Apocalyptic Crossover: Starting with a Guide to Winning Over Asuna

Chapter 18: The Captain's Wrath, The Giants Attack

After the three finished training, they went to the army canteen for lunch.

The canteen was crowded with people, including soldiers from the base and people who had come to provide support.

You can tell just by looking at their clothes.

Some supporters sat there talking animatedly.

"Giants are just monsters that are slightly larger in size. In my opinion, they are just paper tigers."

"That makes sense. The larger the body, the slower the movement. We humans are agile, so defeating them is not difficult."

"It can only be said that the soldiers stationed here are of average skill. They can't defeat the Titans, so they sent out a request for support. They should have just invited me over; I'm enough on my own, hahaha~"

The man spoke loudly, and many soldiers in the mess hall heard him.

The soldiers were very angry, but they held back their tempers due to discipline.

[Ethan, combat power 50.]

It turns out this guy's combat strength is 50, which is much higher than the average soldier's level. No wonder he dared to spout such nonsense.

"Lu Xiao, don't listen to that guy's nonsense. Giants are far more terrifying than you think," Asuna warned.

Lu Xiao nodded: "Of course I know. This guy is so arrogant, he'll have his day."

Kirito: "I see you're carrying a sniper rifle. Are you planning to use it in battle?"

"Hmm, I want to try and see if I can take down the Titan with a sniper rifle."

Although he had the 3D Maneuver Gear, Lu Xiao didn't want to risk his life flying around in front of the Titans; it would be best to deal with them remotely.

The three of them ate while discussing their strategies for fighting the giants.

However, the guy named Ethan continued to chatter on and on, which annoyed some of the soldiers.

Finally, someone stepped forward.

The person was wearing a jacket similar to Mikasa's, with the Wings of Liberty emblem printed on the chest. He had short, black, center-parted hair, dead fish eyes, and was only 1.6 meters tall.

[Levi Ackerman, Affection Level 0, Combat Power 220, Difficulty Level S.]

His combat power is 20 points higher than Mikasa's.

The cold aura emanating from her instantly drowned out the noise in the cafeteria, and the previously boisterous discussions came to an abrupt halt.

"It's Captain Levi. That guy's in for a rough time now."

"How dare he mock us! Let's see how Lord Levi deals with him."

Levi approached Ethan.

Just a fist's distance from Ethan's face, a cool, mocking voice said, "You're saying the giants are paper tigers?"

"You shorty dares to tell me what to do? I say you're a paper tiger, so you are a paper tiger!" Ethan shouted.

Before he could finish speaking, Levi moved.

He was incredibly fast; Ethan's raised wrist was instantly gripped tightly by his iron-like fingers, and the sound of bones dislocating was clearly audible.

Levi applied a little force, and Ethan's face turned pale with pain.

"You have a foul mouth and little skill." Levi snorted. "Have you ever seen your comrades torn to pieces by a Titan? Have you ever seen a battlefield littered with limbs, where not even a complete corpse remains?"

The moment Levi released his grip, he casually kicked Ethan's knee, causing Ethan to fall to his knees with a thud, trembling in pain.

"It hurts!" Ethan cried out in pain.

Levi frowned in disgust: "Slandering the soldiers who risked their lives to defend the fortress, boasting about things you couldn't do, you piece of trash don't even deserve to be a soldier."

"Captain Levi, I support you!"

"Well done!"

Levi pulled a clean handkerchief from his pocket and tossed it in front of Ethan: "Clean this place up and go to the training ground to run a hundred laps with weights. If you dare to slack off, or if I hear you utter another word of nonsense, I'll personally throw you over the wall and let you see for yourself whether the Titans are paper tigers or not."

Ethan angrily said, "Why? I'm not a soldier here. I'm just here to support you, and you treat me like this! I quit! I'm leaving! What do I care if you live or die!"

Levi sneered, "You signed a three-day contract. You're now a soldier at our base, and everything will be done according to military regulations. If you leave now, you'll be a deserter, and you should know the consequences!"

The thought of the consequences of desertion made Ethan instantly deflate. He could only tremble as he picked up his handkerchief and frantically wipe the ground.

Levi didn't linger and returned to his seat to continue eating.

The farce came to an abrupt end, and no one dared to speak out of turn anymore.

"That man is Captain Levi, a colonel, and also the vice commander of the Wings of Freedom," Kirito said.

Asuna: "Pretty impressive~"

Kirito: "He's more than just amazing. I've seen his battle videos. He can easily handle several giants by himself."

The three finished their meal.

Just as Lu Xiao picked up his plate, an alarm suddenly sounded at the base.

"Giants are attacking! Everyone, return to your battle stations immediately!"

The soldiers put down their bowls and chopsticks and quickly left the mess hall.

The rest of the people were supporters, some of whom looked completely bewildered.

"Are the giants coming?"

"They're here. Didn't you see the soldiers have all gone to assemble?"

Ethan threw away his handkerchief and stomped on it hard: "Levi, you just wait! So what if it's a Titan? I'll kill a few and show you, prove you're all trash!"

At that moment, Mikasa rushed in: "Supporters, assemble! I'll lead you to the fortress!"

"receive!"

"Wow, it's Commander Mikasa, she's so beautiful!"

Some people were even whistling at Mikasa.

Mikasa merely frowned slightly, without saying anything more.

The support team followed Mikasa quickly to the fortress, some of them still laughing and joking, completely disregarding the Titans.

Mikasa: "Check your equipment."

Lu Xiao, Kirito, and Asuna all checked carefully, and everything was normal.

The group then arrived at the walls of the Crimson Fortress.

The group stood on the 50-meter-high city wall, looking north.

On the vast plain, a dark mass of giants was charging toward the fortress.

There were over a hundred of them.

The size and height of ordinary giants vary, mostly between 5 meters and 15 meters.

Their running posture is very peculiar, with their legs striding wide apart and their arms swinging upwards, making the overall posture strange and incongruous.

Hundreds of giants were running around, and you could even feel the walls trembling slightly.

[Ordinary Titan, combat strength 80-120.]

Its combat power is equivalent to a monster of level 12-15.

Ethan stood at the edge of the city wall, a chill running down his spine as he looked at the giants: "How can these giants run so fast?"

Mikasa: "Ordinary Titans can run at twice the speed of an adult. Without the assistance of the 2D Maneuver Gear, you can't outrun a Titan."

"But don't worry, since you've just arrived today, observe the other people's fighting styles here first. Remember not to act rashly, and follow orders completely."

Dozens of cannons on the city wall were already aimed at the giant.

"Fire!" the artillery captain ordered.

The cannons fired down in succession, blasting more than a dozen giants to the ground.
