The atmosphere at the dinner table became somewhat subtle because of that compliment.

Chen Hao felt a little embarrassed by Lin Caiwei's words and touched his nose:

"You flatter me. It's just some ordinary home cooking, nothing special."

"If this is how you make it at home, then restaurants won't need to stay in business," Lin Caiwei said, cutting off another small piece of sandwich and putting it in her mouth to savor it.

It's not that she's never eaten good food before.

Over the years, I've traveled all over the country and eaten at many Michelin three-star restaurants.

But the breakfast Chen Hao made truly amazed her.

It's not the kind of dazzling, technically impressive kind of amazing, but rather... how should I put it, it's the kind of amazing that you can taste the sincerity and care put into it.

Every dish was just right, with precise seasoning and perfect cooking time.

More importantly, she could sense that the dishes were specially designed for this breakfast—

Nutritional balance, flavor balance, and even the aesthetic presentation were all taken into consideration.

This is not a breakfast that was just made casually.

As Lin Caiwei ate, her gaze unconsciously drifted towards Sisi.

The little one is sitting in a high chair, earnestly eating steamed egg with a spoon.

She moved very steadily, spooning the food one spoonful at a time, hardly spilling any.

Occasionally, when she eats shrimp, she'll happily wiggle her little feet.

This scene made Lin Caiwei stop eating with her knife and fork.

She remembered clearly that when she left a month ago, Sisi was not very good at eating by herself.

Back then, I had to be fed by the nanny every time I ate, and the table was often covered in food.

She tried to teach Sisi to eat by herself, but she was always impatient—either she was in a hurry to rush to her schedule, or she couldn't help but help Sisi eat slowly.

But now...

"Sisi," Lin Caiwei asked softly, "you're eating by yourself now?"

Sisi looked up, a little bit of steamed egg still stuck to the corner of her mouth.

She nodded vigorously: "Yes! Dad taught me!"

"How did your father teach you?"

"Dad said that Sisi is a big girl now and needs to learn to eat by herself," Sisi said seriously.

"At first, Sisi couldn't eat well and would spill food. But her dad said it was okay, she could take it slowly."

Dad also taught Sisi how to hold a spoon, how to scoop rice, and how to put it in her mouth.

As she spoke, she demonstrated to Lin Caiwei—holding the middle of the spoon handle with her little hand, she scooped up a spoonful of porridge, steadily brought it to her mouth, opened her mouth, and ate it.

The entire movement was fluid and natural.

As Lin Caiwei watched, a feeling she couldn't quite describe welled up inside her.

It's a feeling of relief, pride, and also a little bit of... bittersweetness.

"Besides eating, what else has your father taught you?" she asked.

Sisi put down her spoon and started counting on her fingers: "Dad also taught Sisi to dress herself! In the morning, Sisi can put on her underwear, socks, and pants by herself."

The top was a bit difficult, but Dad taught Sisi a method, and now Sisi can do it too!

"And taking off clothes! When taking a bath, Sisi can take off her clothes by herself and then put the dirty clothes in the laundry basket."

"And bath time! Dad taught Sisi how to use shower gel, how to wash her hair, and how to rinse it clean."

Dad also bought Sisi a non-slip mat and a small stool so she wouldn't slip and fall.

"And tidying up the toys! Every night before going to bed, Sisi tidies up her toys."

Dad said, "These are Sisi's own things; she needs to learn to manage them herself."

The little guy spoke with great enthusiasm, and with each story he told, Lin Caiwei's surprise grew.

One month.

In just one month, Chen Hao not only taught Sisi so many life skills, but more importantly, he taught her independence and self-confidence.

She could see that "I can do it" gleam in the little guy's eyes, something she had rarely seen before.

Lin Caiwei looked at Chen Hao.

Chen Hao was drinking coffee when he noticed her gaze. He looked up and smiled, "Kids learn quickly, mainly because Sisi is smart."

"No," Lin Caiwei shook her head, "it's because you taught me well."

She said this in a very serious tone.

As a mother, she knew all too well how difficult it was to teach her children these things.

It requires patience, methods, and, most importantly, perseverance day after day.

Because of her work, she pushed all these responsibilities onto the nanny, and now she's pushing them onto Chen Hao.

Now that she sees the results, she is both happy and somewhat... guilty.

Breakfast continued amidst mixed emotions.

While eating, Lin Caiwei observed the interaction between Sisi and Chen Hao.

She discovered that Sisi's dependence on and closeness to Chen Hao far exceeded her expectations.

The little one would naturally share the shrimp in her bowl with Chen Hao, saying, "Dad, try this," and saying "Thank you, Dad" when Chen Hao wiped her mouth.

The intimacy and trust revealed in these interactions cannot be faked.

What touched Lin Caiwei even more was Chen Hao's response.

His way of treating Sisi was neither like those parents who spoil their children, nor like those strict fathers.

He would listen patiently to Sisi, answer her whimsical questions seriously, affirm her when she did well, and gently correct her when she made a mistake.

This way of getting along allowed Sisi to fully accept this suddenly appearing father in just one month.

Lin Caiwei felt that bittersweet feeling well up inside her again.

She knew she shouldn't be like this—she should be happy that Chen Hao was good to Sisi.

But seeing the natural intimacy between her daughter and father, she couldn't help but wonder: if she had been the one to accompany Sisi as she grew up for the past three years, would Sisi have been just as close to her?

This thought made her feel uneasy.

After finishing the last bite of tiramisu, Lin Caiwei put down her spoon.

Chen Hao stood up and began clearing away the dishes.

"I'll do it," Lin Caiwei said.

"It's okay, it'll be quick." Chen Hao stacked the empty plates.

"You two chat. Sisi, talk to Mom."

"Okay!" Sisi climbed down from her high chair and ran to Lin Caiwei's side. "Mommy, Sisi has so much to tell you!"

Lin Caiwei lifted Sisi onto her lap, and looking into her daughter's bright eyes, the bittersweet feeling in her heart was gradually replaced by warmth.

No matter what, the most important thing is for my daughter to grow up healthy and happy.

Chen Hao put the dishes into the dishwasher and then wiped the table.

After finishing all that, he returned to the restaurant and saw Sisi nestled in Lin Caiwei's arms, whispering something.

Lin Caiwei listened with her head down, a gentle smile on her face.

This scene is beautiful.

Chen Hao stood at the door, not disturbing the conversation.

A few minutes later, Lin Caiwei looked up, saw Chen Hao, and smiled: "All ready?"

"Hmm." Chen Hao walked over. "What are you guys talking about?"

"Sisi is telling me about kindergarten." Lin Caiwei stroked her daughter's hair.

"She said the teacher praised her because she can sing English songs."

Chen Hao sat down opposite her: "Sisi learns things very quickly. She can already have simple conversations in English."

Lin Caiwei looked at her daughter in her arms in surprise: "Really?"
