Chapter 106 When I'm bored, I eat a child.
Chiron didn't know how he got to the entrance to the underworld.
All that echoed in his ears were the dying screams of the goddesses, a never-ending tide.
The waters of the River Styx flowed slowly before me, and I mechanically stepped into them.
"stop."
A cold female voice rose from the river, followed by the churning of the dark water, and a slender figure slowly emerged from the water.
Styx, the ruler of the River Styx, the guardian of the entrance to the underworld, and the goddess of oaths and hatred.
She recognized the person who had come, and the wariness between her brows relaxed slightly.
"Chiron?"
Styx looked at the centaur before him, his tone filled with obvious surprise: "How did you end up in the Underworld?"
"Why are you looking like this—what happened?"
Chiron looked up at her, his eyes revealing undisguised sorrow.
"I want to see Oceanus," Chiron said hoarsely. "I want to see Him."
Styx frowned, stepped out of the river, and approached Chiron, placing her hand on his trembling shoulder. "Tell me, what happened?"
Chiron's lips trembled a few times, and finally he squeezed out a painful sentence through gritted teeth: "The Ocean Goddess—countless dead and wounded."
Styx's hand froze on the sleeve's shoulder.
"What did you say?" Her voice suddenly rose, her pupils dilating sharply. "The Ocean Goddesses? What happened to them?"
"King Cronus has sent me to inform Oceanus—"
Chiron closed his eyes in anguish: "If Oceanus does not go to the sacred mountain to apologize within a day, He will destroy all the children of Oceanus in this world."
Styx's face turned deathly pale instantly.
Deep in the underworld, Oceanus and Tethys stared in astonishment at Styx before them. Oceanus couldn't help but frown: "Why are you here?"
"Father God."
Styx's voice trembled as she stepped aside, fully exposing Chiron behind her to their view: "Chiron brings news from the sacred mountain."
Oceanus's gaze fell on Chiron, noticing his bloodshot eyes and ashen face. He opened his mouth, but before he could ask anything, Chiron had already knelt down.
He lowered his head, not daring to look Oceanus in the eyes.
"The Ocean Goddesses—" Chiron's voice trembled, each word uttered with all his might: "They—they—"
'
Realizing something, Tethys stood up, her eyes fixed on Chiron, her lips turning pale.
"What happened to them?"
Tethys's voice was soft, yet it carried something on the verge of collapse: "Chiron, my daughters—what's wrong?"
'
Chiron raised his eyes and glanced at her, but only for a moment before lowering his head again.
"Countless people have died or been injured," He said.
After a brief silence, Tethys let out a scream.
Her body leaned backward, and if Oceanus hadn't caught her, she would have almost fallen onto the cold ground.
She gripped her husband's arm tightly with both hands, her nails digging into the flesh of his sleeves, but she was completely unaware of it. Her whole body was trembling violently, and tears streamed down her face like a burst dam.
"My daughters—my daughters—" Her voice was broken and intermittent, so painful that she could barely speak.
Oceanus's hand, supporting his wife, was trembling.
It wasn't just because of sadness, but also because of anger.
Chiron didn't dare look at the reactions of the two men and repeated Cronus's words again.
After hearing this, Tethys cried until he almost fainted, while Oceanus closed his eyes and his chest heaved violently.
Taking a deep breath, Oceanus finally opened his eyes and gritted his teeth, saying, "I'm going to the sacred mountain."
"I'll go with you," Tethys said without hesitation.
Oceanus did not refuse, because they knew that Cronus's target was only them, and that as long as they went to the sacred mountain, Cronus would spare the already weak goddesses.
But just then, a slender figure blocked their way.
Metis stood in their way, his voice urgent: "Father, Mother, you cannot go."
Oceanus didn't stop: "Make way, Metis."
"Father, calm down and think about it. Why did Cronus send you to the sacred mountain? He wants your laws, your and Mother's power. Going there is suicide. If you die, He will come to deal with the Underworld next—"
"I said get out of the way!"
Oceanus could no longer contain himself and roared in a low voice, "Are you going to make me stand by and watch all your sisters be destroyed?!"
"Father, please, let's tell Prometheus about this first. He is the god of prophecy; he will surely have a way—"
"I can't wait any longer!" Oceanus roared. "Your sisters are dying one by one, they are turning into blood on the sea!"
Metis bit her lip, opened her mouth as if to say something, but Oceanus had already raised his hand.
Oceanus's palm is broad and thick, containing the power of the world's ocean currents and tides.
The divine power was not violent; it could even be described as gentle. Yet, the moment Metis's body came into contact with that power, it went limp as if all its strength had been drained away.
She fell backward, but Styx caught her in his arms.
Oceanus looked down at his unconscious daughter, and a barely perceptible hint of tenderness finally appeared on his face, which was as hard as rock.
He reached out and gently brushed the stray hairs from Metis's forehead, his touch as tender as if he were caressing the newborn baby from years ago.
"Styx." He raised his eyes to look at the goddess of oaths, his voice hoarse and deep: "Take good care of her for me."
Styx's eyes were red-rimmed. He wanted to say something but ultimately said nothing, only nodding vigorously.
On the sacred mountain.
Cronus sat on his tall throne, one hand supporting his chin, gazing listlessly at the distant ocean.
He didn't even turn around to look at the person, but just squinted slightly as the sea breeze blew by, as if admiring some pleasant scenery.
"You've arrived," He said casually, as if he didn't care at all.
Oceanus released Tethys's hand and took a step forward.
With red eyes, she stared intently at the figure on the throne, her voice hoarse and filled with deep-seated hatred.
"We're here. Let those children go."
Cronus finally turned his head, a cryptic smile playing on his lips, as if watching some amusing trick.
"What wonderful parents!"
His tone was undisguisedly sarcastic: "I sent Chiron to inform you that you had a whole day, but how long has it been and you've already come running here."
Xiu stood up and slowly walked down from the throne. With each step she took, the golden light beneath her feet intensified.
"Since that's the case—"
He raised his hand, and golden divine power began to gather in his palm, the light of which was dazzling: "Then you will die in place of those useless trash."
"Father God!"
A figure suddenly rushed in front of Oceanus and his wife.
It is Chiron.
The centaur with the head of a man and the body of a horse spread its arms and used its body to block the golden light.
"Father, I beg you!" Chiron's voice trembled. "They have come, they have done as you said! Please spare them, please—"
Cronus paused for a moment, and the golden light stopped three inches in front of Chiron.
The God-King frowned, looking at his usually gentle and respectful son, his tone revealing a hint of impatience.
"Get out of my way, Chiron."
"Father!" Chiron didn't move, his voice almost pleading, "So many of their daughters are gone, please—"
""
"I said get out of here," Kronos's voice turned cold.
"I won't allow it." Chiron gritted his teeth, something welling up in his eyes. "Father, I beg you, for Mother's sake..."
Before He could finish speaking, a golden force struck Xiu's chest, sending Chiron flying and crashing heavily into a stone pillar at the edge of the platform.
The stone pillar shattered with a crash, and Chiron was smashed into the rubble, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth. He struggled a few times but couldn't get up.
Cronus didn't even glance at Him.
His gaze returned to Oceanus and Tethys, and the golden light in his palm shone once more.
This time, there was no hesitation, no pause.
The principle of division unfolds within the sleeve.
Painful screams rang out in an instant. Oceanus and Tethys were completely unable to resist this terrifying power and could only let out miserable howls in vain.
Chiron lay on the rubble, covered in blood, his limbs trembling as he tried to stand up, but slipped and fell again and again.
Seeing this scene before him, tears finally welled up in his eyes, and he roared desperately, "Cronus!"
"You cruel and heartless tyrant! They are all your brothers and sisters, you madman! You are more cruel than Uranus, you..."
"What did you say?"
Cronus slowly tilted his head and asked, word by word.
..
Ferrura has been feeling rather uneasy lately.
She sat at an exquisite stone table, with a plate of meat in front of her.
The meat was carefully cooked, its surface roasted to an enticing golden brown, the fat sizzling between the grains of meat, and sprinkled evenly with chopped herbs, emitting a mouthwatering aroma.
She had just eaten a piece, which was delicious, but strangely, she couldn't muster any interest in it.
Cronus sat opposite her, resting his chin on his hand, watching her eat with a smile.
"Is it good?" Kronos asked, his voice low and gentle.
Ferrura nodded and replied meekly, "Delicious, very delicious."
"That's good."
Cronus leaned back in his chair, his smile deepening. He tilted his head to look at Philura, as if admiring a fine work of art: "It's good to eat."
He paused, as if considering his words, or perhaps enjoying some secret pleasure.
"Do you know what kind of meat this is?"
Ferrura shook her head honestly, looking at Cronus with a puzzled expression.
Kronos smiled slightly and said casually, "This is horse meat."
The chopsticks slipped from her fingers, and the delicate ocean goddess stared in astonishment.
