Steam Old Days: The Extraordinary Begins with a Corpse Collector
Chapter 76 The Thief, Robin Hood's Surrender
The thief had been hiding nearby.
He wanted to confirm whether the two people sitting at the bar were the same two who had beaten him up earlier that day.
As a result, he overheard some of Lyndon and Alastor's conversation.
However, because Lyndon and Alastor were speaking very softly, he only caught the gist of it.
Basically, the two of them wanted to find a hunter to lead them into the Dark Oak Forest.
The thief felt fortunate that he had overheard the news and that he happened to know an experienced hunter, which saved his life.
When Lyndon heard the thief say he could lead them into Dark Oak Forest, he couldn't help but become interested.
"Oh? Well, I'd like to hear that."
Lyndon looked around and saw that the other patrons in the bar were all staring at him and Alastor. He knew he couldn't say anything here.
Lyndon grabbed the thief by the hair and lifted him up like a chick.
He turned to Alastor and said, "Let's go first."
Upon hearing this, Alastor stood up from his chair, but as soon as he took a step, Lyndon turned back and winked at him.
"Um?"
Following Lyndon's gaze, Alastor saw the bartender lying on the ground, trying to sneak away.
"Oh! I understand."
Alastor smiled.
He straddled the bartender's path with both legs.
The bartender looked at the leather shoes that had suddenly appeared in front of him. He trembled as he looked up at Alastor's forced smile.
"Don't rush off!" Alastor chuckled, crouching down and beckoning the bartender with his finger. "Where's the money?"
Looking at the thugs lying on the ground, the bartender felt a chill run down his spine.
"Here, take it all, it's all yours!"
The bartender emptied all the money from his pocket and threw it on the ground.
Alastor only got his own money back.
"Consider the rest as payment for my drinks."
As he spoke, Alastor stepped over the bartender and took a brand new bottle of whiskey from the cabinet.
After causing a scene at the bar, Lyndon grabbed the thief by the hair, while Alastor, clutching the bottles of liquor, walked out of the bar one after the other.
"Big brother, slow down! You're going to rip my hair out!"
Lyndon grabbed the thief by the hair and rudely dragged him forward.
They arrived at a hotel and Lyndon and Alastor booked a room.
After paying for the room, the two pushed the thief into the room.
"Ouch!"
The thief was pushed to the ground by Lyndon, his buttocks landing hard on the floor.
He clutched his buttocks and groaned as he rolled on the ground.
"Be quiet."
Lyndon walked into the house and saw the thief wriggling frantically on the floor like a caterpillar, so he went up and kicked him.
The thief immediately became obedient after being hit. He sat quietly on the ground and secretly touched his buttocks with his fingers.
Lyndon sat on the bed, propped himself up on the edge with both hands, and looked the thief up and down with his brown eyes.
"Tell me, what's your plan to get us in?"
The thief quickly moved closer to Lyndon's leg and said honestly, "You just want to get into Dark Oak Forest, right? I have a way. I know an old hunter who knows the area very well! He can get in with his eyes closed, really."
"But why should we believe you? What if you made it up to save your own life?" Lyndon retorted.
"I'm telling the absolute truth. That old guy is a poacher! He hunts protected animals, and that path was discovered by him while he was poaching!"
Seeing that Lyndon still didn't believe him, the thief said again, "If you don't believe me, I can take you somewhere!"
"Where?"
"A fur shop! The old hunter goes there often; he's a regular customer. He just hunted a top-quality pelt these past few days! I can take you to see it. Anyone who knows anything about furs can tell at a glance it's brand new! If he couldn't get into the Dark Oak Forest, how could he possibly get such a fine pelt?"
Seeing the thief's confident demeanor, Lyndon and Alastor exchanged a glance, conveying their mutual understanding.
So Lyndon leaned forward and grabbed the thief by the hair.
"What's your name?"
"Robin Hood".
"The name of that chivalrous thief?"
"Yes," Robin Hood said softly, "my father named it; he loved the story."
"Very well, Robin Hood, as long as you lead me into the Dark Oak Forest and get what I want, you'll definitely reap the rewards!"
As he spoke, Alastor casually pulled a check from his wallet and placed it in front of Robin Hood.
Robin Hood counted the zeros on the check, his blood boiling and his eyes gleaming.
He licked his dry lips and instinctively reached out to grab it.
But Alastor withdrew his hand in time.
Lyndon stared at Robin Hood and said, "Prove your worth to us first, and if you successfully complete the mission, that check is yours."
Hearing Lyndon's promise to him, Robin Hood nodded rapidly, afraid that Lyndon might go back on his word at any moment.
He clung to Lyndon's leg with a fawning expression, professing his loyalty.
"Don't worry, big brother! I promise I'll complete the mission. From now on, I'll follow you wherever you ask! I'll do whatever you tell me to do!"
"I'm absolutely not doing this for the money! It's simply because I admire your skills and character, brother!"
Robin Hood spoke with such passion and emotion, as if Lyndon were his long-lost brother.
"Alright, alright. I'll ask you again, how much do you know about Wiltling's underground forces?"
The plan to sneak into Veltlin is finally taking shape; the most important thing now is to prepare the equipment.
Therefore, they do indeed need someone by their side who understands the underground black market of Veltlin.
Although Alastor is an absolute expert in this field, the powerful can't suppress the local bully.
Those who can dominate a region are generally not ordinary people, and their subordinates are often highly capable individuals. If they were to provoke someone like Cyril, then Lyndon and his group would be at a great loss.
Nowadays, unless absolutely necessary, it's best to keep a low profile when doing things.
We must not rashly create too much friction with local gangs.
Upon hearing this, Robin Hood quickly replied, "Of course, brother! I've traveled all over the country since I was a kid. Don't let my youth fool you; I've been around for a long time, and I know the Wiltling gang very well!"
"very good!"
Lyndon released his grip on Robin Hood's hair.
He made Robin Hood stand up and speak.
Robin Hood stood up, his previously unruly demeanor completely gone. He stood ramrod straight, head bowed, his face full of subservience.
"Tonight, you'll be sleeping in the same room as us," Lyndon said, pointing at Robin Hood. "Don't get any funny ideas. If you dare, I guarantee you'll suffer a terrible fate!"
Upon hearing this, Robin Hood shook his head vigorously, like a rattle-drum.
"Rest assured, brother, I, Robin Hood, swear to serve you to the death!"
Robin Hood sticks out his buttocks, puts his hands together on his chest, and looks quite comical.
