Why is the Demon King like this?

Chapter 74 Letters from the Past

The files are not allowed to be taken out of the activity room. Although Fujiko Hoshino did not say it explicitly, the information in them must not be leaked.

Keisuke Ao took the file box and sat back down. He put the light novel in the drawer, opened the box, and took out a thick stack of A4 paper.

The stack of papers was divided into several parts using clips and a stapler, with a letter on top.

Upon opening the envelope, one finds a piece of paper with a pale yellow lily drawn in the lower right corner.

Before Aokiji could open it, Hoshino Fujiko suddenly asked, "You know about the Fujita family?"

"Hmm," Qing Guijie replied.

After that, Fujiko Hoshino didn't say anything more, and Keisuke Ao opened the letter along the crease.

"Hoshino-neechan, I am Momoharu from the Fujita family. It has been more than a month since we last met. I hope you are well."

Upon hearing that you founded such a society, I felt as if I had seen a ray of light amidst my confusion and fear. With this in mind, I tried to write this letter.

But rather than making a wish to you, what I want to ask for is the help of the Hoshino family.

The situation is serious, concerning the survival of the Fujita family. I have fallen to the point where I don't know who to trust. My elder brother is kind and honest, and I don't want him to worry, nor do I want him to leak information. Only Hoshino-neechan can I absolutely trust. Perhaps only the Hoshino family has the ability to save the Fujita family now.

This matter is of great importance, and I cannot elaborate further in this letter. If you can offer your assistance, please meet with me, and I will tell you everything truthfully.

After reading the entire letter, Aokiji seemed to be deep in thought. He looked at Hoshino and asked, "Actually, the first person in the Fujita family to discover the anomaly was not Fujita Shimaji, but his sister Fujita Momoharu."

"That's right."

Fujiko Hoshino replied, "I've recorded all the details in the report; you can take your time to read it."

Aside from the thick report at the bottom, there were five or six similar letters, which should all be private letters from Fujita Momoharu to Hoshino Fujiko.

Keisuke Ao didn't open any more; just reading the first letter was enough to tell that their relationship was definitely not as simple as it was made to seem.

He simply pressed further: "What price did you demand from Fujita Momoharu?"

Fujiko Hoshino, with an expressionless face, replied, "...He killed his father with his own hands."

Aoki Keisuke immediately laughed: "Is this a punishment or a reminder?"

"Who told you that the price needs to be meaningful?" Fujiko Hoshino retorted. "A price is just a price. I can see whatever price I want to see."

"Understood." Aokiji was satisfied with her answer. "That's all for today. Club activities are coming to an end. I'm planning to go to the beach this weekend. Hoshino-san, would you like to come along?"

Hoshino Fujiko's empty eyes were completely unmoved, and she didn't even speak, but suddenly she threw the book in her hand at Ao Keisuke.

Keisuke Ao easily took the book and casually put it into his bag along with the light novel.

"I just happen to need a book to read on the beach. Can I borrow it this weekend? I'll return it to you after I've finished reading it."

Keisuke Ao instantly sensed the surge of spiritual energy emanating from Miss Hoshino, but surprisingly, he felt no sense of crisis whatsoever.

Being stared at by those suddenly sharp eyes gave me a strange, itchy feeling.

"Don't push your luck, Qing Guijie."

"I know, I know!" Keisuke Ao stood up and put the file box back in its place. "Even if we go to the beach, I'll still investigate everything about Ai Komatsu... Huh? Or do you actually want to go to the beach with me?"

With a cold expression, Hoshino Fujiko silently opened a drawer, expertly pulled out a pistol, released the safety, and aimed it at Ao Keisuke.

"Special Demon-Slaying Bullet, specifically designed to kill Onmyoji. I think you'd better die peacefully here."

Shoot? Or not?

Seeing this, Keisuke Ao's eyes lit up, anticipating Fujiko Hoshino's decision.

"--Anyway, we can handle it."

Hoshino Fujiko's beautiful eyes narrowed, making her beauty mark even more prominent. Ao Keisuke stared at her face, admiring the girl's increasingly cold expression.

Her slightly protruding chest rose and fell, the bow on her white short shirt was bright, her fingers holding the gun were fair and slender, and her neatly trimmed nails had a lovely pink tinge.

The young lady suddenly sneered: "Qing Guijie, you rutting monkey deserve to die."

"Bang!" Without hesitation, the index finger pulled the trigger, and the gunshot rang out like thunder.

In an instant, crimson, illusory scales covered Qing Guijie's right hand, and then he suddenly reached out and clenched his fist.

"Sizzle..."

A gust of hot wind blew up Hoshino Fujiko's short hair, and her pupils contracted slightly—if she wasn't mistaken, the specially made bullet was actually caught directly in Ao Keisuke's hand!

"President, you're so cold-hearted."

With his schoolbag in one hand and a bullet in the other, Keisuke Ao smiled and said goodbye to Hoshino.

……

On his way home, Keisuke Ao played with the still-warm metal bullet in his hand. It was surprising that Fujiko Hoshino actually fired the gun in the end. If he were just an ordinary person, he would have been killed on the spot.

—I guess I should really tone it down a bit?

Hoshino, that guy, is surprisingly quick to anger!

However, the gun was not ultimately aimed at a vital spot, so the young lady should still have room to continue her desperate actions.

Keisuke Ao smiled and observed the unactivated magic seal on the warhead. Its interior resembled a miniature fixed magic device with a rather complex spiritual pathway.

In reality, Keisuke Ao was only relying on his martial arts skills and superb spiritual control to take advantage of the situation. If he were to confront the enemy head-on, even his spiritual defenses would probably be pierced by bullets.

On the way back, the Demon King learned the essence of breaking magic.

……

Fujiko Hoshino gripped the gun, while her other hand, placed under the desk, clutched the hem of her skirt.

It really was blocked...

And it's so easy to grab with your hands...

Watching Aokiji's retreating figure, she hesitated, unsure of what to say.

Because of Keisuke Ao's overly casual movements, her shooting action seemed like a joke.

But she knew very well that it was no joke.

Only after Keisuke Ao left the activity room and could no longer be seen by even the furthest surveillance cameras did Fujiko Hoshino suddenly lose her strength, and the heavy pistol drooped down, slumping against the chair.

"call……"

"Is this some kind of monster?"

After catching her breath, she put the pistol back on safety and returned it to the drawer. Then she got up and walked to the spot where Qing Guijie had caught the bullet. The air there still retained an astonishing heat that even the air conditioner couldn't dissipate for a while.

However, what she cared about was not how Keisuke caught the bullet, but the third file that he had put back in its place.

Some trivial things about "Fujita Momoharu".

Perhaps in the future, it will be something only she knows and remembers.

Hoshino Fujiko ran her fingers over the file, closed her eyes, and felt a chill run through her body despite the surrounding heat.
