Chapter 14 Opening the Altar

The journey to Chenji Mountain is long and arduous, and cannot be completed in a single day.

However, all the invited cultivators arrived on the last day.

Upon arriving at the Taiyi Yuanchen Sect, Lin Shu had just descended from the gourd and entered the mountain gate when he saw a tall altar, which corresponded to the three realms and was divided into upper, middle, and lower levels.

On the upper level of the altar, the deities of Heaven and Earth were enshrined, with incense burners and ritual implements arranged on the left and right, and a divine list hanging on one side.

The middle level features a sandalwood altar table with sacred water and a cinnabar brush on it, and a tall seat in the center.

On the lower level, there stands the Five Primordial Daoist Tablets, enshrined with ever-burning incense and lamps, signifying the Daoist sect's commitment to acting in accordance with Heaven's will.

In front of the altar, prayer cushions were laid out.

Five red prayer cushions were placed in front, followed by green and brown ones, with black ones at the end, arranged in layers to await the invited monks to take their seats.

Lin Shu had been watching for a short while when everyone had already landed on the gourd and stood quietly to the side.

Among them, the old Taoist priest looked reserved with his eyes slightly lowered, while the young Taoist priest was full of energy and looked into the distance.

At that moment, the Taoist Shouzheng had already recalled his wine gourd, took a sip of wine, and said with a relaxed expression, "Tomorrow at Chenshi (7-9 AM) is the time for the opening of the Kunyuan Dharma Assembly."

Fellow Daoists, please rest and recuperate peacefully within my Taiyi Yuanchen Sect today.

As soon as he finished speaking, dozens of disciples dressed in Taoist robes slowly walked in from both sides of the mountain gate.

The leader was clearly experienced; with a glance and a moment's thought, he had already assigned his fellow disciples to their places.

In a short while, the area in front of Lin Shu was empty.

The disciples of the Miscellaneous School of Dharma were led away to rest, while Bao Yidao, Xuanzheng, and Shouzheng escorted the mountain god to the Hall of Merits and Demerits to await punishment.

Zhang Ziling also went along.

After a moment's thought, Lin Shu immediately turned and headed towards the Hall of Legal Certificates.

This is to secure the position of a righteous god for Qingmin, nothing else. Therefore, it is necessary to register Qingmin before the Dharma assembly begins.

After all, wild monsters cannot be recognized by heaven and earth and thus be granted the title of righteous gods who protect a region.

After walking for a short while, you will see an ancient and simple pavilion.

A black wooden plaque with blue characters on a black background hangs in front of the gate, bearing the three seal characters "法牒殿" (Fa Die Dian).

Perhaps the Taoist priest had given prior notice, because as soon as Lin Shu stepped into the pavilion, the old Taoist priest in charge of registration greeted him with a smile, holding a piece of paper with most of the words written on it and a jade talisman.

"So it's Junior Brother Lin who's arrived!"

"Truly a divine artifact, it will one day become a pillar of our Taiyi lineage!"

The old Taoist laughed heartily and praised him. Then, while picking up a brush and writing ink, he asked curiously, "I wonder if Junior Brother Lin could summon that dragon so that I can perform some rituals?"

"And incidentally, let the old Taoist priest broaden his horizons and see what that dragon really looks like."

Lin Shu smiled gently: "Of course."

With a flick of his sleeve, Qingmin, understanding his intention, swam out lightly and quietly rested on his shoulder.

Upon seeing this, the old Taoist priest was delighted and repeatedly exclaimed "Excellent!" Then he picked up his brush and wrote on the paper, "Junior Brother Lin, what is the name of this dragon?"

Lin Shu said calmly, "Qing Min."

"A good name, it has potential," the old Taoist priest nodded and smiled.

With a flick of his hand, ink appeared on the paper. When it was combined with the jade talisman, it seemed to be swallowed up and disappeared.

"Junior Brother Lin, the registration is complete."

This dragon has now come under the name of my Taiyi lineage and is protected by my Taiyi Yuanchen Sect. From this day forward, it is a registered member of the orthodox Taoist tradition.

After the old Taoist finished speaking, he gently handed the jade talisman in his hand to Lin Shu.

Lin Shu accepted the jade talisman, bowed in thanks, and then turned and returned along the same route.

Now that his purpose has been achieved, he should go to his resting place to recuperate and await the opening of the Dharma assembly tomorrow.

Just as they stepped out of the Hall of Legal Certificates, they had only taken a few steps when they were stopped by someone.

The newcomer was a woman, tall and beautiful, but with furrowed brows, looking as if she had something on her mind.

Upon seeing Lin Shu, she said, "Brother Shu, it's been so long! How have you been?"

"You're alright, everything's fine."

Lin Shu chuckled in response, then asked with a hint of doubt, "I wonder if the fairy spirit has something to ask me?"

Upon hearing this, Chen Xianling first nodded, then shook her head, hesitated for a moment, and then said softly:

"I just heard that Brother Shu was here, and since I had nothing urgent to do, I came to see you."

I hope Brother Shu won't find it offensive; it was the fairy spirit who disturbed us."

Upon hearing this, Lin Shu smiled slightly and was about to reply when Chen Xianling stepped forward and spoke first:

"Brother Shu, please go easy on me during the Dharma Assembly competition tomorrow."

My brother only heard that you had not yet formed a Dao embryo, and he was also thinking about the past. He was obsessed with something and that's why he wanted to embarrass you.

I didn't mean to make things difficult for you.

Chen Hao?

Before he finished speaking, a figure appeared in Lin Shu's mind.

When he was still in the foundation-building and self-cultivation stage, he had already been troubled by his great reputation, which caused him a lot of trouble.

Young people are often ambitious and feel they are not inferior to others, nor are they willing to be inferior to them.

Therefore, when they see someone being superior to them, they feel resentful.

Lin Shu was troubled by this for a long time, until he fell behind others on the path of cultivation, and only then did the troubles gradually dissipate.

However, there were still those who were determined to persist, especially Chen Hao.

He did it for two reasons: first, to prove himself, and second, for Chen Xianling.

He said he would never let the person who wronged his sister off lightly.

But when have I ever been like this?

Lin Shu was puzzled. He looked at the figure in front of him, then shook his head slightly and said, "I understand."

How to deal with Chen Hao's provocation depends on how he acts at that time.

Ultimately, since they belong to the same lineage of Taiyi, they should exercise some restraint when making a move.

Moreover, Chen Hao is the chief disciple of the Taiyi Yuanchen Sect, so we need to be even more careful.

Chen Xianling, standing nearby, immediately broke into a smile.

Her eyes crinkled into a smile, and her tone carried a hint of playfulness: "Then thank you very much, Brother Shu."

Lin Shu shook his head and chuckled: "Xian Ling, do you have that much faith in me?"

You must know, I only recently formed my Dao embryo and attained the rank of Human Immortal.

"Of course," Chen Xianling said with a smile. "Brother Shu has always been the most amazing."

"Besides, whether Brother Shu wins or my brother wins, the fairy spirit will be happy."

After saying that, she chatted with Lin Shu for a few more minutes before taking her leave.

Standing there, Lin Shu sighed inwardly, "This girl..."

However, Chen Xianling's words served as a reminder to him that there would be many troublemakers at tomorrow's Dharma assembly.

There was that unknown person who had condensed his Dao embryo with the spiritual essence of the Xuan Snake, and then there were Chen Hao and others. Who knows how many other opponents were hiding.

How did I end up becoming such a sought-after person?

Thinking of this, Lin Shu chuckled and raised his hand to pat the blue jade pendant on his shoulder.

When soldiers come, generals will block them; when water comes, earth will dam it.

He was confident that he could defeat all his enemies with his profound skills and obtain the position of a true god.

After all, this matter concerns his future path of cultivation, and he cannot afford to be careless.

Qingmin had long been connected with him by their energy, and with each increase in Qingmin's strength, his own cultivation would advance accordingly.
