Chapter 119 Revenge

Rhodes and Messiah walked out of the blacksmith shop.

Messiah paid a blacksmith in the blacksmith's shop to make a full set of armor for Rhodes, excluding the breastplate, and also selected a bread iron shield according to Rhodes's size.

It cost them over five hundred gold coins, and the blacksmith told them to come back in seven days to collect it.

Rhodes didn't know why Messiah had so much money on her.

The knightly jousting tournament is not scheduled until October, but registration is still open now.

Afterwards, Rhodes and Messiah went to the town hall to register for the knightly jousting tournament, and the official in charge of registration gave him an iron plaque.

"Thank you so much," Rod said gratefully as they walked out of the city hall.

"It's nothing, it didn't cost much. As long as we win the team championship, I can earn the money back," Misell said.

Rhodes decided to go back and continue his rigorous training, determined to win the team championship. Apart from the winning team, the other teams received no prize money at all.

After we finish these tasks, it will still be early, probably around three or four o'clock in the afternoon.

"Let's go buy the ingredients now and cook something," Rod said.

"Won't you walk around a bit more?" Messil asked.

"Okay, I was just worried you'd be too impatient to eat," Rod said.

"I'm fine with anything, it doesn't matter if I go back a little later," Misell said.

"Let's just walk around then."

Neither of them said a word, and they began to wander aimlessly through the streets.

Rod regretted not bringing Miles along; the atmosphere was awkward with just the two of them, a man and a woman, having nothing to talk about. If Miles were here, he could at least talk to him about what happened during the morning's game, and if he didn't get angry.

The houses in Gulfstream are built neatly, row upon row, and all have orange-red roofs, which looks much more comfortable than the brown and black houses in Nord.

The main streets were paved with bluestone slabs, while the narrow paths were paved with cobblestones, with no muddy ground, which pleased Rod.

"Do you need to buy clothes?" Misell suddenly asked, perhaps because she also felt that the atmosphere was awkward with neither of them speaking.

Rod looked at his clothes. They were short-sleeved shirts he had designed, made by a peasant woman in a village near Riverview Plains a few months ago. They were similar to crew neck short-sleeved shirts on Earth. He and Baron each had several to change into, but they were all the same color—the color of undyed linen.

The pants were also linen shorts, which looked similar to beach shorts on Earth. They were very comfortable to wear, and if paired with a pair of flip-flops, they would be perfect on such a hot day.

Since transmigrating, Rhode hasn't been particular about his clothing, as long as it's clean and comfortable. But even so, compared to other adventurers and mercenaries, he's already quite particular.

"What's wrong?" Rod asked.

"Autumn is coming soon, and the temperature will drop quickly. I didn't bring any autumn clothes with me this time, so I'll go get some made now to prepare. I see you don't seem to have any either, so we can go together," Misell said.

Rhodes thought about it and realized that was true. It was already September, and even though Gulfstream City was located in the south-central part of the continent, people would probably be wearing long pants and long sleeves by October.

"Let's find a decent-looking tailor shop then," Rod said, looking around.

They hadn't walked far down the street when Rod saw a shop with a sign that looked like a pair of scissors hanging outside. He led Messiah inside.

Not having a space ring is a bit of a hassle; I have to carry so many clothes around everywhere.

Rhodes thought about how adventurers usually did it. It seemed they all only had one set of clothes, with the innermost layer being summer clothes, and then they would add layers from the inside out until winter. After winter, they would gradually remove layers until they were only wearing one summer outfit.

Even Messiah seems to only have one set of clothes to change into.

Just thinking about it makes me feel that the life of an adventurer is so miserable. I must change careers in the future and become a nobleman who can be waited on hand and foot. Rhodes made up his mind.

"I think we should buy some fabric and I'll go back and make it. Anyway, I don't have much to do every day," Misell said quietly after seeing the price list hanging in the tailor shop.

Rod looked at the prices; they were indeed very expensive. This shop shouldn't be making clothes for ordinary people; it should be catering to the wealthy.

For nobles and the like, making clothes requires a processing fee of several gold coins for each garment.

Rhodes and Messiah walked out silently, as if they had gone to the wrong place.

In the evening, Rhodes returned to the hotel with a large pile of things and Misell.

"Why did you buy so much stuff?" Baron noticed Rod walking in. He was playing cards with Hammer and Miles, surrounded by a large crowd.

Rod was also helpless. In addition to cloth, needles and thread, measuring tape, and food ingredients, they also bought a pot because Messil felt that the pots in the kitchen were not very clean.

"There's nothing I can do," Rod replied to Baron, then carried his things upstairs. He planned to tell Baron tomorrow that he had signed up for the knightly jousting tournament.

After returning to his room, Rhodes put down his things and quickly drew a picture for Messiah.

"Could you make me clothes based on this picture?" Rod asked.

"Tomorrow, it's too dark now, I can't see anything," Misell said.

Rhodes nodded, took the things downstairs to cook for Messiah. The kitchen was too busy for him to use, so he took a pot and built a makeshift fire outside to cook with.

Nearby, some adventurers and mercenaries set up their own cooking pots and pans, busy chatting and bragging with their companions, and no one paid attention to what Rhode was doing.

Following his memory, Rhodes made cakes, donuts, and egg tarts. After tasting them, Messiah still thought the cake was the best. Some of these Western desserts hadn't been created in this world yet, while others hadn't become popular for various reasons.

"What are you doing? A picnic?" Rod had just finished preparing the food when Miles appeared next to him.

"Would you like to try some?" Rod handed him a piece of cake.

Miles took the cake and ate it. "I used to eat this all the time. I didn't know you could make it too. It seems to be very expensive in your country, but it's not so bad here."

He then picked up the donuts and egg tarts and began to taste them.

"This tastes pretty good," Miles said, holding up the egg tart.

Using honey instead of sugar, Rod felt that the taste of his creations was somewhat different from what he had eaten before.

"Shouldn't you drink a little alcohol with your food?" Miles asked.

"Forget about drinking, you'll be drinking your own blood later." A burly man appeared behind Miles.

Beside the burly man were a dozen or so menacing-looking men, each with a sharpened one-handed sword at their waist.

There were many people dressed like this here. It was very dark at night. Although Rod had noticed them walking this way, he didn't expect them to be here to cause trouble.

Rhodes recognized the burly man as Bill, the "Blue Ocean Bear" from the game that morning. Bill's arms, which Rhodes had broken, were now completely healed, presumably after taking an expensive alchemical potion and receiving professional treatment.

His presence here now is definitely for revenge.
