is actually a dragon!

Seeing this, Qingmin raised its head proudly, and with a slight sway of its dragon tail, it protected everyone even more tightly.

It naturally remembers what Lin Shu entrusted to it.

A grove of sycamore trees outside the village.

In less than half a breath, Lin Shu had already caught up with Lin Miaoyin.

With a slight raise of his hand, he activated the power of his divine position, causing the surrounding land to surge and transform into heavy chains that wrapped around Lin Miaoyin's feet.

At the same time, the ground on all four sides rolled up like a curtain, transforming into towering earthen walls that rolled back towards him.

Upon seeing this, Lin Miaoyin pursed her lips, flipped her hand to take out a bronze bell, pinched the handle with her slender white fingers, and gently shook it.

Ring ring—

The bell rang suddenly, and the sonic blade shot out abruptly, shattering the chain upon impact and turning it into scattered clods of earth.

However, her face showed no joy; instead, she became increasingly worried.

"I was just being a little sharp-tongued, why are you pressing me so hard, young Taoist?" Lin Miaoyin asked, frowning.

Seeing that the earthen wall blocked her way and was pulling her toward Lin Shu, she was very anxious and said in a panic, "I know I was wrong, please spare my life, young Taoist priest."

Even if it meant serving Miaoyin as a slave or maid, she would be willing.

As she finished speaking, she gently shook the bronze bell, and a low tinkling sound seemed to carry a pleading tone.

Lin Shu remained unmoved, raised his hand and gestured, causing the earthen wall to shrink and bulge, then violently shake, throwing Lin Miaoyin down in front of him.

Then, with a tap of its toes, the soil surged up, burying it up to its neck, leaving only its head sticking out.

He glanced at Lin Miaoyin and said with a faint smile, "You have to eat it even if you can't handle it."

Are you a disciple of the unorthodox sect? What brings you to Qingwu City?

Having said that, he used his divine position to perceive the four directions and quietly observed all movements.

Upon exchanging blows with Lin Miaoyin, Lin Shu knew that she could not possibly be a disciple of the Demonic Sect.

There's no other reason than that their strength is too weak, and their magical techniques are utterly insignificant.

Although he was a longevity immortal, he was not even as good as the disciples of the miscellaneous lineage at the Dharma assembly; he was just good with words.

However, disciples of the unorthodox lineage usually prefer to travel in groups, so there should be other people nearby.

Lin Miaoyin spat out the dirt in her mouth, shook her head, and said with a wry smile, "Young Taoist priest, you've misunderstood."

Miao Yin has always loved music and enjoys collecting various musical instruments. Having long heard that Fukang Village is famous for its zithers, she became curious and came here to see for herself.

They were just taking the opportunity to practice their skills and exchange ideas with other musicians who came to the area; there was no ill intent behind their actions.

I hope the young Taoist priest will understand that everything Miaoyin said is true.
