Eternal Tower: Atreia Era
Chapter 21: The Spiked Hunt, the Glimmering Fragments
The golden light of the Judgment of Light pierced through the gray-black mist, and Lynn's figure, who took the initiative to charge forward, was particularly dazzling in the dim valley.
He was no longer bound by the dragon warriors' rhythm. The light ether within him surged wildly, and the light blades gathering at his fingertips grew ever more intense. Each swing of the sword carried the sound of wind cutting through the air, aiming directly at the vital points of the two dragon warriors.
He knew that only by taking the initiative could he break the enemy's "trap and hunt" scheme and buy himself and Lina some breathing space.
Upon seeing this, the dragon warrior on the left showed a hint of surprise in his eyes, then grinned maliciously. His black dragon claws grew even larger and slashed fiercely at Lynn's blade of light. The moment the tainted ether collided with the power of light, a piercing sizzling sound erupted, and black mist and golden light fragments flew everywhere.
"Kid, you do have some guts, but unfortunately, caught in the trap and attacked by us, it's all in vain!"
Before the words were even finished, the dragon warrior on the right had already circled behind Lynn, his toes touching the rocks in the safe zone, and delivered a fierce sweeping kick towards Lynn's lower back.
At the same time, he deliberately raised his foot, trying to kick Lynn towards the spike array that had not yet fully retracted not far away—the black iron spikes had not completely retracted into the ground after being triggered, and the venom at the tips still shimmered with a cold, eerie green light. With just half a step, the spikes would pierce his ankle.
Lynn had already sensed the killing intent behind him. He used his nimble footwork to dodge the fatal blow, his body as light as a cheetah. At the same time, he swung a slash of light in his backhand, aiming straight for the knee of the dragon warrior behind him.
The attack was swift and precise. The dragon warrior hastily twisted his body to dodge, but the blade still grazed his calf. His scales were split open, and black blood mixed with filthy ether gushed out, landing on the ground. It was instantly swallowed by the black liquid seeping from the cracks in the rocks, emitting a pungent odor.
"Damn it!" The wounded dragon warrior roared, his bloodlust growing stronger. Ignoring the pain in his wounds, he charged at Lynn again, his dragon claws gathering even more filthy ether, clearly intending to fight to the death.
The dragon warriors on the other side also seized the opportunity to launch a fierce attack. Two black dragon claws, one on the left and one on the right, attacked Lynn's vital points from both sides, while constantly compressing his evasive space and deliberately guiding him closer to the core area of the spike array.
Lynn's eyes sharpened, and he raised the Judgment of Light high in his hand, unleashing the full force of the Light Aether within his body.
"Purification of Light - Slash!"
A crisp shout echoed through the mist, and a condensed golden blade of light shot out, carrying the power to purify everything, forcefully forcing back two dragon warriors.
Taking advantage of the brief moment, he quickly took two steps back and stood firmly on a flat rock—this was the safe zone he had deliberately marked earlier, with no runes under his feet, so there was no need to worry about triggering a trap.
"We can no longer remain on the defensive; we must disrupt their rhythm."
Lynn muttered to himself, a resolute glint in his eyes. He recalled Gavin's instructions: the Light Purification combat technique was key to suppressing filth and malevolence.
At this moment, he no longer deliberately concealed his aura, allowing the light ether to surge within his body. The golden light of the Judgment of Light grew stronger and stronger, even faintly suppressing the surrounding malevolent energy and mist.
Not far away, the duel between Gavin and Moke intensified.
The golden sword of light clashed repeatedly with the black claws of shadow, the booming sound shaking the ground violently. The black iron spikes that had not yet retracted into the ground also swayed slightly, and the venom on the spikes dripped continuously, corroding the ground and creating a dense network of small holes.
Mok was agile and skilled in ambushes and close combat. He deliberately steered the battlefield toward the spike array, attempting to use the traps to restrain Gavin, while continuously releasing shadow venom to corrode Gavin's light barrier.
Gavin's protective barrier of light was already riddled with cracks, and fine beads of sweat were seeping from his face. The ether consumed by the purification of the entire domain had not yet fully recovered, and with Mok's entanglement, his breathing gradually became unstable.
But his eyes remained sharp, and his Bright Sword was deadly, each strike forcing Mok to retreat. "Mok, do you think you can buy time with these despicable means? Once we find the fragment, all your schemes will be in vain!"
"Hahaha, wishful thinking!"
Mok sneered, his figure flashed, turning into a black afterimage, and circled behind Gavin, his shadow claws viciously grabbing at Gavin's back.
"Lord Kalon is on his way. Once he arrives, not only will the fragments be lost, but all three of you will become sacrifices to the Dragon Demon Alliance!"
At this critical moment, Lina's voice suddenly rang out, and a golden blade of light slashed precisely towards Mok's back.
"Don't even think about ambushing your mentor!"
Ignoring the depletion of her own ethereal energy, she forcefully conjured two barriers of light, one behind Gavin and the other in front of herself. At the same time, she channeled gentle light energy from her fingertips towards Gavin.
Although this power was weak, it was enough to help Gavin temporarily stabilize his breathing and repair the damaged barrier of light.
Mok was forced to turn and block, the golden light blade clashing with the shadow claws. He was jolted back two steps by the impact of the light blade, a flash of anger crossing his eyes.
"You brat, you're just getting in the way!"
Before he finished speaking, he condensed a thick ball of shadow venom in his palm and hurled it fiercely at Lina. The venom formed a black arc in the air, carrying a corrosive power, and headed straight for Lina's face.
Lina's face turned pale. There was very little ether left in her body, and it was too late to form a barrier of light.
Just then, a golden figure rushed in front of her, wielding the Judgment of Light, which cleaved the Shadow Venom in two. The venom fell to the ground, instantly corroding a deep, dark pit.
"Lina, you rest first, leave this to me!" Lynn's voice was slightly panting. The charge and defense just now had greatly depleted the ether in his body, but he still stood in front of Lina, looking at Mok with a firm gaze.
Upon seeing this, the two dragon warriors immediately seized the opportunity to launch a fierce attack, charging towards Lynn from the left and right. At the same time, they deliberately stomped on the ground, causing a slight tremor, in an attempt to trigger the spike array around them, which had not yet completely subsided.
Lynn's pupils contracted sharply. While fending off the dragon warriors' attacks, he kept an eye on the ground. If he wasn't careful, he would be caught in a pincer movement.
"Lynn, use the power of purification to restrain their corrupted ether!" Gavin's voice came just in time. He seized the opportunity to launch a fierce attack, his Light Sword conjuring a massive blade of light, which he slashed fiercely at Mok. "I'll hold Mok back. You take care of these two dragonkin as quickly as possible, and don't give them a chance to trigger the trap!"
"clear!"
Lynn obeyed the order, and the light ether within his body began to circulate again, causing the Judgment of Light to radiate a dazzling golden light.
This time, he was no longer in a hurry to attack, but deliberately slowed down the pace, precisely avoiding the dragon warrior's attacks with each swing of his sword, while incorporating the power of light purification into each strike.
When the light blade collides with the dragon warrior's claws, golden purifying power seeps into their bodies through the claws, eroding their impure ether and gradually slowing their movements.
The dragon warrior on the left sensed the disorder in his ether and his face turned ugly instantly. He roared and, ignoring the purifying power within him, lunged at Lynn, trying to take him down with him.
Lynn's eyes narrowed, and as he dodged to the side, the Judgment of Light in his hand stabbed fiercely into his chest. The golden blade of light instantly pierced through his scales, and the power of purification erupted within him. The dragon warrior let out a shrill scream, and his body was gradually devoured by the power of light, eventually turning into a pool of black mist and dissipating into the fog.
The remaining dragon warrior's eyes flashed with fear upon seeing this. He knew that he was no match for Lynn on his own, let alone with Lina holding him back.
He instinctively wanted to back away, but suddenly remembered Caron's warning: if he couldn't hold off Lynn, he would only face death if he went back.
Gritting his teeth, he suddenly turned around and rushed towards the core area of the spike array, gathering all the filthy ether in his palm, intending to actively trigger the trap and drag Lynn and Lina into a desperate situation together.
"Oh no, he's about to trigger a trap!"
Lina cried out in alarm, immediately conjuring a blade of light and slashing it towards the dragon warrior's back. Lynn reacted instantly, using his full power to dash forward and chase after the dragon warrior, his Light Judgment gathering its strongest purifying power.
"Don't even think about it!"
The dragon warrior's lips curled into a desperate, sinister smile. He suddenly raised his foot and stomped hard on the runic markings in the core area of the spike array.
This time, the ground trembled more violently than before, and the ear-piercing metallic scraping sound tore through the mist once again. Countless black iron spikes burst from the ground, denser and sharper than before. The venom and malevolent energy on the spikes formed a black aura that spread outwards.
At the same time, the corrosive vines on the mountain wall were also disturbed, and like venomous snakes, they coiled around Lynn and Lina, forming an impenetrable encirclement.
"Lynn, Lina, back off!" Gavin's heart tightened at the sight, and he tried to rush over to help, but Moke held him back tightly. Moke let out a sinister laugh, "Gavin, keep a close eye on your disciples, they're about to be devoured by thorns and vines!"
Lynn pulled Lina along, using all his strength to retreat, while unleashing wave after wave of light slashes to sever the corrosive vines that were wrapping around them.
However, the area of the spike array was growing larger and larger, and the black aura was constantly eroding their senses. The golden light of the purifying jade pendant was becoming dimmer and dimmer, and it even began to get slightly hot. It was clear that it was about to be unable to withstand the corrosive effects of the malevolent energy and venom.
Lina was pale, her ether completely depleted, and she didn't even have the strength to condense a light blade. She could only hold onto Lynn's arm tightly, letting him pull her backward.
Just then, the Judgment of Light in Lynn's hand suddenly emitted a strange light. This light was not his own light ether, but a purer and more powerful force, completely different from the high-level light power on Mentor Gavin, yet it carried a familiar sense of intimacy.
Immediately afterwards, he felt a faint but clear warmth coming from the core area of the spike array. This warmth penetrated the dense malevolent energy and venom, dispelling the surrounding chill, and even causing the wildly growing spikes to pause for a moment.
"This is..." Lynn's pupils contracted sharply, a strong intuition surging within him, "It's a fragment of the Tower of Eternity! The fragment is in the core area of the spike array!"
Lina also sensed this strange power. A glint flashed in her eyes as she managed to gather a faint wisp of luminous ether. "That's right, this is the power of creation! Only the fragments of the Tower of Eternity can emit it! It's suppressing the malevolent energy of the spike array!"
Moke, who was not far away, turned pale instantly. He had obviously sensed the aura of the fragments as well, and a look of panic and greed flashed in his eyes.
"Impossible! How could the fragment be here? Lord Caron clearly said that the fragment was hidden in a secret chamber deep in the valley!"
He stopped bothering Gavin and turned to rush towards the core area of the spike array, determined to get the fragment first, even at the risk of being injured by the spikes.
Gavin seized the opportunity, his figure flashing as he rushed to Lynn and Lina's side. He raised his hand and conjured a massive barrier of light, forcefully repelling the surrounding spikes and vines.
"Great! The fragment is indeed here! Lynn, Lina, you two rest for a moment. I'll hold off Mok and the spike array until you recover, then we'll retrieve the fragment together!"
Lynn nodded gently, helped Lina back to a safe area, and carefully transferred the last bit of light ether in his body to Lina.
He gazed at the faint, soft white light emanating from the core of the spiked array, his eyes filled with unwavering resolve—no matter how many dangers lay ahead, no matter how ruthless Mok's schemes, he had to reclaim the fragments of the Tower of Eternity and safeguard the peace of Atreia.
Moke had already reached the edge of the spike array. He condensed a dark barrier around himself to resist the erosion of the spikes and the malevolent energy, and rushed towards the white light in the core area.
Gavin immediately gave chase, gathering the strongest power within his Light Sword.
"Mok, don't even think about getting near the shards!"
The golden power of light clashed with the black power of shadow once more. This time, Gavin held back, each strike of his Light Sword carrying the power to purify everything, forcefully tearing through Mok's shadow barrier and forcing him to retreat repeatedly.
The spikes of the spike array continued to grow, and the corrosive vines continued to entwine wildly, but the white light in the core area grew stronger and stronger. The power of creation continuously suppressed the malevolent energy and venom, gradually slowing down the growth rate of the spikes.
With Lynn's help, Lina's breathing gradually returned to normal. She gathered a gentle force of light and sent it towards Gavin to replenish his ether.
Lynn gripped the Judgment of Light tightly, his eyes scanning the surroundings warily. He knew that Mok would not give up easily, and that Kalon could arrive at any moment. They had to retrieve the fragments and leave Blackrock Valley as soon as possible.
Mok was forced into a retreat by Gavin, his body already bearing several wounds, and his shadow barrier growing increasingly dim, yet the greed in his eyes remained undiminished.
"Gavin, don't go too far! The fragment belongs to the Dragon Demon Alliance, and no one can take it away!" He suddenly circulated all the shadow power within his body, and a thick black mist rose around him, within which countless hideous shadow phantoms vaguely appeared.
"Shadow Sacrifice - Frenzy!"
Countless shadowy phantoms rushed towards Gavin, each carrying a dense aura of malevolence and corrupted ether. Gavin's eyes narrowed, and the light barrier around him instantly expanded, enveloping all the shadowy phantoms within it.
"Purification of Light - All Areas!"
The golden pillar of light erupted once more, purifying the surrounding shadows and malevolent energy. But this time, Mok's shadow power was exceptionally strong, and Gavin's light barrier cracked again, his aura becoming increasingly unstable.
Seeing this, Lynn no longer hesitated. His inner light ether surged wildly, the golden light of the Judgment of Light echoing the white light of the fragments, and he charged towards Mok.
"Mentor, let me help you!" Lina followed closely behind, conjuring several blades of light and slashing them toward Moke's back.
The three forces intertwined and collided in the core area of the spike array. The golden power of light, the black power of shadow, and the gentle power of creation battled against each other. The mist was torn apart, the malevolent energy was purified, and the spikes gradually shrank back to the ground under the suppression of the power of creation, while the corrosive vines slowly withered.
Moke was caught in a pincer attack by Gavin and Lynn, surrounded on all sides. His breath grew weaker and weaker, but he still fought desperately, trying to make a final struggle.
As Lynn watched the increasingly clear white light in the core area, a strong belief surged within him—victory was just around the corner. He suddenly raised his hand, and the white light of the Judgment of Light and the fragments instantly connected. A vast power of creation surged into his body, and his ether instantly increased dramatically, even showing faint signs of breaking through to the mid-stage of the intermediate level.
"Mok, your conspiracy has come to an end!"
A golden blade of light condensed at the top of the Judgment of Light, carrying the dual power of creation and light, and slashed fiercely towards Mok.
Mok's pupils constricted as he tried to dodge, but Gavin's Radiant Sword held him firmly in place, leaving him no choice but to watch helplessly as the blade of light slashed down upon him. A piercing scream rang out as Mok's body was cleaved in two by the blade of light. The power of shadow and the corrupted ether were instantly purified, turning into a pool of black water that dissipated on the ground.
The battle finally subsided temporarily. The spike array was completely quelled, the corrosive vines withered, and the surrounding mist was largely dispelled by the power of light and creation. The malevolent aura in the air also diminished considerably.
Gavin was slightly out of breath, a hint of fatigue on his face, but he couldn't hide the satisfaction in his eyes. "Well done, Lynn, Lena."
Lynn and Lina walked over to Gavin, and the three of them headed towards the core area of the spike array.
As they drew closer, the white light emanating from the fragment grew stronger, and the immense power of creation became increasingly clear, seemingly capable of dispelling all darkness and malevolence. When they reached the core area, they finally saw the fragment of the Tower of Eternity.
It lay quietly on a flat rock, its entire body crystal clear, radiating a soft white light, and its surface was surrounded by a faint power of creation. The surrounding malevolent energy and impure ether were completely suppressed by this power.
Lynn cautiously reached out, wanting to touch the shards.
Just as his fingertips were about to touch the fragment, the white light on the fragment suddenly flickered violently, like an out-of-control spark, followed by a burst of violent creative power.
It wasn't a gentle purification, but an energy shock with a tearing sensation. The remaining malevolent energy in the surrounding area was instantly shattered, turning into black mist and dissipating with a hiss.
At the same time, this force indiscriminately rebounded towards Lynn's fingertips.
His body was already severely depleted of ether, making it impossible for him to stably withstand this immense power. Instantly, he felt a sharp pain in his chest, a sweet taste in his throat, and a mouthful of golden blood gushed out. His ether was in such a chaotic state that it was almost out of control. The golden light of the Judgment of Light flickered, and he staggered back half a step. Several fine golden lines were burned on his arm by the backlash energy, and a piercing pain came from it.
Even more terrifying, the energy shockwave from the fragments shattered the surrounding rocks, sending the debris flying everywhere with the power of creation. Several sharp pieces of debris grazed Lina's arm, leaving a deep wound that exposed bone. The golden light of the purification jade pendant was violently shaken by the shockwave, and fine cracks appeared on its surface, making it almost too hot to touch.
Just then, a chilling aura suddenly emanated from the mist, accompanied by a sinister laugh, "Looks like I'm still a step too late."
The three of them turned around abruptly and looked in the direction from which the aura came. They saw a dark figure slowly emerge from the mist, surrounded by a dark power and tainted ether that was even more intense than that of Mok. His eyes were as cold as ice. It was none other than the escaped Kalon!
He was accompanied by several dragon demon warriors, their auras powerful; they were clearly reinforcements he had specially summoned.
Gavin's eyes narrowed, and his body erupted with light ether, shielding Lynn and Lina. "Karon, you've finally come."
Kalon sneered, his gaze fixed on the fragment of the Tower of Eternity, his eyes filled with greed and cruelty.
"Gavin, hand over the fragments, and I might spare your lives."
Otherwise, the three of you will remain in Blackrock Valley forever, as sacrifices to my Dragon Demon Alliance!
Before he finished speaking, he had already been intently watching the energy fluctuations of the fragment. Taking advantage of the instant the fragment's white light surged and it unleashed a golden shockwave, he suddenly flashed, transforming into a dark afterimage, and pounced towards Lynn behind Gavin.
He precisely seized the gap in the impact of the fragments, using the shockwave to interfere with Gavin's perception. At the same time, he condensed a shadow blade in his hand, carrying a dense, filthy ether, and thrust it straight at Lynn's back.
At this moment, Lynn was suffering from the backlash of the ether and was unsteady on his feet. He had no time to guard against this sudden sneak attack, and the chill of the Shadow Blade was already approaching his back.
Lynn gripped the Judgment of Light tightly, a sharp glint in his eyes. The fragment was right in front of him, and he would never let Caron take it away.
Just as he was about to activate his ether to defend himself, the excruciating pain in his chest struck again. His ether was too chaotic to condense, so he could only barely dodge to the side. The Shadow Blade grazed his shoulder, taking away a piece of flesh. The black, filthy ether instantly seeped into the wound, sending a piercing, corrosive pain through him.
Lina also gathered the remaining ethereal light within her and hurriedly unleashed a blade of light, repelling Charon's sneak attack. Standing shoulder to shoulder with Lynn, her eyes were resolute yet betrayed her panic: "Lynn, be careful! Charon is using the chaos of the fragments to ambush us!"
Gavin had already sensed Caron's plot. The instant Caron moved, Gavin disregarded his own unstable breathing and abruptly turned to meet him.
The light barrier around him was already riddled with cracks. When he forcibly activated the ether, the barrier instantly shattered, turning into countless golden light fragments that scattered across the sky. His chest heaved violently, and a sweet taste rose in his throat. A mouthful of blood slid down the corner of his mouth and dripped onto the ground, where it was instantly eroded away by the surrounding malevolent energy.
He used up the last of his high-level light ether within him, and a faint but condensed golden light emanated from his body. He slashed out a condensed golden blade of light with his light sword, aiming straight for Kalon's back.
This attack nearly exhausted most of his remaining ether; his arm trembled slightly from the exertion, and even his grip on the sword was somewhat unsteady. Yet, the blade remained swift and deadly, whistling through the air, precisely predicting Charon's evasive trajectory after his sneak attack.
Gavin knew Caron's treacherous nature well and had anticipated that he would take advantage of the gaps in the debris impact to launch an attack, so he had prepared in advance.
Caron sensed the killing intent behind him, his expression changed drastically, and he hastily abandoned his sneak attack, turning around to parry with his Shadow Blade.
A crisp "clang"
The golden light blade and the shadow blade collided violently, sparking dazzling sparks. Karon was forced back three steps by the impact of the light blade, his palms went numb, and a tiny crack even appeared on the shadow blade.
Gavin seized the opportunity to step forward, barely managing to conjure a thin barrier of light around himself, protecting Lynn and Lina behind him. His breathing became increasingly erratic, the wound in his chest throbbed with pain from the exertion, and beads of sweat trickled down his face, dripping onto his sword. Yet, his eyes remained cold, his tone resolute, carrying an undeniable air of authority.
"Kalon, if you want to ambush my disciple, you'll have to get past me first!"
Lena watched Gavin's unsteady figure, her heart tightening. Ignoring the excruciating pain from the wound on her arm, cold sweat instantly soaked her hair, and her face turned as pale as a sheet of paper.
She clenched her teeth, her lower lip bleeding from the bite, her body trembling slightly uncontrollably. She forced her eyes closed and used all her strength to activate the last remaining sliver of light ether.
A faint golden halo emanated from her fingertips, so dim it was almost swallowed by the surrounding malevolent energy. Her fingertips twitched slightly from overdrawing her ether, making even maintaining the halo extremely difficult. This power was extremely weak, not even enough to repair Gavin's damaged barrier of light, but it was enough to barely stabilize his disordered ether and alleviate the excruciating pain in his chest.
The moment the ether was transmitted, Lina shuddered, felt a sweet taste in her throat, and a mouthful of faint blood oozed from the corner of her mouth. Her vision blurred, she swayed, and almost collapsed.
Lynn was already suffering from the backlash of the power of creation, and the stinging pain in his chest intensified. The golden burning marks on his arm were still faintly hot, and he needed the support of the Judgment of Light to even stand. Yet, he still mustered all his strength to reach out and firmly hold Lina's arm. A very faint and unstable golden light unconsciously appeared on his palm.
This was a tiny wisp that he had painstakingly separated from his already chaotic and nearly depleted ether, which slowly seeped into Lina's body through his palm. Even he felt a surge of intense pain in his chest because of this slight movement, a trace of golden blood spilled from the corner of his mouth, and the faint light at his fingertips trembled, then dimmed in an instant, almost being covered by the surrounding malevolent energy.
This wisp of power was extremely weak, barely enough to help Lina stabilize her body and slightly alleviate the dizziness caused by her overexertion of ether. It was not enough to completely improve her condition. Instead, it made Lynn's own aura more disordered, and his body swayed as well.
He didn't speak, but gently gestured to Lina with his eyes to "hold on." The determination in his eyes concealed an undeniable weakness, and even his fingertips felt slightly numb due to the backlash and the depletion of his ether.
Gavin felt the warmth from behind him, paused slightly, turned his head to look at Lina, a hint of relief and heartache flashing in his eyes, but he didn't turn around, only whispering:
"Lina, don't push yourself. Just protect yourself and Lynn."
Lina shook her head, her voice so weak it was almost inaudible, yet carrying an unwavering determination:
"Mentor, we'll fight together. We'll never let you carry this alone!"
Lynn, standing to the side, gritted his teeth and slowly withdrew the faint light from his palm. He used his remaining strength to barely gather the chaotic ether onto the Judgment of Light. The numbness in his fingertips became more and more obvious. Although the three of them were in dire straits, they still stood side by side, their auras intertwined, forming a weak but firm line of light.
The mist in Blackrock Valley churned once more, and malevolent energy and tainted ether reformed, bringing with it the danger that had just subsided.
The reinforcements brought by Kalon were all formidable. Gavin was still recovering from his injuries, and the counterattack just now had exhausted most of his ether. At this moment, his aura was so weak that he could barely maintain the Light Barrier. Blood kept seeping from the wound on his chest, and he even needed to slightly support the Light Sword to keep his balance.
Lynn and Lina's ethereal energy was severely depleted; one suffered a backlash, and the other was seriously injured, making their situation increasingly difficult. Even more troublesome was that the fragment of the Tower of Eternity was now on the verge of completely spiraling out of control.
White light and black energy surged alternately, and golden patterns like electric currents appeared on the surface, emitting a piercing buzzing sound. When the buzzing sound was sharp, it hurt people's eardrums. Lina was already weak, and at this moment she was even more dizzy and could hardly stand up.
Its energy disorder became increasingly violent. Each burst of white light would unleash a golden shockwave, shattering the surrounding rocks and creating numerous deep craters in the ground. The black iron spikes that were not fully retracted were carried by the energy and shot out like arrows, attacking everything present without distinguishing friend from foe.
When the black energy surges back and the white light dims, the fragments release black ice particles carrying malevolent energy. These particles freeze instantly upon contact with the skin, damaging the meridians. Two dragon warriors beside Kalon were accidentally struck by the ice particles, their scales instantly freezing and shattering, emitting mournful screams.
Even more fatally, the fragment requires a continuous supply of pure, luminous ether to remain stable. After being backlashed, Lynn was unable to continuously inject ether, and the black cracks on the surface of the fragment were constantly expanding, gradually turning its crystalline texture murky. Once the cracks spread to the entire fragment, the power of creation would completely leak out, at which point the entire Blackrock Valley would be leveled by the energy shockwave.
Caron, on the other hand, took advantage of the chaos of the fragments to launch a sneak attack. Every time a fragment exploded and impacted, he would seize the opportunity to launch a fierce attack, either to ambush the unsteady Lynnina or to restrain Gavin, allowing reinforcements to get closer to the fragments, hoping to reap the benefits.
The sneak attack was blocked by Gavin with his life, and a sinister glint flashed in Kalon's eyes. However, he did not back down. Instead, he gave a wink to the dragon demon reinforcements beside him, signaling them to take the opportunity to attack. He then kept a close eye on the energy fluctuations of the fragment, preparing to look for the next opportunity to launch a sneak attack.
Gavin stood in front of Lynn and Lina, his sword of light trembling slightly, his aura growing increasingly unstable, and more and more blood appearing on his chest, yet his eyes remained resolute as he held Karon firmly in check; Lina leaned against Lynn, her fingertips still wreathed in faint light energy, intermittently replenishing Gavin's ether.
Lynn gripped the Judgment of Light tightly, watching the approaching dragon demon reinforcements warily. The three supported each other, and even though they were in dire straits, they never retreated in the slightest.
