Chapter 12 Exorcising Demons

The pool in the mountain is fixed in one place.

It is neither a river nor a sea, therefore, even its depth has a bottom.

A short while later, the water in the pool scattered and fell, washing over the surrounding rocks and trees, before slowly flowing back to the dry pool.

At the edge of the deep pool, the water turtle stretched out its limbs, its eyes slightly narrowed, gazing in the direction of the scale book.

It waded through the water, intending to use its power to drown the two people, but then, as if biting a live fish, it pecked at their heads.

But the moment he caught a glimpse of that divine light, fear arose within him, and he instinctively landed to the side, secretly observing.

The more he looked, the more apprehensive he became. By this point, he was even more determined to retreat and turned to flee.

Seeing the water turtle stretching its neck and supporting its limbs, Lin Shu quickly realized that the monster was probably trying to escape.

How can we let such a harmful thing go unpunished?

Before the water turtle could make a move, the scales had already struck first.

Without even glancing at it, he strode forward, casually raised his hand, and the Xuanpin Divine Light shot out, heading straight for the water turtle.

Then the water turtle's pupils suddenly contracted, looking as if it were terrified.

Immediately, it shrank its thick neck and disappeared into its shell, its limbs also retracting as it lay down on the ground.

It attempted to repeat its old trick, relying on its thick shell to protect itself.

However, the divine light could sweep across heaven and earth and all things. As soon as it struck the tortoise shell, a piece about a foot in size vanished into thin air, revealing the tender red flesh inside.

The next instant.

The water turtle cried out in pain, its eyes, hidden inside its shell, filled with fear.

In less than half a breath, it suddenly turned into narrow eyes, resembling a few star-like pupils, and a fierce glint also emerged.

It spread its tortoise body, braced itself on its four limbs, and with a sudden kick, it crashed into the Scale Book like a small mountain collapsing.

Lin Shu seemed unaware, and with a surge of his magical power, divine light pierced through and blocked in front of him.

He met the approaching water turtle with his hands behind his back, his expression calm, and he stepped closer.

He then slightly raised his eyelids and said calmly, "Such petty tricks, yet you dare to be so presumptuous?"

As soon as he finished speaking, a great divine light shone forth, and before the water turtle could even get close, it collided with the divine light.

Suddenly, the mountain wind howled, and the leaves rustled.

In just a moment, the tortoise's massive body was lifted up and sent flying backwards in a sorry state into the distance.

When it landed, it ended up in a comical upside-down position.

The turtle was immediately alarmed. It stretched out its thick neck, put its head on the ground, and tried to flip itself over.

Just then, Lin Shu arrived.

Seeing this, he looked somewhat surprised, then chuckled and raised his hand to unleash a divine light on the exposed thick neck of the water turtle.

These demons, which have not yet shed their original forms and returned to human ways, are merely beginning to develop intelligence and are not yet able to speak human language.

Therefore, even if one inquires, no clues can be found.

It would be safer to end it directly.

As the divine light descended, the turtle demon let out a mournful wail. The flesh on its thick neck vanished instantly, and its bones crumbled inch by inch.

As it struggled for survival, its beak opened wide, attempting to pounce on the scale book, but it was struck by a divine light, instantly separating its body from its head.

"I was a bit too hasty."

Lin Shu shook his head, said nothing, glanced at the water turtle corpse, thought for a moment, and then put it into his storage bag.

Although water turtles belong to the aquatic world, since they have eaten humans, their flesh carries a malevolent and impure aura, making them unsuitable for feeding Qingmin.

However, it is suitable for trading and has some value.

Moreover, this turtle carcass might have other uses.

His gaze shifted slightly, and he couldn't help but think again about the matter of Lord Mountain Crocodile protecting the people of Guishou Village, feeling that something strange was amiss.

After some deliberation, Lin Shu decided to put the matter aside for the time being, turned around, and walked towards Zhang Ziling.

Upon arrival, one could see the figures of Bao Daoren and Xuan Zheng.

Beside him stood a burly, imposing man, dressed in a divine robe with mountain and river patterns, his hands bound by a golden rope.

As soon as Lin Shufang entered, he heard the burly man's angry expression and his booming voice:

"Why have you captured me, fellow Daoists?"

"I have diligently governed this land for sixty years; the land's energy flows smoothly, and the people live in peace. What crime have I committed?"

He spoke with an air of certainty, yet his eyes held a hint of bewilderment.

The Taoist priest did not respond, but shook his head and sighed softly. He then turned his gaze to Lin Shu and smiled, "Indeed, remain calm in the face of demons, and have no doubts when slaying them. This is how one should eliminate demons."

Lin Shu bowed and said, "Master, you flatter me. It is my duty."

As soon as he finished speaking, Bao Dao nodded slightly, and Xuan Zheng also smiled and praised, "Brother Dao, you have indeed taken in a good disciple."

Although the mountain god of this place had some abilities, he could not withstand the two earth immortals for long. Therefore, he returned after a short while and witnessed Lin Shu's methods of exorcising demons.

It is truly mysterious and profound, worthy of the title "mysterious skill".

Upon hearing this, Lin Shu bowed again and then recounted the story of the water turtle causing trouble. After a slight pause, he asked about the relationship between the turtle and Lord Mountain Crocodile.

Just then, the bound man spoke first.

"Impossible, absolutely impossible!"

"The mountain crocodile is my close friend. I know his background. Although he is a crocodile turtle that has become a spirit, he is not that ferocious. How could he be involved with a monster that harms people?"

His expression was one of excitement and disbelief, then, as if remembering something, he sneered and said:

"I have heard that you who are the sole inheritors of the Dharma lineage are the most despicable."

They often boast of being the orthodox lineage of Taoism, yet secretly engage in despicable acts and ostracize those of us from other schools of thought.

I initially thought it was just a rumor spread by petty people, but now it seems it's actually true.

He paused for a moment, then glanced at Lin Shu and Zhang Ziling, as if suddenly realizing something, and chuckled:

"The earth's veins and mountains are limited, so the positions of the true gods are also limited. For every additional person in office, one less person will be granted a title."

Bao Yi and Xuan Zheng, you two were planning something for your disciples, which is why you captured me for no reason!

"What a wonderful master! Truly a wonderful master of the Taoist school!"

After saying that, the big man spat, his face full of contempt.

Unexpectedly, a long sword suddenly appeared and struck him directly in the face, instantly stunning him and knocking him to the ground.

However, Xuanzheng acted on impulse.

He lowered his eyes slightly and coldly rebuked, "Fool."

You are unaware of what others are planning, yet you dare to speak recklessly?

You only consider the mountain crocodile a friend, but you don't know that it mates with the water turtle, causing them to have offspring.

Then, they were fed with hard rocks, and the adult turtles that could eat the rocks were kept as breeding stock and released into the mountains to reproduce endlessly.

If this continues, the mountains will inevitably become dangerous and endanger the people. The mountain crocodiles will then be able to take advantage of this to protect the people, gain offerings, and become wild gods.

After saying that, Xuanzheng said no more.

He only spoke and acted because he saw that the man was truly foolish.

He was also grateful to Brother Baoyi's disciple for his earlier intervention, which saved Zhang Ziling from danger.

Thinking of this, Xuanzheng turned to look at Linshu, nodded slightly and smiled.

Upon seeing this, Lin Shu slightly cupped his hands in return.

He naturally understood the true meaning of the profound mystery.

However, somewhat unexpectedly, the big man's words at that moment revealed his true meaning.

"Brother Xuanzheng, Brother Baoyi."

If that's the case, then who should bear the blame for that evil spirit's indulgence in its offspring harming people?

He looked flustered and stammered, completely unlike his previous domineering self.
