Chapter 25 Warwick the Werewolf
Warwick's eyes twitched as he looked at the four or five people lying at the entrance of the alley, the strange Behemoth standing beside the corpses as strong as an iron tower, and a human who was incredibly handsome.
It feels really awful right now.
Damn it, it had just had a few drinks and was a little in need of peeing, so it wanted to find a quiet alley to relieve itself, but instead it ran into two jinxes.
Unexpectedly, the alcohol wore off before I could even urinate.
Stared at by the two jinxes, it pretended not to see them and slowly turned around to leave.
Richard smiled and made a gesture.
"Stop right there!" Sid said, his eyes fixed on the Wolf werewolf. "Get over here!"
Warwick was furious!
I just got kicked out of the hotel because I had no money, and you want me to get kicked out a second time?!
I've dealt with the Bearmen of the Pier tribe before, just because they're a little fat doesn't mean they can act like bulls!
Warwick walked over with a cold look in his eyes. He was short of money anyway, so he decided to borrow some from these two jinxes. His knife was already itching for a bite.
"Don't do that, West Germany." Richard chuckled and patted the panda warrior's arm, saying, "The Behemoths are all one family. This kind of talk can easily cause conflict and ruin harmony. Peace should be the most important thing among the Behemoths."
"They say meeting is fate, and we're just short-handed," Richard said amiably to the werewolf. "Warrior Wolf, how about you do us a favor and help us transport these corpses to Flea Market to dispose of them? It won't be for nothing; how about two and a half gold coins as a reward?"
Warwick was stunned. What the hell?
After thinking it over carefully, it realized that it was just moving a few dead people, and the reward was so high; it was practically making a killing.
Moreover, these two are capable of killing four or five people and still dare to flaunt their wealth in front of it, so they must have some strength. Let's just let its blade continue to thirst for blood for now.
"I'll help, but not a penny less!" Warwick nodded coldly with an air of expertise and agreed.
It walked in from the alley entrance, and after its eyes adjusted to the light inside, its view suddenly opened up.
Warwick looked into the alley and fell silent.
Damn it, there were more than a dozen corpses inside, their deaths were incredibly gruesome, you could practically etch the word "tragic" into their faces.
It saw several familiar faces inside, and it remembered that these were the mercenaries it had met at the inn earlier.
Where did these two killer stars come from?!
"I can't help you with this," Warwick finally said after a long pause.
"I can help," Richard said with a smile.
Warwick's face twitched, his gaze shifting back and forth between the pile of corpses and Richard's smiling face.
It really wants to slap itself right now.
I told you not to pretend to be a bourgeoisie, and I told you not to be greedy for those two and a half gold coins.
"I said I can't help, and I mean it." Warwick tried one last time: "With so many corpses, how long would it take me to move them all by myself? Besides, Flea Street is three blocks away from here. You expect me, a lone Wolf, to carry corpses around town?"
"That makes sense." Richard nodded.
Warwick's eyes lit up.
"So you can borrow a wheelbarrow and find a few sacks," Richard's smile remained unchanged. "I'll pay you ten silver coins as a deposit, and you can have the rest after you've finished helping."
Is the problem with the wheelbarrow now?
Before Warwick could come up with a solution, ten scalding hot silver coins were shoved into his hand.
"Go and come back quickly, time waits for no one. If these corpses are discovered, we're doomed," Richard said.
Warwick thought for a moment, "I'll just take the money and run away. Do you think you can find me in Baiya?"
So it didn't stand on ceremony, simply shoved the silver coin into its pocket, and turned to leave.
Leaving the treehouse bar street, Warwick kicked at the pebbles on the roadside and couldn't help but ponder for a moment: ten silver coins wouldn't be enough for him for several days.
A little money goes to accommodation, a little to food, and then a few drinks and a pretty girl, and it's all gone.
Two or more gold coins would be enough for him to live comfortably for at least a month.
How about we borrow a wheelbarrow? Gold coins aren't so easy to earn.
……
Richard withdrew his gaze, squatted down, and began to examine the corpse on the ground.
While helping to loot the corpse, Sid asked, "Sir, are you really letting him go so easily? What if this Wolf werewolf takes the money and runs away?"
"It will." Richard didn't even look up. He skillfully untied a money pouch from a mercenary's waist, opened it, and found only a few silver coins left. He casually stuffed it into his own pocket.
Even the smallest mosquito is still meat; only those in charge know the true value of oil and rice.
West Germany asked no more questions and began collecting the weapons scattered on the ground by the mercenaries.
These weapons are of decent quality; they could fetch a good amount of money even if sold as scrap.
Richard eventually put all of these weapons into his inventory.
After a brief moment of surprise, West Germany was no longer astonished.
Space equipment is absolutely unattainable top-tier magical equipment for ordinary people, but it is perfectly reasonable for a prince to possess it.
Richard pulled a short knife from the last mercenary's boot, wiped the blood off the corpse's clothes, examined the blade in the moonlight, and tossed it into his inventory with satisfaction.
Then he stood up, walked to the alley entrance, and looked out.
It was empty outside, there was nothing there.
"Wait a moment," Richard said.
After a while, the sound of a wheelbarrow's wheels rolling over the stone slabs came from outside the alley.
Creak, creak, creak.
The sound was getting closer.
Richard and Sid looked towards the alley entrance at the same time.
Warwick appeared at the alley entrance pushing a dilapidated wheelbarrow with several sacks piled on it.
The werewolf was slightly out of breath, clearly having run there and run back.
It parked its wheelbarrow at the alley entrance and looked up to meet Richard's gaze.
Warwick's expression was priceless.
"What are you looking at?" it said. "I drove all over the street to borrow this piece of junk."
Richard smiled.
"Here's a gold coin." He strode over and patted the handlebars of the wheelbarrow. "If you transport the body to Flea Street and dump it there, I'll round it up to three gold coins for you. How about that? Consider it Behemoth helping Behemoth."
"Fine." Warwick thought to himself, since things had already come to this point, he might as well see it through to the end.
Once everything is settled, it will have enough money to leave the Kingdom of Empe and go to the mercenary kingdom of Dorot to make a living.
So it pushed the wheelbarrow into the alley, started stuffing the corpses into sacks, and then pushed it to Flea Street.
This is a dark and chaotic street, inhabited by countless thugs and refugees, a place even Bai Ya's sheriff wouldn't bother with.
It's commonplace for dozens of people to die every day.
Warwick pushed the cart uphill, avoided people and took back roads, and almost got caught by patrolling soldiers several times.
It had no idea why time had been passing so slowly, but it managed to get through it eventually.
As the corpse was dumped into the sewers of Flea Street, it got the remaining gold coins it wanted.
Just as it was thinking about returning the wheelbarrow, Richard kicked it away, sending it flying into the wall and turning it into a pile of trash.
Warwick was stunned.
