Chapter 116 The Centaur's Sincere Gratitude

Chapter 116 The Centaur's Sincere Gratitude

Midnight.

Elaine and the others followed Hagrid to the vicinity of the centaur tribe.

Just as they rounded a tree so large that it would take three people to encircle it, the sound of hooves suddenly came from the shadows of the forest.

Immediately afterwards, several dark figures leaped out.

Elaine, Harry, and Ron were prepared and not surprised, but they stared wide-eyed at the newcomer.

In the dim moonlight and the glow of the oil lamp in his hand, the appearance of the newcomer was clearly visible.

Their upper bodies are human, their lower bodies are horses, and they even have a standard horse tail growing from their rear ends.

It's the legendary centaur!

These centaurs were naked from the waist up, boldly displaying their strong physiques, with their chest and abdominal muscles clearly visible.

If Myrtle were here, she'd probably be drooling with envy.

They carried weapons; some had bows and arrows on their backs, some held swords, and others carried hammers or axes, their faces filled with caution.

"They are centaurs!"

Hagrid gave a brief explanation, then took two steps forward and called out to the centaurs, "It's me! My centaur friends, how are you?"

"Didn't you say last night that you wanted to formally express your gratitude to your savior?"

"I've brought him here now!"

As soon as the words were spoken, a centaur with red hair, a red beard, and a brownish-red body stepped out from the procession.

He is Ronan.

"Hagrid, you've finally arrived."

Ronan nodded to Hagrid as a greeting, then looked at Elaine and the other two.

"Is this the heroic little wizard who saved my people?!"

His gaze swept over the three faces several times before he finally turned to those behind him and asked, "Which one was it again?"

Two centaurs stepped out from the line behind him.

Elaine recognized them as the two unfortunate men he had rescued from the poachers the night before.

The two centaurs' gazes fell on Elavin and his two companions, scrutinizing their faces for over ten seconds.

It wasn't until they noticed that the three of them had different hair colors that a look of delight appeared on their faces.

"It's that blond human wizard!"

As they talked, the two walked over to Elaine and bowed respectfully.

"Hello, my benefactor!"

"It was our fault that we didn't have a chance to thank you last night."

"I asked Hagrid to invite you to meet today so I could express my gratitude in person!"

"We know this behavior may be very presumptuous, and if it has caused you any trouble, please allow us to apologize—"

"The two horsemen were very sincere and friendly, quite different from last night."

But that's normal.

You know, they were almost abducted last night. Anyone would be shocked if that happened to them!

Elivin raised his hand slightly and helped the two centaurs up: "Gentlemen, you're too kind. Last night, I intervened mainly to drive out the evil forces that were trespassing in the Forbidden Forest. Saving them was just something I did on the side. It's nothing much."

The more nonchalant he appeared, the more admiring and grateful the two centaurs became.

Even so, thank you very much.

"If it weren't for your intervention, we might have been captured, enslaved, tortured, and exploited by those despicable poachers!!"

Poachers capture exotic animals for only a few purposes: to eat them, to make medicine, or to play with them for amusement.

Centaurs, as highly intelligent humanoid beings, are generally only captured for play.

They might be chained up and locked in cages to perform circuses for people to watch.

They might be captured and forced to fight ferocious beasts like fire dragons or black wizards, becoming the objects of gambling for the wealthy;

They might even be captured and used for training, emotional venting, or biological genetic research by certain wizards with peculiar interests.

In short, it won't end well.

"We have prepared a grand feast at home. Would our benefactor be willing to come and let us treat him to a proper meal?"

"Isn't this a bit inappropriate?"

Elaine feigned hesitation, "I've heard that some centaurs are very averse to interacting with humans. If you are ostracized by other tribes for thanking me, it will make my conscience uneasy."

Upon hearing this, the light emanating from all the centaurs present changed as they looked at Elavin.

It was a kind of appreciation, a kind of respect, a kind of indescribable recognition.

"My God, he's such a gentleman!"

"This little wizard has the air of an ancient knight; I love him so much!"

"His kindness alone is enough to shut up all those who reject interaction with humans!"

The two centaurs were so moved that their eyes almost bubbled with tears.

"Please don't say that, my benefactor."

"Admittedly, there are a very few individuals in the centaur tribe who hold conservative views, but that does not mean that all centaurs are like that."

"At least to us, you are a trustworthy and worthy person to associate with!"

Please accept our invitation!

"Don't worry, I will stay by your side at all times and ensure your safety."

"If any ignorant centaur dares to speak disrespectfully to you, I will fight to the death to make them pay!"

His voice was powerful and resolute, and his self-confidence was firm and unwavering.

Although saving the centaur was not Elivin's original intention, he was objectively the centaur's savior, and he could certainly accept the gratitude.

Elaine thought for a moment, then pointed to Harry and Ron beside him: "Oh right, they're my friends, I don't know—"

The two centaurs immediately said, "Our benefactor's friends are our friends too, of course they can come along!"

Elaine smiled slightly: "In that case, I'll take my leave."

Led by the centaur, Elaine and his group moved toward the centaur tribe not far away.

Along the way, the two sides introduced themselves to each other.

The two centaurs who were rescued were named Kyle and Valen, and they were brothers.

"My name is Elaine Yakut, a first-year student at Hufflepuff House, Hogwarts."

"They are Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, who are also first-year students like me, but from Gryffindor House."

"As for Hagrid, you should know him better than I do."

The centaurs clearly remembered the name Harry.

"Harry—Harry Potter, is that right?"

"I think I recognize that name. Are you the little wizard who defeated the mysterious man?"

"So you're Elaine's friend too—"

"Uh—yes—" Harry seemed a little flustered.

After coming into contact with the magical world, he often received a lot of attention because of his identity as a "savior".

Tonight is the first time I've received respect because of my status as "Elevit's friend."

"Do you know me?"

Ron must have been out of his mind to suddenly jump out and humiliate himself.

"What's your name again? Roland Witherby? Sorry, I've never heard of that name before."

Ron: "————"
